As soon as you earn money on something, it should lose its beta label. Its a poor shield against criticism.
That's kinda what I thought, too. Can't complain about it because it's still beta.
I mean, they've had full blown Blizzard organized BG tournaments now with all the famous streamers and pro players, right? Seems like it's time to rip off the band aid.
Maybe there is another reason for this. I bet it has something to do with money.
Yeah I agree the beta tag seems insane at this point. Iksar has hinted that there are still some possibly significant changes that they are considering. (Ex: not being able to take more than X damage in a single turn until at least one person has been knocked out.) Still though, I don’t think that’s reason enough to keep the beta tag.

That limitation will barely have any significance, since the bottom 4 people rarely have any fun in the game. The purpose is to lose quickly and play again. The "one more turn" idea. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that (maybe except for streamers that gain money from playing this shit 8h a day).
But since their target audience is kids at puberty, it's pretty easy to manipulate their minds.
This was the same with Fortnite. The Battle Royale mode was in "Early Access" for 3 years after it launched. It is definitely not something unique to Blizzard.
I think it is just becoming an industry standard to release beta versions of new game modes that are added onto an existing game, and then never really bothering to remove the "beta" tag. Also, it doesn't really matter if they call it beta or early access or whatever. They are actively developing new content for it on a pretty regular basis.
Basically, moving out of beta is their last opportunity to incorporate more aggressive monetization. And given the number of people who play Battlegrounds, believe me, they do wish they could monetize it more aggressively.
On a technical level, they do still need to deal with animation times and such, but I don't think that would stop them from moving out of beta. I mean, look at Hearthstone ffs.

Remember back when game developers cared enough about what the public thought of their games to test them on a limited audience before releasing them?
Yeah, me neither. But at least now we're all cool kid beta testers. Look at how cool I am, playing this game before its technical release. So cooooool.
I mean I am ok with the beta tag since they added prizes (and will likely keep some version of new prizes in some games after the big update.) And they are reworking the minions after the big update. The are experimenting with what the game mode can and should be.
I remember first booting up battlegrounds 2 years ago. It's still in the Beta stage, what's keeping it from an actual release?

Because blizzard is a poor excuse of a company (especially because of the designers).

I remember they mentioned overhauling a large portion of the minions and adding something like 40 new ones to give the minion types more identity.
Once they do this they will no longer be as reliant on or restricted by pre-existing constructed minions moving forward. Maybe then, it will be time.
It will leave Beta when they figure out how to make more money off of the mode.
