Eh, The Witchwood is a toolbox set. Toolbox sets aren't meant to look obviously impressive like, for example, a loud release like Frozen Throne will. Toolbox sets exist to sprinkle cool new toys for a wide variety of people to try over time. And I guarantee you over time more and more Witchwood cards will worm their way into various decks. This exact thing happened with TGT - set seemed kinda' shitty overall, then suddenly a while later various cards from it started showing up more and more here, there, and everywhere.
The reason a lot of people are initially disappointed with the set is simply because its big hooks didn't immediately detonate the meta like Quests and Death Knights did. But I bet you a very large percentage of decks out there have at least a single Witchwood card in them. And I bet if you take every single one of those single cards, you'll end up with a decent little chunk of the set. And I'd consider that a win to be quite honest with you.
So you're literally saying that because witchwood cards are at all used, it's a win? I don't understand how this is an argument for it being a good expansion. It's an argument for it not being totally unusable. Also note that this is right after a rotation. Witchwood has the least amount of cards to compete with so expectations for its cards being used are even higher than normal.
Why is it good to have an expansion that has little viable flavour to it?(Toolbox) Even worse, so far even decks that do have cards like baku in it are mostly not defined by it gameplay-wise. It's just an addition that makes it stronger. Maybe if it enabled a ton of previously completely unused deck archetypes it would be okay(still not great), but it doesn't seem to do much of that either.
I just don't see it having that much gameplay value over having just the rotation without the expansion. Would that much really change if the expansion wasn't there?
Big problem for most ladder deck, is capable of dealing with Cube, Paladin and Spiteful deck. If you tech vs 1 kind of deck too much the other decks give you problem. In my experience Control Mage can deal with Cube deck nicely, 50/50 vs paladin and slightly favoures vs spiteful decks. The deck doesnt do anything crazy , just grinding style but if you want a deck have a chances vs most of the popular deck, give Control Mage a try. Auto lose matchup is quest rogue only
Its not the problem of amount packs and decks. This is problem of playing process, we have one "rewarding" playable regime (standart), which is basically a den of all decks without any choise flexibility and ban options. If you'll drop 50 spiders in a small jar, how many and which will survive? The only one - strongest (smartest, fastest, etc), and there is no option to survive 2,3-5 spiders. Standart is the same, 50 great decks thrown in a brawl, and only one is playable with higher winrate.
We'll see what they are going to propose as a tournament mode without Ben... Maybe this will add more flexibility in strategies. Coz single player regime that they invest a bunch of resources is one-time crap, as well as brawls.
I'm playing since officials release, and focus mainly on arena since Ungoro, because it has at least some sort of variability and unpredictability. Every month hitting rank 5 in couple days, coz in further grind i dont see any sense or entertainment.
Tesl and gwent even more dissappointing, maybe artefact later on will be a fresh air, but doubting.
Like how about we just, you know, give them feed back that helps them with the balancing part to take into consideration ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But that would be asking to much from the cry-baby agro pally players to have to deal with decks that have walls that even trump could be proud of.

Right
The issue is there is no reason to buy WW packs. After crafting Baku and Geen, you can survive on YotM cards.
Witchwood is the toolbox of tools the optional tools you buy for fun or to be cool. You don't need it nor might you need it.
None of the WW decks are any good. Tier 1-3 are 95% old decks.
The sole new meta deck that is any good is Rush Warrior.
Still power level whining ? I was expecting them to decrease power level with new expansions and it happened.
In yugioh in order to sell new set they were promoting decks with high power level with every new expansion old cards became unplayable and game got to a ridiculous point.
For the Heartstone they also increased power level of the expansion that became ridiculous too much value for given turn increased with every expansion after MSG because it is a good way to increase sales.
But the real problem is not the WW being low power. Problem is the old expansions with high power level they decrease impact of the new expansion. If they do what you demand and increase power level again heartstone will be unplayable.
So in order to make a stronger expansion they should nerf the old cards to make WW cards playable
That is why I am calling for nerfs entire time in the forums.

thank you for prividing a reasonable opinion that sparks debate rather than flame war; it is quire rare in here.
I like the Witchwood tbh; it has nice cards that flourish right now and cards that will flourish in the future. Maybe they are not the best carsd like in KFT bt at least we get to relax and play all 9 classes with a WR higher than 50% (i think) while we wait for the blockbuster in 4 months.
For a mid year expansion I would agree, but this one also had a set rotation. When the same 2 deck types (aggro pally and cubelock) dominate before and after a rotation, it is a bit disappointing.
The format evolves over time. We all knew Cubelock and Dude Pally would be good, so it's not a surprise that lo-and-behold they are top tier right after the expansion drops. Give people time to develop tuned decks with the new cards. I would be more worried if people had figured out the best Witchwood card-based decks already. The fact the meta looks exactly like we expected is not a problem and just means that until the meta changes you should exploit the fact the meta is figured out right now and build decks that prey on the ones you face the most.
Or I guess you could rant and rave about how bad the expansion is. One of those options is productive, the other YMMV.
Since Cubelock and Dude Paladin weren't losing much in rotation I don't see how it matters at this juncture. Hold-over decks are always popular right off the bat as they are known quantities in the meta and don't require spending money on new cards. It's just human nature. I've played MTG since 1995 and in every Standard format rotation the old popular deck(s) that make it through rotation mostly intact reigns supreme for a few weeks before people figure out what new cards are actually good. If we're still in Cubelock (which if the meta reports are to be believed isn't even the best Warlock deck) and Dude Paladin hell in a few weeks then I can agree that maybe Blizzard will need to step in, but right now it's too early to make any kind of definitive judgments on Witchwood.
I actually like the expansion, I think that they need to tune some cards to the new power level they want for the game but I see a decent amount of decks at rank 3, I consistently play against: face hunters, cube lock, zoolock, aggro/even pally and spiteful priest/druid(and a few mages)
If I've noticed anything from these comments it's that the VAST majority of users who love the meta have only been playing HS for a few months. Check their profiles - most started around KFT and Kobolds. Explains a lot when veteran players try to address legitimate issues with the development and direction of the game, and newcomers are too enamored with their new toy that they don't want to understand the reality that the game just isn't fun after you get over the honeymoon stage - and the reason for that is because of poor development. Why do you think Brode and the executive producer jumped ship?
IMO odd/even got very little support. Only the cat for odd mage is decent, no one uses the priest odd one or shaman even.
Also they keep pushing archetypes that don't work. Or they start one and give up, like freeze shaman last expansion, did they give up on that? Never even took off.
How about control hunter? When is that going to be a thing?
They could have made more quests. That would have at least been more fun.
This expansion is terrible. I've been playing since Nax and don't remember a time when the meta became stale quicker than now. I mean, really, it took maybe 2 days before the masses stopped experimenting and settled down to Aggro Pally, Cube, and Spiteful decks. Why? Because the devs dropped the ball on play testing and planning. Plus, to be honest, most players can't even afford a whole new set of fun decks because of how expensive Hearthstone has become. I opened 180 packs after WW and didn't even have the ability to craft every major deck in ranked. It's time for the community to step up and start demanding from Team Five.
I actually think it was a step in the right direction, but with a few big mistakes and still having certain cards around led to it being a face-garbage cancer aggro meta again.
IMO they should just change all charge cards to rush and re-balance the hp/atk on them if necessary. Charge will always lead to more face-garbage meta.
IMO odd/even got very little support. Only the cat for odd mage is decent, no one uses the priest odd one or shaman even.

They could have made more quests. That would have at least been more fun.
Every odd cost card supports the ODD decks and every even cost card supports the EVEN decks, making cards that only work on those spesific circumstance makes them utterly useless outside of them.
If they give too much power to hunter then it just steamrolls the game again, it's why hunter still doesn't have good draw or healing.
The quests never really took off, only two or three were actively played during Un'Goro and then they nerfed one of them because people continued to bitch and whine so it really doesn't give the dev's incentive to make more. They would rather make more Hero cards because those were actually good and usefull in a large amounts of decks even still today.
...the masses stopped experimenting and settled down to Aggro Pally, Cube, and Spiteful decks.
...most players can't even afford a whole new set of fun decks...
XD
Self-defeating statements are self-defeating! Haha! I love it when ranters slip up and make mistakes like these. It makes the counter argument so easy.

We have more decks in ladder than it was before, what's wrong with this expansion then?
cubelock want destroy? get two 3/2 ozze in your and and another 3/3 ozze .
pally get aoe spells alot to prevent them from respawn and spreading minions.
I am happy i did not pre-order this garbage this time. :-) I bought 15 packs only. 15 + the 7 free packs.
