Is this the worst state the HS has been in years? I have been playing at legend rank for years and cant remember when was the last time the game has been so broken unfun and one-dimensional. Am I wrong? Please tell me if this is not the case. I cant find a single fun deck or matchup.
I feel like that is a matter of opinion. I personally love this meta. I may hate where warlock is at but I still find my own fun with it. I'm a huge quest fan as well as meme decks I always finish between D5 and Legend depending on how much time I have.
In music, one doesn’t make the end of the composition, the point of the composition. If that were so, the best conductors would be those who played fastest, and there would be composers who wrote only finales. People would go to concerts just to hear one crashing chord—because that’s the end! -Alan Watts
Thats what Hearthstone is becoming these days, one crashing chord. Draw your entire deck, mana cheat your entire hand, and go face or easily reach overpowered win condition (with long animations so its actually kinda hard to pull off sometimes, yeah hearthstone is becoming an apm game). And whats up for the future? They do like their power creep don't they? Making decks that end the game in turn 3-5 instead of turn 6-9?
I don't like the state of the game right now, not sure if its the worst ever but its pretty bad. I don't like quest cards because they feel very single player like to either play against or to play yourself.
Deck of Lunacy Mage meta was way worse, same with Priest meta before the expansion, but of course people will always go "omG tHE woRST mEtA" about every current meta.
In priest meta people would just concede to avoid 30-50 minutes priest mirrors and many just stopped playing because of the huge amount of priests.
IMHO Shamanstone was the worst. It is a scary situation when a mid-range deck reaches S tier. It beats aggro, it beats control, it beats combo. You either play it or perhaps another mid-range deck and hope to draw better. (or maybe you can target you deck a bit, but it is really hard to tech vs. Mid-range.)
At least in the current meta you can play combo or aggro. Back then you either played Shaman or suffered for the most part.
I have no love for this meta. I really dislike the ease in which the quests can be completed. They are just too fast. By a lot. But, I don't really love the strength of the aggro decks either. They are also too fast. The game in general is tuned too fast right now.
It is more like the most boring, controversial and hateful year so far in the Hearthstone history...
I'm not putting in my own opinions whether I hate or like the meta, but the fact is that Year of the Gryphon is definitely not enjoyable or favorable at all... How many times and boring meta did we complain during the Forged in the Barrens expansion span? United in the Stormwind got started few weeks ago and all we've got is tons of complains and hates..... Year of the Gryphon has the most nerfs and balance patches so far as well....
there were always times when it felt absolutely dreadful to even bother playing, whats the f-ing point? i mean you could just play the stuff everyone else is doing, but it's terribly wuuurggghh
this one takes the cake, if not 2nd place of horrendous-ness
just personally waiting for them to FINALLY do something reasonable about this, in the meantime i'm playing classic and battlegrounds, both things i actually hate, but not as much as the "real" ladder. that's probably saying a lot about the current state of the game. basically just finishing the quests and gtfo there asap
this manacheat bullcrap needs to go NOW and some actual interactivity would be greatly appreciated, these aren't even real matches, just solitaire clownshows. while you're at it, ban some cards permanently or replace them with something completely different. thanks, and screw quests in general, not just these new ones
I think you're wrong not because the meta isn't fun, but because fun isn't objective. I'm having a lot of fun and it's with this expansion that I came back from a pause (I skipped Darkmoon Fair and Barrens) and I am having fun, but there are also people who aren't.
I think you and many others who aren't having fun should learn that playing a game you're not enjoying is not the best idea, I've been taking pauses on and off (I think around 2/3 times) because the meta or the cards in general weren't fun for me, and it's ok to not play something you don't find fun, you'll come back eventually. And no it's not a problem of the game that you don't like it anymore, it's your preference
I am a warrior player so yeah this meta sucks for me. It's getting a little better since the nerfs but it does feel like most of the decks I face just kill me by turn 6-8 which isn't very fun.
Worst meta ever was definitely jade druid though I don't think anything will ever be worse than that.
This meta is super fun... if you play warlock or win by turn 6. Yeah, super fun.
Seriously, i can understand why a lot of people will like it. It's short games, most games are decided turn 3-5, it makes you feel good to win these one sided games as mage, warlock or shaman. People like to play broken shit. Unfortunately, if this doesn't apply to you as something you enjoy, then you are having a miserable experience. The fanbase that enjoys this of course doesn't care for your misery or the health of the game, they just want to do broken shit while they are sitting on the toilet and that's a problem
Competitive-wise it's not bad, because you have at least three competitive archetypes, and even more if you count any deck capable of reaching Legend.
However, the gap between what's competitive and what's not is massive this expansion. Sure you shouldn't be expected to win a lot with jank, but having such an oppressive Tier 1 means that there's barely any wiggle room. Decks capable of infinite burn and immunity to fatigue should require some serious set-ups to achieve, not just play a single card. It's ridiculous.
I have stopped playing just no fun in this meta at all. Quest Mage and Lock (While not the highest WR%) are just not fun to play against at all. Worrying that this is likely the case untill the quests rotate. that will be me done with HS.
I'm not a fan of the meta but I've been enjoying wild and BG. I wouldn't say it's the worst ever, but it isn't my cup of tea. There are a fair few decks but I don't particularly enjoy them. I'll dip in and out of it and see how the mini set goes.

You are not wrong....worst state its been in ... ever.
I feel like ever is a strong word. It's absolutely been worse than this. Trust me lol.

u don't like solitaire?! and a complete disregard for board? this takes so much skill in a full skill all pros Meta LUL
Honestly though, I think the most skill driven meta we've had in a long time was when Rise of Shadows came out.
Best meta ever in my opinion.
REMEMBER jade Druid.
Remember DH day 1.
