Reached Legend on day 6. Never reached Legend in the old system because the grinding for 25 wins was deterrent so I never tried. The big change is that they split the old rank 5 up rank 1 into ten ranks (Diamond 10 being rank 5) with a floor at Diamond 5. It's this floor at Diamond 5 that's makes legend more accessible. Now all the players, like me, who would just reach Rank 5, try new decks without bothering to climb have an incentive to reach legend. The key its now to reach diamond 10 and with the win streak bonus it should not a be a problem to reach diamond 5. Now, what will be interesting to find out is what percentage of the players reach Diamond 10 (rank 5). In the old system it was 6%.
Yea I said that weeks ago, and was praising how Blizzard finally makes Legendary accessible for everyone. Once there you can play at your own pace, no Pressure at all and you'll even meet the occasional Streamer/Pro player. :)
This + No Dupp rule should get a truckload of retired players back into the Game.
Expect around 25-30k Legendarys at the end of month tho, it does come at a prize ;)
Gotta disagree here. The old grind was 25 stars (rank 5 to legend) the new system is technically 15 (Diamond 5 to legend), however more like 45 if you have 8 stars lr below due to the brutal, punishing MMR - Ie it’s very tough to go on 3 game win streaks. I’ve said before and will say it again, this system is a steaming pile of dog shit.

I started climbing the ranks until Platinum, then realized if I waited until after the expansion went live, I could possibly get some of the new cards as rewards, so I've been deliberately holding off until then to hit legend.

The cards you get right away are always classic cards... the packs you get at the end of the month are gonna be the new expansion, so no need to wait!

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffer!
With this "50% winrate" policy the grind can be much worse. In my opinion it becomes more rng dependable (card draw and dice roll for facing a better/worse archetype against our deck)
I am losing more now, feel more angry about it and have got less fun in the game. But, it is just me, I am happy for everybody who wins a lot and is content.
New system reward high elo players making it a lot easier for them to get legend but it's still hard as it was before for low skill player so I think this new system is really fair!
Easier, yes, but easier for who? All the players? Only the skilled players? I personally think that it is easier for all the players who regularly reached rank 5 and did not even try to climb the ladder to Legend because the grind was utterly deterrent. Now you have that floor at Diamond 5 and the fact that Win streaks are still possible between D10 and D5, there's way less grinding. In the previous system only 6% reached rank 5 and 0.5 reached Legend. My guess is it's those 6% that are now reaching Legend.
It looks like the new rank system has 30 levels (gold, platinum, diamond) to get to legend, this is 90 stars and 6 level floors.
The old system has 20 levels which has around 90 stars and 4 level floors.
From these 2 numbers, I see 3 things ----
first, this means the players need to fight similar number of stars which is as good as before. :P~~~
second, players are slotted into 7 bins instead of 5 bins. So each bins will have fewer players theoretically, this can be easier in terms of competition. Moreover, there are 2 more fail-saving level floors to prevent you from falling back, also meaning easier. The most important thing is, we will have more top level players playing meme or fun decks instead of the i-want-legendary decks, high-diamond level will have easier time leveling up :P~~~
having said that, currently there should be many players in the gold and platinum bins who play less often, so this is the slowest part to level up at the moment. After all the players get back to their best-level, the diamond bins will be a bit harder to play than now, since level-floors sleeve the bests players away from golden and platinum. :P~~~

For the Xth time, the matchmaking is MMR based, so what rank you are does not matter for who you are matched with.
More ranked floors, way less climbing to do without winstreak bonus stars and players getting multipliers all the way up to high legend makes the new system a LOT easier.

these days the matchmaking really does not show the oppo's rank... but I guess it may be similar to the old system, such that oppo is +- 1 rank around you ? :P~~~

OTK players suck.
And what is the problem now? this new rank system its great
Like legend is a significant thing anymore KeK

Legend definitely is easier now. At least 5000 people are legend already after not even one week.

Legend players from previous season have 2x star bonus between diamond 10 and 5. Without it getting to diamond 5 is a pain in the butt.

I hit Legend Day 3 and I played meme decks half the time. 10x multiplier is nice.
