I've been listening to some players write or say their issues with C'thun decks. They are brainless, they are powerful, and everyone has it. Looking back, though, I realize that these aspects are less problems for the game and more solutions for the problems new players typically face.
Throughout hearthstone's lifespan, new players have always had one option to get started with the game: make a face deck. Face decks are easy to get to work, which is great since new players are..well.. new and inexperienced. They are also cheap as they typically compose of mostly commons and rares and, at best, are enhanced by one legendary that's not required.
So what happens when said new player wants to play other playstyles? You can't early on. It requires too many high cost cards and watered down versions just don't work. So they have to play aggro until their collection builds up or they at least get enough skill to make a less efficient deck work.
Or, nowadays, they can play C'thun. They get the big reqiured legendary and a few starting cards. A lot of the rest of the C'thun carsd are commons and rares. Twin Emperor is POWERFUL but not required to make the deck 'work'. Meanwhile arena will give just old gods cards, giving players who work in arena a better chance at buildin a c'thun deck.
He's easy to use because he's meant for new players. He's powerful because new players don't want 'a deck', they want a deck that actually scores wins. And C'thun ISN'T going to be a tier 1 deck in the end, though it may stay competitive. He's given to everyone so that new players can actually do something other than play face decks.
Within the next few weeks, we'll get more cards and deck builders will start chiming in with new decks. We'll move on from C'thun into other decks. But he'll still be viable for new players. Not as fast at growing as a face deck but it will work.
Thus why he is as he is and why the deck works the way it does. It's purposely done that way and a way to give new players more options to get into the game.
And it means less aggro in the meta from free accounts. Though from the complaints that doesn't seem to matter.
i agree that c'thun makes the start of the game a lot easier, even most of the c'thun followers are pretty cheap to obtain due to them being commons :)
It's very possible to get completely viable C'Thun decks from the 13 free packs. Just from the packs I got a very respectable C'Thun Warrior on one server I wasn't playing, and on the other server a very nice C'Thun Druid with a lucky Twin Emperor pull. It's no doubt very exciting for a new player.
I used to hate C'thun decks because I thought they were op, but they are actually just really straightforward and mostly boring curve decks It's basically like Arena decks in constructed.
Also, I think people have been building their C'thun decks wrong so far. They either have too many or too few cultists
i agree c'thun is the Sole reason one of my friends that previousdly deemed hearthstone too pay2win to be worth his time came back to the game, he was stuck with face huner before and whenever i go to a gaming cafe here and ask guys what do they play in hearthstone the answer is almost always "hunter because i don't have more cards"

I don't understand how can anyone come to that conclusion. C'thun decks are opposite of P2W. The main legendary is free, the cultists are almost all common and rare, and the other legendary, while good, isn't necessary at all. Like what OP has said, C'thun is a job well done by Blizzard in offering up an alternative to aggro for new players.
People complain about the meta being too aggro, and that is caused by all of the cheap and easy to play decks being aggro. Blizzard listens to the community and brings out a viable alternative for new players to get them away from aggro, and now everyone complains about that. The Hearthstone community will never be happy I guess.
I actually don't play that many Cthun decks on ladder right now, and I don't think they are OP in any way, so I don't see why people have an issue with them.

It could have been clearer, for sure. Had it looked like this:
i agree.C'thun is the Sole reason one of my friends, who [had] deemed hearthstone too pay2win to be worth his time, came back to the game. he was stuck with face huner before and whenever i go to a gaming cafe here and ask guys what do they play in hearthstone the answer is almost always "hunter because don't have more cards"
C'Thun decks are great. They have average-to-good strength and consistency (which is much more important, imo) and are accessible to new players. Yeah, they can be a bit brainless/boring, but I'd much rather have them than Face Hunters.
If you're losing to C'Thun decks too often, find ways to build bigger (not necessarily wider) boards and always keep removal for when the Big Eyeball himself is played - preferably a transmutation like Hex or Polymorph so that Doomcaller can't bring him back. Some C'Thun cultists are really good at trading, so building a board can be hard, and that's why I think most people complain. Taking 14-20 damage to face from a Battlecry sucks.
I created a new account after rotation, and C'Thun definitely made the experience better. In a new account with just a few packs opened, all you can do is build a midrange deck. (Even a face deck took time to build - you need to unlock some adventure wings to get a credible face deck.)
The problem with the beginner midrange decks before is that you had no finisher. You might be able to keep up in the early game, but you would be either be overwhelmed by the higher quality aggro, or the value cards in the strong decks. This is why everyone was desperate to craft Dr. Boom (or build a face deck).
C'Thun now gives you a finisher. This way you have a deck that has at least a chance against stronger decks. And perhaps there may be a greater diversity amongst new players. In a few months, they might not want to sink resources into the LoE wings needed for Aggro Shaman, since rotation will loom.
I agree with you, many other posters and especially the op. I left the game during the secret Pali meta absolutely disgusted with the game. When returning the other day, my first thought about c'thun decks were that they are just as mindless but not as strong or annoying to play against repeatedly. After more thought, I'm glad they are there for the new players. I rarely lose to them and when I do it feels like a gimmick, but I'm sure new players find it fun to play and they should be able to pull out some crazy wins here and there. The twins are low on my craft list but I think it's great that new players can have a "must craft" legendary that will allow them to play with all the classes, have a bit of success and help them figure out what class they like the most because they can use that shell with any of them.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Very good post! +1
C'Thun cancer is worse than aggro IMO. So disgusted by that piece of shit

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.
