This question popped up in my head after seeing many comments stating that if more players only focus on Wild mode then less money will be invested in Standard because most players can only afford 1 mode. Then why don't they sell the old packs such as WOTG and UnGoro and allow players to buy old cards and build more fun decks? It would be cool if I can buy UnGoro packs because I didn't play when that expansion came out.
I believe they don't want new players buying older packs with gold because Wild is too expensive to get into quickly.
To get a first good deck in Wild is not more expansive than in Standard. Mech Hunter, Aggro Druid, Odd Rogue, Murloc Shaman and Odd Pala are all cheap but good decks to start with.
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
The reason you can't buy wild packs in your game via gold is because they don't want people to accidentally buy unplayable cards. Simple. No matter how many warnings you give, there will always be those people, and Blizzard doesn't want to deal with the uproar this would cause.

It is very unlikely that a new, free player will ever be competitive in Wild by spending only gold.
