A LoL-Streamer I used to watch played it in open beta and got me interested, started playing as soon as it was publicly accessable. Never actually quit but if I compare the amount of games I've played to the amount of games other people played I appear to be a damn casual, lol. I usually only do the quests everyday, though if I feel especially motivated ( new expansions, ranked actually being fun, etc. ) I also play several hours a day. (I'm at ~3k wins in Play Mode and at ~700 in Arena).

I think a lot of people just have a lot of time and play too much. I had the game since closed beta and I only have ~700 wins play mode and ~2400 arena. Too lazy to even do daily quests every day ~_~
Blizz made a small announcement that they'd have something new to show us at Pax, and there were rumours of a new Diablo expansion and more swirling around, and even though we knew it probably was something else I still tuned in for that live stream hoping that it would be something cool.
It turned out to be Hearthstone, and I got pretty interested during the announcement of the game, but what hooked me was the show match they did at the end, live commentated by the "super excited" Ben Brode. Watching that game was dragging me further and further into wanting to play this game, and then when they dropped Jaraxxus I was like "I'M PLAYING THIS GAME, I DON'T CARE WHAT IT TAKES"
I was a mod at MMO-Champion, which meant I got a heads-up about HearthPwn.com starting up, so I joined here first day it was live, quickly became part of the early community and was asked to become the first actual moderator by Fluxflashor (who was then just installed as the Community Manager for the site).
Site grew, community grew, playing first on Cockatrice (a programme that would help you emulate how HS worked in a simplified manner, with no visual effects, and manual operated RNG) and before long the US beta launched and some weeks after the EU beta, which I joined the first day it was open.
Things kind of went from there. I'm kind of in awe looking back on how the game, and this website evolved during the past few years and how much fun I've had both playing the game and being part of the community. It's been a hell of a ride. :D

I got invited to closed beta. I'm nearly always (it was always until Overwatch, blizz plz!) getting invites to Closed Beta, I don't know why, but I always play them and give feedback. Hearthstone just sticked with me.
Started playing a few weeks after Hearthstone went mobile. I saw a few friends playing the game and after teasing them about this being the nerdiest thing I'd ever seen, I downloaded the game. In a few weeks I became obsessed and bought blackrock mountain and naxx. Currently enjoying the game and am the only one of my friends who still plays.
I liked MtG back to the days. But online MtG always was unplayable crap. When HS was released I was sure it's not even close to MtG in level of detail. I decided to watch HS World Championship (which Firebat won) just to decide worth it playing or not. I liked it and started playing and watching it a lot.
I had heard about it from one of my wife's coworkers during a Halloween party a few years back but wasn't interested as I wasn't of the boardgame/dnd/card game variety of nerd. I dismissed it as I had been out of WoW for an expansion or two, and wasn't on the SC2 hype-train (I only recently bought SC2 and the first Xpac, but have yet to play them!! haha)
Fast forward to February 2015 and my best friend irl, who still occasionally played WoW told me I should try it. So I played the tutorial and thought, this is alright, kinda boring, but I was happy to not have lost any of those opening matches. Then the quests (and rewards $.$) started coming in. My first arena run, which I went 6-3 (LOL) got me hooked. Then winning a bunch of play mode matches in ranked/casual (I stayed up up until 3 on my tablet playing that night in bed).
Have been hooked ever since for varying reasons.

At the time it was the hearthsteed mount in wow. I had tried it out before just to see what it actually was, but never got serious about playing until shortly after the mount. I have always enjoyed card games quite a lot and after i gained a more thorough understanding of the game i was am enthralled.
Of course it is probably important to mention whenhearthstone was made availible on smartphones is the moment i became fully addicted because i could play it anywhere at any time.

I started Hearthstone because Warcraft went to hell in a hand basket, isn't no cure to come back from that slaughter of development.
Hoping the same thing doesn't happen with Hearthstone. Or I'm going to play League of Losers.
Been playing since December 2015, love this game.

It sounds weird but I play HS because I hear about it on Pokémon TCG Online
Salty Priest players after the Karazhan Reveal Livestream on ALL the forums:
Because by bro papyrus was nagging me. its a good game though.
Mysterious Challenger : "Who am I? None of your business!"
Eater of Secrets: "Oh, I believe it is. You see, you are now my bitch!"
I've always wanted to try a TCG game and when a TCG game came out based on WoW I jumped on the chance. Hooked ever since.
was bored of other games I was playing and hearthstone was easy to pick up, especially back in early 2014.

Ex- Day-1 WoWer, still in love with the lore. Started playing after Release, and was hooked ever since.

stumbled across it in the app store a couple months before the tv advertisements and couldn't stop playing.
