I find it absolutely ridiculous that one would have to spend 2-300 euros for an expansion just to be able to have all the cards released (that is if you're not unlucky, and i m not even taking golden cards into consideration) so that you can benefit almost full experience.
for 50/80 euros you get almost squadush. if you're lucky you can get away with a meta deck. maybe 2, maybe.
we're talking about an expansion that takes 3-6 months to develop. hell, let's say 1 year. and it costs 300 euros. why ? there are games (witcher 3!) which cost 5 times less and take years to develop.
what's the catch with blizzard ? do we need to pay extra for the brand like it's an iphone ?
doesn't make any sense to me. hopefully valve will have more sense in this regard.
Look, we can debate all day about whether the Mega Bundle is worth it or not - that's your preference.
And regardless of how overpriced you think it is, it doesn't matter - if you don't think it's worth it, simply don't buy it. No one is forcing you to.
If it is truly overpriced, very few people will buy it, and Blizzard won't make much money off of it - therefore, maybe the next time they have this sort of Mega Bundle it'll be cheaper, more people will buy it, and both us Hearthstoners and Blizzard will be happy.
On the other hand, if it truly is not overpriced, people who are willing and able to spend the money will buy it and people that aren't will not buy it. Blizzard is happy, and so are we (as a whole population).
This is basic microeconomics 101, and it's a win-win scenario for us. Either it's overpriced and the next one will be cheaper, or it's underpriced and we're all happy.
We got to EARN Arthas by completing wings. We were tested, and many of us prevailed. We earned that skin, and because we earned it, it will feel much more worth getting. We earned a special card back for beating Monster Hunt. The Puzzle Labs are coming out with this expansion. Why can't we earn Mecha Jaraxxus through Puzzle Lab completion?
It's funny how it is compared to Arthas. Yes, we had to EARN Arthas through decks from EVERY SINGLE CLASS specifically designed to beat him. This directly implies that in order to actually beat the guy, you need a pretty kick ass collection in the first place. If you are a free-2-play casual guy who doesn't spend a lot of time in HS and who doesn't have a large enough collection, you're out of luck. Basically EARNING Arthas is utterly contingent on your collection. Period. This argument may apply to people who spent a long time farming their collection for free but otherwise, I won't be surprised if Arthas is more expensive than Mecha-Jaraxxus when it comes to the money spent to acquire collection good enough to beat the Lich King with every class.

Actually most of the decks to beat the Lich King were quite inexpensive. you just needed a lot of patience. i actually completed this like 2 weeks ago.
people (like OP) just dislike the idea lock a skin behind paywall and we have 16 pages of shitstorm like now
they are, last time it was 50$ for 70 packs, and don't even start with that golden legendary, that is worth a lot less then 20 packs, plus it is a price increase for the best card-pack and that's clear. how can you deny that?
Yeah once they did the Witchwood 50 bucks for 70packs, they set a standard for what they can offer us at a 'pre-order' deal. The whole incentive for a cosmetic hero and reversing the previous deal on packs, is corporate hostage taking and devalues us, their customers,
How has this pointless thread gotten so big? Im more mad about free golden legendaries behind a paywall than a stupid hero skin that looks awful in comparison with normal Jaraxxus. Oh and the emotes are also trash. Meanwhile other hero skins i cant get ans they are not or were behind a paywall.
Get ur priorities right. Worry about cards. Worry about gameplay worry about the state of the game and how ridiculous the ladder is at AND get out of rank 20 cause surely a player worried about a cosmetic pointless item isnt anywhere near Legend rank.
Ppl worried about cosmetic stuff blow my mind since the existence of loot boxes. Like CSgo skins or OW. They barely look at the skin cause u know its an effing fps game!!!!
Get ur head straight and report back when u have grown out of puberty cause yes no normal adult would give 2 fucks about a hero skin
I have money. I like hearthstone. I spend money on hearthstone. Why the fuck do you care about how I spend my money?
Because it will impact the way I want to spend my money on this game in the future. It's not my fault you have no sense of worth and I'm not gonna pay for it

It was 50$ for 70 Packs this one time only! Don´t except that it will always be like this.
It´s a shame that the Hearthstone Community is just a bunch of Salt lords.. Kripp would be proud

It's easy to deny it. Personally, i prefer the golden legendary, you wanna know why? Easy.
The WW preorder was 50 bucks and 70 packs. The Boomsday is 50 bucks for 50 packs plus a golden legendary. This is clear.
1- Once you open 50+ packs, the dust returns of packs start to be diminishing. This is, you start to get a higher frequency on duplicates and therefore packs tend to give the player 40 dust, not the regular 100+ dust.
2- A golden legendary is equal to 1600 dust. This means that you have to open 16 packs that average 100 dust each, something already hard enough considering that you have to average that number in just 20 packs, and you also have to dust each and every card in those packs.
3- A golden legendary is WAY rarer and harder to obtain than any other card, and with this offer you already have it. You ALREADY hit the jackpot! With the 20 packs, you'll get WAY less than those 1600 dust, and it would be extremely rare to get a golden legendary.
4- A golden legendary, if you dust it, means you can craft a legendary of your choice. The importance of this is paramount. I would 100 times prefer to choose the legendary i want to get, than praying to the rng gods so that i get a legendary in those 20 packs in the first place, and then pray again so that it is the legendary i want.
Whether a golden legendary is worse than 20 packs or not is arguable at best.
So, please think twice before typing next time, and give it a little thought.
Wait isn’t it the same, $50 for 50, $80 for 80, it’s just scaled up with an extra bonus behind it, I don’t see a problem. Just another business model which isn’t hurting anyone really
Skin aside, 80 for 80 is a good deal + 1 Golden Legendary + card back. Its smart and I was hoping they would do something like this.
Yes i always wanted a bigger preorder like this and i can buy the 50 packs preorder to which give me 130 packs + 2 golden Legendaries.
Means for via Amazon Coins + Quest gold i get nearly the whole Expansion for 110 €/$ on Day 1, if i want it. While i don't think it is cheap but i can live with that.
Well. Its 18-20 Pizzas in Ukraine. Though it seems it is cheaper for our region (you pay in our currency , and in the end it will be something like 70$, which is still awfully expensive for 90% of our population). The average wages in Ukraine is like 400$ or something like that (and even that is not guaranteed, more often ppl will get like 300$ or even less). I dont even know what marketing you talking about guys - people should not pay 15-20% of their wages for digital childrens card game, thats just ridiculous. I dont know how Blizzard marketing team counting all that up - they clearly never been in Ukraine and know nothing about economical situation there. People from 1st world countries of EU complaining about price - well imagine you have to give out 20% of your wages for this shaize. I bet you won't be happy with that.
LOL so much people crying about cosmetic shit. Comestic shit doesn't affect game result so if you are the kind of guy that likes cosmetic shit just buy it or shut up.

Wow, the math on this post is really really bad. Let's take it from the beginning:
1) 100 is the average of what you get if you dust EVERYTHING. It's not the median (which could be as low as the minimum of 40 dust), but it is the average over all packs. Otherwise, if you had nothing then just getting the bare minimum of 4 commons and a rare would be worth 4*40+100 = 260 dust to you.
2) Breaking the packs into 50+20 and saying that 20 is too small of a sample size to hit the average is kinda disingenuous. On average people who get 50 packs will get 5000 dust and people who get 70 packs will get 7000 dust. Let's keep it as simple as that, if you used creative math you could say that since the median is 40 dust then the most probable outcome for opening a single pack would be 40 dust, so 70 times that would be 2800 dust. Which in reality is less than you'd get from 50 packs. Math can lead to pretty unrealistic results when you aren't careful with your assumptions.
3) You are correct in saying that you wouldn't typically get a golden legendary in 20 packs. If you care about owning golden legendaries this is the better offer.
4) If you're planning on disenchanting it to craft a legendary of your choice though, again the average is called average for a reason, on average people who buy 70 packs end up with 2k dust more than people who buy 50 packs. So I believe that if you want a gold legendary this is the better deal, but if you would dust it to craft a legendary of your choice then the 70 packs total are better. And the reason for my belief is that 3200>2000>1600.
And don't get me wrong I think that the mega bundle is a decent offer for people who like to buy packs to complete their collection, it just gripes me to see math used incorrectly to support either argument. Also if people are getting hosed with this deal it's probably people who like to play arena and also like jaraxxus because they would need to fork out $80 exclusively for jaraxxus since the packs are useless to them. I can't completely relate because I don't care that much for cosmetics, but I would feel far more sorry for them than for people who are *forced* to live with the second best preorder offer that blizzard has ever made instead of the best.
They are not forcing you to buy it. The game is still pretty much free to play and with all the events in between like the recent Taverns of time event you can have enough dust and gold to make 2-3 meta decks.
And yes Cosmetic skins should have a price, maybe even a high price is justified cause its art and those who want to invest in art are ready to pay huge sums for it. Hero Portraits are meant to be exclusive that do not effect game play. so its fine.
It's easy to deny it. Personally, i prefer the golden legendary, you wanna know why? Easy.

So, please think twice before typing next time, and give it a little thought.
I would,if your arguments were somehow valid or true.
Argument 2 is in my favor, you point out that that golden legendary is worth 16 packs, but that the golden legendary is very rare. That is true, but again, you point out that it is worth 16 packs.
In argument 3 you completely ignore the fact that there's a big chance that legendary would be unusable in any kind of competitive decks, don't pretend that you would have been happy for a golden Splintergraft. And you completely ignore that golden doesn't mean nothing for the actual game. That's just a nice visual effect. You like it, we get it. We don't care.
Argument 4 is invalid, yes you can craft another legendary with that 1600 dust you get for dezenchanting the golden one, but you can do more if you decide to dezenchant the contents of 20 packs, cause with that proven 90-100 avg dust per pack you'll have 2000 to spend.
In the end argument 1 is straight up A LIE, a big BIG LIE, this video will prove you wrong ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlOTNtUvhe8 ), no, really now, it's 90-100 dust per deck if you dezenchant all the cards in that said decks. If you don't already have that card and you would otherwise craft it it's times 4, so it would be 400 dust value per pack if you don't have any of the cards.
"So, please think twice before typing next time, and give it a little thought. "
