posted a message on Best and Worst Class Set?

I'm a warrior OTP and I am pretty disappointed with this set. No new archetype, just a bit of support for quest and control which isn't very exciting. Also probably the worst legendary of the entire set in Lady Ashvane :(

posted a message on Is there a algorithm that changes the classes you face depending what you play?
    Quote from Ehronatha >>

Each of the play modes has a player-matching algorithm, but "officially" the algorithms are matching available players by RANK (Standard/Wild/Arena) or MMR (Casual), NOT by deck choice or class.

That being said, it is also well known that Activision has a patent for a matchmaking process that is meant to encourage microtransactions in Call of Duty.  https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-18-activision-patented-method-of-tuning-matchmaking-to-boost-microtransactions

Hearthstone is not Call of Duty, and it does not have microtransactions as such.  However, if they are doing it in one game, why not another?

It is in the company's interest to flatten out win rates as much as possible in order encourage players to spend more.  It could be that they rate player's collection by spending and match low-spending players with high-spending players to reward the big spenders and frustrate the frugal ones.

However, there's just no proof that they are doing it in Hearthstone besides limited anecdotes.

I don't agree with this. If I win more, I'm more likely to spend money on cosmetics and continue playing. If I lose, I'm more likely to close the game and play something else.

    Quote from Sexy_Smigol >>

The game algorithm matches you with a hard opponent depending on your deck and other things.

I just confirmed today that this algorithm is super rigged, unfair and unfunny.

If I use slow warlock quest I got matched with quest mage 99% of the time. Then I make a paladin deck that counters that deck AND ALMOST ZERO mages.....and if its a mage, its NEVER quest.

    I change to warlock..same thing again..quest mage.

Theres no reason to play a game where all this is manipulated like gambling in a casino.

I play since beta...and at those times opponents were RANDOM.

Not now....everything is MANIPULATED somehow...packs...adventures...matches....I have lost the interest to play.

Ah yes one day of play is a large enough sample size and provides unequivocal proof that the system is rigged. Thanks for providing the evidence.

Here is something you can do to test one of the mechanics I believe exists. This is what I refer to as the 'golden' RNG, Don't play constructed for a week, then play something powerful with an easy curve (like taunt druid), bet you go on a nice little win streak. This game state seems to be triggered by not playing for a while, as a way of hooking players back in to the game.

Another one that most players are familiar with are the progress gates. Like at diamond 10, diamond 5 and legend. Don't be surprised if you get terrible RNG consistently that drives you back from breaking through. This type of thing was first publicly observed in the game Candy Crush. The game would stick players on levels so they would buy powerups to break through.....who owns king? Activision. Activision thought so highly of King's manipulative tactics, that they went out and acquired them. But watch people on this site scream up and down that Activision would never do something like that in hearthstone.

This literally proves nothing man what are you even saying

I'm still not seeing where money comes into this? Not once in 7 years of Hearthstone have I ever lost a game and thought to myself "oh no I had better buy more packs!"

So how does it decide who are top players? How do new players keep qualifying for masters if they have the game rigged against them to stop them ranking up? And how exactly does all of this drive sales?

So how do the same players consistently get to the top of legend every month? Or how do GM players consistently perform at a high level? They're immune to the rigging or something?
