Hi guys. My friend told me to disenchant my golden epics and legendaries that I don’t like from the classic set before the update. He said that if I do that, there is a chance that I can obtain them again when I I open them in classic packs with the new duplication rule. Whereas if I disenchant them after the update, I will have a low chance of opening their normal versions again. What do u guys think?
Disenchant anything that is rotating out if you don't intend on playing wild, Don't disenchant things from the classic set except for golden cards unless you really know you won't play it or if you don't play that class. What legendaries are you planning on disenchanting?
Why do you want to disenchanct anything right now? Do you need the dust or something?
His friend is telling him to disenchant them before they switch the way pack openings work. If he disenchants them before hall of fame he can still get the cards from packs.
I think the theory is that if you dust your golden cards before the "non-duplicate" change takes place, they will NOT be counted as "in your collection", so you are guaranteed to eventually be awarded them as you fill in your collection. But if you dust your golden cards after the "non-duplicate" change takes place, then they WILL be counted "in your collection", so you won't be guaranteed to get them again (it will be completely random if you get them again). So now is a chance to unlock the dust in your golden cards and still eventually get them back, due to the non-duplicate update.
I'd be interested in the community's comments. I operated on this believe when they made the announcement and dusted all my golden cards where I didn't already have 2 non-golden.
The other thing to keep in mind is the timing Blizzard will count what's "in your collection" - which to my knowledge nobody actually knows. Today is the day change is supposed to go into effect, though as of now it doesn't look like it's rolled out yet.

I'm pretty sure your chances of opening a golden copy of any card rarity doesn't change... If you have all golden epics for a set, you have the same chances of opening a golden epic if you have 0 cards from a set.
Also, I'm not sure how the golden-normal exchange works... if I have the regular whole set, EXCEPT one copy of Preparation, and I open a Classic pack that happens to have a golden epic, is that card not guaranteed to be a golden Preparation? And, once you get that card (golden or not), all cards you open go back to being completely random (no duplicate protection, golden or otherwise)?
If you want to craft something right now, then sure, go ahead and disenchant epics that you don't need but if you just get a bad epic and think that you will dust it for the future, it is better just to hold on to that. The card might get changed, so you get your dust back, or it will help you in the new card pack opening changes etc. I had Glinda for the longest time, for example and I never would have guessed that it would get changed because it was a pretty bad card but it did and I got an ez 1600 dust out of it.

As far as I know, this has not been confirmed. If someone knows any better, please correct me.
My guess is, that the game is currently not tracking cards as "owned" yet, or at least not with the implication that disenchanted cards (like legendaries) won't show up in packs anymore. So it would make sense that you can get disenchanted epics again right after the patch goes live. BUT it's possible that it already does this sort of tracking, and only now it will have this kind of side effect, so cards in your collection are already marked as owned before the patch goes live.
Either way, you should take the following into consideration:
Depending on how many epics you are still missing from the Classic set, it could take you a very long time to profit from disenchanting some now. I, for example, am still missing around 19 epics from the Classic set. For 19 epics, I need to open something between 80 and 100 packs, probably. Since I don't plan on buying more Classic packs and have to rely on Brawls and some of the Daily Quests, I usually get around 60 Classic packs per year. In other words, if I go and disenchant some Epic now, I'd benefit from it sometime next year, when I would have all Epics anyway, before considering those I disenchant. I might continue playing the game for that much longer, but I honestly don't think that's worth 100 dust. If I had a specific epic only as a golden, I'd maybe reconsider it.
And it's even worse for legendaries. I'm missing about 15, I think, and if I want to open them "naturally", it will probably take a few more years for me to get there. By that time, we might have a whole new list of Classic legendaries due to Hall of Fame and new additions, like with Natalie Seline. I was considering to disenchant my Golden Lorewalker Cho as well, since I'll probably never, ever miss it, but I'd really only profit from that in 3 years or so from now, and I'd rather open new legendaries instead of Lorewalker until then.

You're right the no duplicate doesn't change anything to the golden/non golden distribution so, if you're only missing one epic, it'll be that one you'll open in a pack be it golden or not.
Once you have them all (golden or not, 2 of each card except legendaries (1)), it'll come back to pure random. Please note that, if you do disenchant cards, the system will still count them as "owned" and not give them priority over random distribution.
And all above are true, we don't know the date Blizzard chose to count our collections for this even if the most logical moment would be when the patch is applied

Unless you've got a hundred classic packs to open chances of getting anything worth dusting in them in now is pretty slim I would think.

According to this this, they will start tracking duplicates today: https://twitter.com/Celestalon/status/1242553386089607169. I can't speak to the veracity of the tweet, but it looks credible.
