Not at all. The legendary system (which garentees at least one every 40 packs) works for any packs opened. Meaning you can't really control the outcome. The best thing to do for that might be to open something like 20-30 packs noraml, hoping you get no legendary and then open the golden packs to ensure you more chances. But as I've said, you've got no control over this.
I always buy the big preorder. I can afford it, it is a good value, I do not spend on other games, I really really like Hearthstone. Easy math for me. Also, I have a complete collection this way.
i recently returned to the game after taking like a 2 or 3 year break and im having a blast again :) i grind legend every month again and its pretty fun again for me so i bought the big pre-order to catch up with gold and dust more easily so i can sustain purely from playing for the next expansion
Quick question, If I buy the pre bundle with 10 golden packs does that mean I should get a golden legendary by just opening those packs first?
The packs are seperate in pity timers so yes you're guaranteed a golden (or signature? not sure on this) legendary in the first 10 golden packs even if you open them last
Nah. I usually get enough gold and packs i've saved to make a dent. They charge way too much for pre-orders. If they knocked it down a bit I would consider it.
I thought it was a guaranteed legendary in the first 10 packs of a new expansion and the bundle includes 10 golden whizbang packs so... open them first???

Nope, you get a guaranteed legendary in your first 10 golden Whizbang packs and in your first 10 normal Whizbang packs.
I aint got money for the bundle anymore and since im only really playing priest and deathknight I might aswell just craft the cards I want from those classes - money saved.
Sad to see people still compare a collectible card game to a regular video game title sold on a console, they aren’t the same and never will be. I guess you can compare a 5 star restaurant to a McDonald’s restaurant then and say McDonalds only charges $3 bucks for a burger so why should I spend $30 for a burger? Rationalization is one of the strongest human psychological emotions to exist. We all like to interpret things and base our choices off of are interpretations. I never understood why I should care about something someone else has that I do not or the ability of someone else to do things I cannot. The community that surrounds this game as a whole uses the term “ whale” as a pejorative and the term “f2p” as a meliorative.
If you buy the bundle, great if you don’t buy it, great. To suggest buying it is stupid because you can buy a “aaa” title for that much says a lot about the person making the comment. Secretly we all wish we could buy the bundle but everyone cant do that. So really wish the people in this community could get over their psychological issues with people who have something they don’t or choose to do something that they cannot.

If you opened 10 normal packs you’d hit that legendary by that 10th pack or earlier. But regardless of any of that, golden and normal packs have separate pity timers, even if they are the same expansion. Golden packs used to not give a guaranteed legendary in the first 10, but I guess they changed that. Not sure when that changed though.
TLDR: The two pack types have timers that are independent of each other, so it doesn’t matter what you open first.
I do buy them (the cheapest option) since gold alone isn't enough for a full collection. But yes, the prices are ridiculous.
Back in the old days I used to grind arena for packs to avoid having to pay. That's not an option anymore, I don't want to pour my entire life into Hearthstone.
You pay with money or you pay with time.
I basically accept that I'll never have a full collection. I'll buy however many packs I earn with gold the amount I like to play. At each rotation I'll aggressively dust all of the rotating cards.
I'll even sometimes pick one or two classes to not play and dust all of them (I don't have the cards for a viable DH deck, for example).
This will be the 3rd or 4th expansion now that I haven't pre-purchased the standard bundle.
I didn't even get the tavern pass this current expansion and depending on the quality of the rewards I may just stay as F2P again.
At the point that I enjoy HS enough to make it my main/only game then I will consider it but I generally have to stop playing after an hour or so these days because the game just feels more frustrating and the bundles are relative to other games, very expensive. I do appreciate that CCG's in general are expensive though.

I bought the mega-bundle.
It's totally fine with everyone that you bought the big bundle.
We all make decisions about what we're going to buy based on personal, subjective criteria. If you can easily afford it, if the relevant comparison to you isn't other video games in general but specifically Magic the Gathering, and if to you triple A games are like McDonald's burgers and Hearthstone's a gourmet meal, of course you should buy the Mega Bundles. It'd be dumb not to.
All those things are reversed for me so I don't usually buy bundles. There's nothing stupid or malicious and no rationalization needed to account for buying or not buying a preorder.
Good luck with your pack openings.
But, in some people' mind, it's not okay. And that what I think he's complaining about (rightly, in my view). Just read some of the threads on this topic (this one is pretty tame, actually but others are much worse), and you can see this snarky, pretty nasty attack on anyone who actually spends money on the game. The very term "whales" (as he points out) is used to criticize and insult. No one says, "Wow, congrats on being a whale! Ugly form of class warfare, TBH.
As someone who typically buys the smaller bundle every other expansion (this one happens to be an "off" expansion), I guess I qualify as a "mini-whale." I'd probably be insulted if I actually cared what some of these clowns think. Anyway, I think anyone who's foolish enough to spend $6/ day on Starbucks is nuts. I scratch my head when I see people buying skins, heroes, and other cosmetics on Hearthstone. But it's not my money, so I have no right to complain or criticize. Just wish others would do the same.
I never bought any pre-order. only buy enough packs for rares and commons completions. miniset bought with gold only. the rest of epics and legendaries is crafted only when necessary. and if they are mages/neutrals. (fav class)
Playing since beta and used to buying every expansion but stopped buying last year. Price is crazy for a game with bots. I feel like there is no longer player base like it was few years ago.

i buy the 80 dollar bundle...the reward track and maybe a launch bundle. Usually just the 80 and track though

We all assess our choices depending of the others man, at some point or another. You are right thought.

That's enough for me.
Seems this thread has turned a bit into a big therapy group for whales :D

I bought the mega-bundle. I was being auto-sarcastic about the whales.
