nobody forces you to buy a bundle. blizzard makes a free game for you and all you do is complaining about a skin which you are not getting for free. you'd rather pay 10 bucks for JUST the skin, like with Magni and Medivh? complaints like this are so annoying. just shut up and don't buy it then. it's a effin business!
you are expecting a free game where every new content is free too?
it's not blizzard/activision that's greedy, it's actually you!
It's not greed though, really. I admit, he's coming across fairly entitled, but I'm not trying to rub that notion in much more than I need to, nor am I trying to have this be a giant flame fest. He has a number of valid points, really. As much as I am challenging him and taking him to task, addressing him directly, he has a point. Mecha Jaraxxus only being available as an incentive for those of us who spend $80, I don't really agree with this idea. We got to EARN Arthas by completing wings. We were tested, and many of us prevailed. We earned that skin, and because we earned it, it will feel much more worth getting. We earned a special card back for beating Monster Hunt. The Puzzle Labs are coming out with this expansion. Why can't we earn Mecha Jaraxxus through Puzzle Lab completion?
I don't think earning special items like this is a bad thing. Blizzard wants to make money, and this time, they want to earn it, regardless of how people will feel. While some will feel left out, I've made mention multiple times that the skin can see a release again in the future. It's either get it now or get it later. Blizzard will see that people don't feel the best about having to spend almost $100 on packs to gain access to M-J. They will address this in the future and make it possible to get, more than likely. I would like Blizzard to make it so we can earn a skin, but I don't feel we have the right to force Blizzard to make decisions that have cost people who have already paid money for M-J.

A point that Blizzard has made is that things like hero portraits should have various ways to achieve acquiring them while still keeping the feeling that some are limited. This sort of thinking is the backbone of a CCG in both revenue but also among the any CCG community. Planeswalkers in MTG are an example of this. Trading, tournments or a friendly limited format are examples outside of just pack buying. Obviously it's not a 1:1 comparison here. One is just cosmetic the other has some powerful impact on games. Trading, tournaments and tournaments are also not really part of the equation, though we do have a limited format in arena. My point is that this sort of thing keeps the same sort of feeling but in a digital format.
I would also say that I MUCH prefer this than lets say getting some exclusive card you can only get via dropping 80 dollars. If the card is bad people will bitch, if the card is good people will bitch. This is completely cosmetic and ENTIRELY optional.
Lastly I would point out that blizzard STILL has the option to release it later. I know some may consider it a "slap to the face" to see it become available later when they paid for it. I don't think it would be many though. Were it the ONLY thing included in the 80.00 package that was different I would agree. But it's not. At 80 packs you are essentially guaranteed 3 legionaries including the free one. The 30 extra packs on top of the 50 alone is worth it but we are also getting M-J, essentially for free at the regular conversion rate of 1.00 to 1 pack.
Exactly what I was writing in short in the announcement thread but I got severely downvoted for having an edgy opinion. I‘m with you, this game is declared dead.
Dr_Scaphandre, you're acting just as entitled as the people who are trying to defend this preorder. Even though I do agree with you on a lot of parts, I have to admit your entitled attitude is bringing your own argument down and making people want to start flame wars with you.
If I was you, next time I'd argue this point, I'd recommend you tone down your attitude and fix your language. Your attitude in this thread is a perfect example of the Horseshoe Theory.
Exactly what I was writing in short in the announcement thread but I got severely downvoted for having an edgy opinion. I‘m with you, this game is declared dead.
I do agree that OP has a valid point. I really preferred the Witchwood bundle pack. $50 for 70 packs. Reverting the $50 for 50 pack + golden legendary which is equivalent to 3200 dust (if you want to craft your gold collection) or 1600 dust for those who are not lucky enough to get the legendary they want.
Anyway if you are not willing to pay for the skin, you just have to deal with it. Blizzard has done this "exclusive" thing so many times:
Every expansion card back
Tyrande portrait that required Twitch Prime
Khadgar required iOS only purchase for limited time
All these are missable skin that you will not be able to get it once you miss it.
You may say this is different. This is Jarraxxus we are talking about. But what happened to those who missed priest only skin Tyrande?
My point to OP is that you just have to deal with it. If you are not gonna pay for it, then don't. If you want to stop supporting all these exclusive cosmetic then don't purchase it during the early promo. You can bought those packs later when they're not discounted and deal with not having Jarraxxus portrait.
Anyway Blizzard pls stop making $1 per pack promo. Better just reduced the overall bundle cost after launched. =p
The way I see this is: There are two new card games incoming that look a lot better then HS right now Artifact (The Dota Card Game) and MTG Arena. The competition is rising and what is blizzard doing to please their customers? Well, they nerf cards and don't offer dust refund (Lynessa Sunsorrow, Jungle Moonkin and the others) and, ofc, they have to increase the price of pre-purchase. For me that's another slap in the face, and so, I'll skip any purchase this expansion.
It's just my opinion and I don't blame others for thinking otherwise. But this is very weird, lots of people obviously don't like the state of the game, or the expansion, or blizzards recent actions, but they are still putting more money into the game for the soul reason that they've already "invested" lots of money and don't want to fall behind. That's bullshit, it's not an investment, it's exactly the opposite in this case - a liability, it's better for you to just cut your looses and move on to something else.
And I also don't get why people call you entitled, you're just stating the obvious, you don't own anything to blizzard but they have to make good games to keep us interested.
Exactly what I was writing in short in the announcement thread but I got severely downvoted for having an edgy opinion. I‘m with you, this game is declared dead.
You "dead game" guys know Blizzard is a subsidiary of a publicly-traded company?
The company financials are available for all to see. Blizzard is doing incredibly well. I took a bath on Activision stock for reasons related to other game marketing, but if Blizzard was still a standalone, it would be very lucrative. If I'm not mistaken, their last release was Starcraft: Legacy of the Void, meaning all the income is coming from micro transactions in Hearthstone, Overwatch, and HOTS. HOTS isn't doing that well compared to the other two, meaning Hearthstone is more than carrying its weight.
I know its fun to do the dead game schtick, but no.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Yes, and no. Because giants fall in a matter of seconds. One clumsy step and you are falling into abyss, next week noone will remember you. That's the harsh truth of business. So far Blizzard is doing good, with Hearthstone in particular. But I never liked that merge with Activision
I am very happy that not everyone will have Mecha Jaraxxus. That will make it special. Getting it by doing stupid solo adventure would suck too. I am really tired of seeing that goatse card back. No, I don’t say “Look at that special guy, he has skills to defeat bosses. Wow!” when I see you.
I was planning on skipping this one because I believe I have enough resources gathered up already, and I don't have time to learn every competetive deck anyway. The preorder targettet guys like me pretty hard by offering more bonus stuff than ever before...
I know what they are doing... so many players having invested that much money in time into the game, how do you put it down? I have to be honest with myself at some point, do I enjoy the game enough, or am I just scared to miss out on packs and gold?
I don't agree that the megabundle is a bad thing, though. A lot of hardcore player would dump 100+$ every expansion anyway, so for them, it is just more value for their money.

Yeah, instead of that they'll say "Look at that rich guy,he has money to buy packs.Wow!"
It would be great,if you could buy heroes for 200-500$ this is just too cheap.

LOL so much people crying about cosmetic shit. Comestic shit doesn't affect game result so if you are the kind of guy that likes cosmetic shit just buy it or shut up.

I'm kinda torn on this. I'm one of those people that buys the each expansion, and overall probably spend $200-$300 a year on Hearthstone, but I play nearly 1000 hrs a year so I'm really only looking at a Quarter for every hour I'm playing... Makes you realize how crazy arcades are...
I will also likely get the $80 bundle, but I do think that $80 is a bit much... I feel it should be something like this $10 - Mecha-Jarraxus $50 - 70 packs (you gave us it once so don't go backtracking on us now blizzard!) $80 - 100packs + Mecha-Jarraxus (I think this gives a price point for just about everyone while giving enough incentives and value to want to move up to the next tier)
you missed the "random golden legendary" worth around the 20 Packs (and the card back, worth some $), so you have your $80 - 80 packs + 1 random golden legendary + Mecha-Jarraxus + Cardback - a good deal in the end!
Dear OP, after reading 14 pages of replies I decided to take some time and elaborate the data we have to understand if Blizzard is "going too far", taking advantage of you and us with these bundles.
This is a mathematical analysis based on data from Blizzard itself and data on Hearthstone wiki, such as average dust value per pack (102.71) and legendary pity timer set at 40. Keeping in mind that for a new expansion the pity timer is set to an initial value of 10. This analysis keeps the DUST on DOLLARS as a primary unit of measure, since it's the only one that could be applied in this case. Sentimental value for a Hero pic or a card back cannot be quantified and I believe that if someone WANTS that hero, he'll get it anyway.
I also used a theoretical NON GOLD legendary card value as a unit for the pity timer, since it's impossible to calculate the chances of getting a golden legendary, and it's only a plus when it happens.
Please see the attached image, I'm willing to share the google spreadsheet file to anyone.
TL:DR: Blizzard is going far yes...in giving you a great offer. Buying 130 cards from them from these bundles you're getting not only a hero, but a dust/$ value of 151.29 dust per dollar VS a 68.70 dust per dollar value if you buy an individual pack.
Here, I solved it for you :)
edit: some minor typos and initial pity timer set to 10 packs, considering you're not opening ANY pack before starting the bundle unpacking.
thank you for your sheet, it explains perfectly that this mega bundle is as good as the witchwood deal
Thought they were moving towards a more casual friendly price model with the +20 bonus and the everybody get in here bundle but it looks like they are just testing the effect of different kinds of offers.
I don´t understand why so many are salty about this bundle.
50$ = 50 Packs, 1 Golden Legendary
80$ = 80 Packs, 1 Golden Legendary, New Skin for Warlock
So what´s the problem? It´s just a Cosmetic and if ur not willing to get it for free if u pay 30$ more (on top of 30 additional Packs) then don´t do that .
