I'm not sure why it's relevant to the discussion, but IF you assign a value of zero to the hero skin, the witchwood bundle was definitely a slightly better value. I'd be very careful of the argument that once an offering has been made, only equal or greater value offers must be made in the future. That ends with "we can't have nice things" every time

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
So you are mad that instead of getting a max of 50 packs in the 1/1 ratio you can choose to get 80 and a skin with it ?? You say they used events to the skins could you please tell what was Magni Event?? Or any of the 3 that you pay for it + a cardback ?? Its really good getting 80 for 80 or even 130 for 130, its worse than last expansion, and thats sad, but its just like every other expansion.
It's not actually "worse" they are throwing in a free golden legendary. I am not sure that a golden legendary = 20 packs, but it's kind of closeish
I would consider buying a 20 for 30 preorder or something, Witchwood was the first and last time I'll spend money on this game. I enjoy it, but I have enough gold saved to where I can craft a lot of fun cards. Who cares about cosmetics?
You realize that you aren’t paying 80$ for the hero right ? That the break down is 1$ per pack and everything else is essentially free ?
Or maybe it’s just Mecha Jaraxxus that’s 80$ and the packs , cardback and gold leg are free ?
Don’t like it ? Don’t buy it, but stop frothing at the mouth. While it’s cool , it’s not the absolute coolest or the must have.
In my opinion that would be Arthas and he’s got to be earned. Not paid for. With nearly anyone able to buy him , he’s not “special”. Same said for the cardbacks. It’s for collectors.
You could argue that anyone can earn Arthas as well but that’s more time and effort than clicking a pay button.
Not trying to flame anyone or stir up some trouble. Just tired of the continuous toxic outpouring of negative opinions.
Exactly, thank you. It's $80 for 80 packs. $1 per pack is a good deal. They give you a number of things for free for spending that amount. People are bitching just to bitch, and of course, people will rally behind OP for speaking for them. People will look for anything to bitch about. The teaser about the new expansion only just dropped today, and this is now the second thread I've found where someone is making it out to be worse than it is.
You all know why this deal exists, right? To reward people for their dedication to funding the game. Want to know another reason this deal exists? To help push more cards into the player's collection to quicken the number of diverse decks into play. There is no greed to be had because you're getting a lot for $80. You should be thanking Blizzard for the second preorder option.

Its slight worse on dust and if you want a big number of packs because you dont have the all rare and epic cards(its a new expansion so you dont) the 50$ is close to 60-62 packs i believe instead of the 16 since you should open some of the cards you dont have.
I usually buy the preorder, and then I usually buy some more packs at launch. The second big bundle is $20 cheaper than buying two bundles of 40 packs.
I knew this type of complaint was gonna happen, as soon as they set the precedent of 70 packs for $50 USD. It's just back to the way it was every expansion before Witchwood, except now you get a Golden Legendary on top of that (which you can disenchant and make a normal any legendary you want).
Yes, the $80 bundle is a bit much. But so what. If you've got the excess cash, good for you, but if not, you're still pre-ordering the same thing that everyone else pre-ordered in the past.

Wow $177 Australian to get both bundles or $110 for just the mega. Right after we thought they were getting better after the 70 pack preorder for no extra with Witchwood.
80$ for packs in game...Blizzard, what are you doing? for 60$ you can have AAA game on ps4 like God of War. I thought that blizzard wants to make this game more friendly for new users and let them have easy way of making good start but when looking on preorders strategy I am starting to think that they want to lower the popularity of this game pretty fast.. Im sorry but shouldnt it be better when it costed less? Then a lot of people would consider buying this... In that case less preorder "consumers" here they come. Additionaly this addon will last less that Witchwood so why I should pay more if I will be able to use it shorter?? That is not the idea how you "encourge" new people to the game or people who considered returning to hearthstone.
Serious question for non-US citizens: Is there some sort of tax in your country that Blizzard has to pay for online commerce? I'm American and I keep hearing that the baseline dollar price is used in other currencies as well, and if it's literally 1:1 like that, my first thought is that there's some sort of tax on e-business but I have no idea. If not, I will admit that seems a little strange.

Calm down there, YongYea. You seem to be purposely omitting a thing or two in your opening post, and focusing mostly on negatives that can be taken from this.
Well we're off to a good start if you're gonna call me YongYea. The post is to talk about how bullshit the new preorder is, and the fact a hero portrait is locked behind a $80 limited time paywall, something I'm gonna get to in a bit.
1. Most alternate Heroes have required some sum of money. Don't play like this is a new concept. About half or more of the alternate Heroes have cost people money.
Uhh, no they don't. Three heroes require purchase. (Four if you count Khadgar, but that was for charity.) The rest were earned for free where you had to do something to get them. Liadrin just needs you to reach level 20 in WoW. Morgl you just gotta recruit a friend (or make a smurf account and do it that way.) Even Tyrande you got for free for Twitch Prime has free trials. So only three heroes actually had to be paid for, while the other eight were given for free.
2. This game is free to play. Buying packs and spending money on the game in general helps support the company, who work hard on cards and various designs and missions. This isn't an evil thing. They are a company, a company that wants to make money. What they are offering for $80 is to be expected, and it's a pretty good bundle
Let's be honest, the game used to be free to play. It's become such a grind and so expensive that the new player experience is horrible. Unless you've been playing since 2014 or 2015, it's kinda impossible to be F2P anymore since you just won't have the dust or gold to do it. Why else do you think they stopped doing Adventures and do three expansions a year with 2 class legendaries? It's because they wanna milk the shit out of us as much as possible, and it's why so many people have just flat out quit.
Also, the Mega Bundle is not a good bundle at all. It's $80 for 80 packs, when Witchwood was giving 70 packs for $50. How the fuck is this a better deal?
You're making this out to be worse than it is. Vote with your wallet? This isn't a Battlefront 2 level fiasco.
No one said it was. Now you're strawmanning.
You're whipping up sensationalism and trying to get a rowdy crowd started like all of this is new that they're doing.
Because it is new. This is the first time they've locked a hero behind a $80 preorder paywall, a hero that is very popular no less. Everyone was cool when it was just cardbacks, but hero portraits are a whole nother ballgame. No one liked it when they were being sold for $10, so why would they be happy about one that is limited time and locked to $80.
Are you new to Hearthstone or something? People like skins, and most people who like skins will want Mecha-Jaraxxus because it's another skin.
I want Mecha-Jaraxxus, but I am not paying $80 for him. Don't speak for me.
Not everyone wants to be Gul'dan, and not everyone wants to be Nemsy
Nice post.
2/10. Try harder Blizzshill.
Blizzshill? Funny, considering I got bored with Diablo 3 and haven't played in years, don't like WoW or any of the other games they have out, and play Hearthstone when I get a good chance. I'm mostly F2P myself as it is.
Want Mecha-Jaraxxus? Pay up, brodie. That's how game companies make their money. It's a business. You need to understand that. This game is still F2P unless you're a tryhard that needs all the cards just to feel comfortable. People who are dedicated to the game deserve better content if they're willing to pay a little more money than the average player. The skin that you're whining about is a special bonus. I want to pick up the $80 bundle myself, just not for the skin. I don't care about the special skin at all. Special event items mean nothing to me, and I usually end up hating them specifically because I know I'll see more of it than I really want to.
That part where I mention how people want skins because they're skins, there wasn't a single moment where I was attempting to speak for you unless you purposely installed yourself within that mold that I was speaking of. You signaled in your response that you want the skin just because it's another skin. I've just spoken for you, even though you asked for me not to. If this wasn't the case, you wouldn't have installed yourself within the mold I was "speaking for". Whining and defeatist in one swoop? You're on fire today, kiddo.
I said "You're whipping up sensationalism and trying to get a rowdy crowd started like all of this is new that they're doing", with you replying that one specific thing is new. "Like all of this is new" concerned bundles with special reward for involving yourself in the pre-order craze. You're still harping on the Warlock skin. This seems to be your only point. Are you the kind of person that also complains about special tier rewards when you look over crowdfunding pages, or is this your first rodeo?
Concerning the Battlefront 2 fiasco, yes, no one said it was, but I'm directly pointing at you and saying you're inferring it is. All the language that you use, you speak of this all like it deserves press coverage. You are attempting tackling it like it's another Battlefront 2 festival. Considering I write quite a lot, I can read between the lines easier than most people, and I see what this is and what your problem is. It's fine, really, but making this out to be larger than it is, I'm just waiting for you to do a back flip for us with lit sparklers in each hand.
I hope you enjoy feeling annoyed when everyone but you is running around as Mecha-Jaraxxus.
the problem i had with this deal is, why put a 50$ preorder for 70 packs last expansion, and now go back to the old prepurchase prices? whales are gonna still get the prepurchase plus dozens of extra packs, but for the normal consumer probably will give up this offer, i've never bought a prepurchase until i knew almost the entire set, but if i get this one, probably will be the 50$ ones (unless during the prime day amazon releases a coins deal, then we'll see)
It's genius marketing. I bought the megapack because it's technically a whole 2p cheaper per pack, plus you get MECHA-JARAXXUS and the golden legendary. Might get the other pack too because second golden legendary plus more packs.
If you're complaining the skin being locked behind the paywall and you're free to play, then fair play. Hearthstone isn't the best at this, you're better playing Eternal / Shadowverse / Gwent, but if you want to keep playing f2p then hey, you can't get everything, right?
If you're complaining about the skin being locked behind the paywall because it costs more money? Welcome to capitalism. Go work some overtime or something. If you have children? You're excused, and you have my respect.
Someone pointed out that you can buy a Triple-A game like God of War for this money. Agreed. You should ABSOLUTELY buy God of War because the game is freaking great. But honestly.... most good games these days are indie games that cost $20 or less, and there are sales on all the time. It's up to you what you spend money on. :)

How about 1000 packs + hero for $1000..? Would you do it? Why not.. think about the value.....
Mega pack doesn't cost extra you still pay 1 dollar for every pack it just has hero bonus that seems reasonable to me
i play cubelock and lose 5 games in a row then i play odd paladin and get my stars back wash rinse repeat
It's just a skin...a cosmetic
