Ever since I even'd up my total arena wins to 1000 a few months back, I swore I'd NEVER play it ever again.
However, I suddenly feel like playing arena again, please try to convince me to play arena again (I am so OCD so destroying that beautiful 1000 is killing me)
I am considering trying to catch up to my ranked wins but I feel like this isn't realistic and would take years.
Is it still fun ? Worth playing ? Yes / no ? Discuss.
Arena is currently in a pretty good spot right now after a ton of adjustments from Blizzard’s end, so its definitely pretty fun. Also, Arena is a gold generator at this point, almost all the decks I’ve drafted have gone 7+ wins. Overall, decision is yours, but I feel its definitely pretty fun now especially since RNG was reduced a lot.
All you have to do is play 1 game, and then you're doomed to play 8999 more to get back to a solid number. Don't do it! Also, have you noticed how asymmetrical everything around you is?

I heard it was pretty bad on BDP release since it was literally constructed, is that true ?

Well I can only imagine how much of a pain 10k arena wins would be. I'd have to hit at least 2000 wins or 5000 to feel confortable.
Arena is awesome right now. Just got my first 9 win run last night. Did not have any legendary's either. I thought it was going to be a 3-4 win run. Games were really good and very close. Skill of building a deck, and playing seem to make a much bigger difference now.
No and no. Congratulations on managing to endure that mode for so long, I couldn't. I'd say that is a perfect place to leave that mode at, a fine number (I'm the same as you, every time I play in Ranked, I need to do it in increments of 5 wins and that is just to calm it down because I'm secretly thinking I have to get it to a multiple of 50.)
Even my total wins for each classes have to be in increments of 5, otherwise it just bothers me so much.
That's why breaking that 1000 is a big deal to me. It just feels too clean.

That is what I meant with Ranked Wins. I also keep them at the same total for all classes except Mage and Priest (Mage I play a lot and Priest I hate the class so it's only at 550).
In your position I wouldn't break that total, but that is because I hate Arena, I would be far too much of a hassle to get it to 1500.
You and I are very similar lol, I'm also keeping all my classes very close to each other. My only class that has more wins than the rest is druid at 1460 and all the others are between 1300 and 1260.
What I enjoy from arena though is the fact that it's giving you a break from the meta, it's a lot more relaxing. Always playing against tier 1 aggro decks like Baku Rogue/Paladin and Zoo is kinda stressful. Also in arena you're playing against players of all calibers.. sometimes it's fun to play against players that have less experience than you. So I'm thinking after hitting Legend, Arena can be a nice way to relax and take it easy.
However, it's also true that I get even more tilted when I lose in arena, especially since I know I'm losing to inferior players and most of the time it's based on RNG and deck quality, which doesn't happen as much in constructed.

Yeah, I can understand that, but I still can't go to Arena. I get far more frustrated by losing to a player which gets a better deck than I do and I can't win the game for that, rather than in Constructed, where the quality of my deck is something I decide and control.
I'm sort of a control freak, so a mode like Arena, where I not only lack control over the order I draw cards in, but I also have no control over what cards get offered for me to pick, and nothing ensures I don't face much stronger decks than mine, is hell for me.
If I have to lose to someone, I rather lose to someone who is equal to or better than be, be it in strategy or technical play, not in random elements, since those are out of our control.
It feels like I'm having a discussion with myself.
I 100% agree with everything you've said and those are the reasons I stopped playing the mode.
It was still fun at times, especially since I had a pretty good win average.
base 10 is arbitrary and we only use it because we have 10 fingers, if we had 12 the magic number would be 1728 for example (although it would still be written "1000"). So nothing "naturally special" here, proceed for the next perfect cube! (1331)

You just blew my mind.
I actually was going to say the same thing as him, base 10 is a figment of human imagination, something we agreed on to make communication easier. Computers work in binary and are able to do all the math we do. In fact, do you know where the word "dozen" comes from, why there are 12 hours in a day and why there are 12 signs of Zodiac? Base-12 system predates base 10 (and was used in Sumeria, Babylon, and parts of China), it just fell out of favor.

do you buy packs with gold? can you maintain a 4-5 win average in arena? do you have extra time to play arena? if yes to all 3 you may as well play arena because the payout for 4-5 wins is break even on the 150 gold. anything more than that is gravy.

7+ HOW?????? I don’t suck at this game. I’ve hit legend ones. I have taken arena to tourorials, coaching’s, read, watched, everything I can to figure out best practices and strategies with both drafting and subsequently playing most of the hero classes thoroughly. And yet. Unless I am warlock and lucky I rarely get more than four wins. I’m convinced there must be something fundamental I’m just not grasping; please help a noob out!
You should play arena to lose to those unbelievably random turn of events that are hard to play around (Like Deathwing, true story). Oh wait, this was supposed to be about convincing you to start arena wasn't it?

look at his gold count. I dont think he is in much need

Losing in constructed already frustrates me, so you can imagine how I feel when I lose in arena.

you're taking this a bit too far
Convincing argument for arena:
Do you like free hearthstone cards? Me too, so I play arena.
Well, this thread is done, I'm now at 1008 arena wins (currently 8-1 as Warrior)
I won't feel good until I have at least 1500 or 2000 wins now.

I rather watch paint dry then play arena.

Why would you think about stopping? Arena is the primary mode for this game. The other mode is just for completing quests.
