sorry mate gonna have to disagree with you there. The changes are good for the game, literally everyone that has played previous TCGs knows that. Standard will actually make it cheaper to make top tier decks not harder like most people think it will.
You are complaining about Blizzard failing to balance Wild before the format even exists as a separate entity from Standard. That makes no sense whatsoever.
Unless you suffer of long-term memory loss, it does. Blizzard is on a record for being extremely slow at nerfing obviously broken decks and combos (Unleash+Buzzard, Undertaker, Patron chargers), and that was back then in a format that was actually cared for and which they at least TRIED to control. Why do you think the format is called "Wild", exactly? Because it will see no preventive balance and just go with all the cards without control and only if something insanely bad pops out then they will "react" and fix it.
Casual+Brawl = Wild. A format made expressely so people couldn't call them out for removing cards which they're instead just throwing into a non-competitive, forgotten and hard to get into format.
Try using your brain, memory and logic instead of just gobbling up whatever thing a PR marketer says.
When you dump something down the toilet it disappears while still existing in the sewers. Welcome to Wild mode, "it's not like they took our cards away".
Reading some of the comments here is always good for a laugh. I think I'll return here occasionally when I'm feeling down. Thank you for the post.
Now, as for the changes and how this is good.
You mentioned that a reason for this is because Blizzards thinks that new players are stupid and won't understand it. That's not the reason at all. It's so players coming into the game later down the road aren't overwhelmed by the shear number of cards they would need to get in order to play competitively. And the reason for the packs being taken out of the store is for the same reason. Down the road after we've seen a dozen expansions, the store would get cluttered and a new player would have no clue where to begin. Now they'll only ever have 3 packs to choose from.
As someone who only got back into MTG a short while ago, I can say I'm glad for the standard format they have because it means I won't have to worry about looking through the last 20 years of cards.
This will also mean they have room to play around with cards. By removing most of the mech, they now have some room to play with more mech synergy if they wanted too, with less risk of creating a stupidly strong combo. It's allowing them to experiment with other cards that might be otherwise broken with the right combination of cards from previous sets.
Someone pointed out that, they're not even removing cards. They're simply creating 2 modes to play ranked. One more specific to a tournament setting, and another for mountains of fun. All those cards that you have now will still be of value to you.
I will say, I would like the option for buy packs from previous sets at some point, but then Blizzard would need to put hem in a separate place so that new players wouldn't accidentally buy them, seeing how they won't have access to Wild right away.
TL;DR Good for players as Blizzard can experiment with more cards.
A formate that will always be changing with cards going in and out.
Another formate where you have freedom to use every card out there.
More balanced meta.
It has nothing to do with money because anyone who buys packs right when an expansion comes out would be doing so anyways.
Blizzard should have created a new server called "Whiners" and made it a snapshot of exactly where HS is today. No nerfs, no expansions or new content ever. Server costs can be paid by pack and adventure sales (which there won't be much of because most of the whiners seem to be FTP, and if not, collections will be completed reasonably quickly) or player donations (lol).

I'm not sure why I'm bothering since your an obvious troll. But in case you really are that thick.
Blizzard has said that while they don't plan on making a lot of balance changes to Wild, they will nerf anything if it gets out of hand.
As for past nerds. The only one that took a while was Patron, but only because it did take skill to pull off correctly. Not only that, but they're not likely to just slap a change onto a card the moment the community cries "OP NERF NOAW". They have to do a couple things.
1. If the problem isn't abused in every deck, wait and maybe the community will create a counter deck/find a way around it.
2. Find the culprit behind said problem.
3. Try out numerous changes to make sure they don't make it worse or create something else just as bad.
Let's look at the Patron deck as an example. The deck needed a fair amount of precut planing and skill to pull off correctly. There were a few decks that showed promise against it, but eventually those proved to not be entirely effective as they weren't too good against most other decks. Now they have to figure out which card is causing the most problem. Grim Patron, Frothing Beserker, or Warsi Commander. Now they have to experiment with each card different ways to see what changes are best for the game and the future.
You seem to have little knowledge of development, the effort going into this and the people working on it.
I like how you went on a rant with Patron and completely ignored the 8 months or so that they didn't touch Buzzard+Unleash or Undertaker Hunter.
Also, "Blizzard has said", really? I don't believe them. All of their past actions literally scream of how Wild will see little to none attention, I couldn't care less about what PR state. Less words, more facts and logic and critical thinking are required.

The Undertaker Hunter period was before I started playing Hearthstone. In any event, if the format system existed then, it would have broken Standard at the same time (since Wild was the same thing as Standard), so you cannot view that episode as being a particular problem with Wild. If you think Blizzard is fundamentally unable to balance its game, perhaps Hearthstone is not a great choice as a hobby?
At this point, you are probably not doing your cause (whatever it is), very much good with your negative attitude. Instead, why not do something constructive?
Wild is going to need unofficial tournaments, for 2016 at least. Why not help push for the creation of a body of players that can create a card ban list for those unofficial tournaments? You could call yourself the "Wild Players Association." If this group did a credible job, Blizzard could possibly even move to provide official support for this ban list within the game. (And if no cards need to be banned, apparently Blizzard did a great job of balancing Wild.)
i never play magic because is so expensive, like all the people here, and like all people that play Hearthstone here....but this change...
pls nerf, you have a digital game and you can do easy, this game dont require a 100 dollar /year /person ...i and the most people dont play this if is the continue of Magic...comeback to magic and stop ruined our game pls
You do understand that a year from now, maybe two, this game would be super expensive if they stayed in the same system that we have now. Over time you would need multiple cards from multiple sets. That's a major problem, along side the immense power creep that would need to happen to get the new expansions on par with the older ones. Every 2 drop going up against mad scientist, knife juggler, haunted creeper, shielded mini bot. The only way to make people play with other cards is make better ones. So how about you take away that eternal competition in one format and leave it in another? Well then you have the perfect plan to set hearthstone on a great path for longevity.

"I realized life is this crazy, mystical thing, and sometimes you just go out like a buster."
I his point is nothing. Digital or not, there is not way to continuously release cards strong enough to see play without either rotating or banning the old ones. At least this way we know when things are leaving.
This. I cringe everytime someone spouts "B-but MTG does it too!" without realizing how different the two environments are.
Elaborate on why HS is so different compared to other card games. Btw you do realise MtG has been played digitally since 2002 right?
All MTG games only copy existing paper cards. Digital does not mean that it is on a pc. It means that HS is unrestricted by any real cards and that they can do what ever they want. But instead the just refuse any attempt at balancing and even wait 6-8 Months to nerf clearly op cards. Which shows their incompetence in the matter.
pls refrain from using the "but but Magic!" argument ever again. It is getting old.
You know, there is a reason that people have the ability to use chemical/nuclear weapon but seldom do. That's because it has really bad influences. The same reason apply for HS, just because it has the ability to change cards doesn't mean it's a good idea.
By the way, "LOL does it" is an even worse argument if you can think about it.
I'm not sure if it's been brought up yet. But I'm starting to feel they may have decided to make the decision to remove sets now, as they are intending to add a new class to the mix sooner than they had originally anticipated.
The only way they could logically add a new class is by getting rid of older sets so they don't have to worry about having to feel in for the backlog of class cards from old content.
I'm still confused as to why they will be removing old adventures altogether, but it's not impossible that the new class's mechanics are so out there that they could break old adventure design.
I doubt it will be in the upcoming expansion, but what if it was at the end of the year of the "Kraken"/ start of the next removal phase...?
I'm convinced theyre getting rid of the old adventures to save space for the mobile game. people dont like huge apps.

If you thought this game was ever intended to be truly "f2p" you're naive. Everything is about money.
Rotations happen in every card game everywhere, and they're not getting rid of anything. They'll still have Wild mode.
"It's not like they took your cards away, they just threw them in the Sewers!"
Also rotation happens in every PHYSICAL card game because of the impossibility of retroactively fixing cards, which isn't a problem with hearthstone. But good job parroting those two phrases like everyone else.
Rotation happens in every DIGITAL card game too. *Coughs* Magic Online. *coughs*

This is not why physical card game rotate. It is done to keep the game fresh. Like it is here...

It's done because it's impossible to change already existing physical cards from within people's houses, so the only choice is to ban them from playing. That is not the problem here.

Nerfing old cards so that new cards are better (playable) is just retro-active power creep and would destroy the game.
Standard is the only sensible way to ensure consistent changes to the meta without destroying the games legacy.
Basically every class is set to certain decks just by hero power and basic/clasic cards. Since those dont realy change and yeah (1-20 nerf wont do the trick here). I wonder why so many people think that there will arise anything new/fresh with standard.
Itl be replacement hell. Can I replace Druid combo? Can I replace shilded, muster, avenge??
Archetypes like Zoo stick around Alpha because hero power of warlock and basic cards like imp/void/power overwhelming provide such a deck. That goes also for facehunter, Control warrior etc.
What this game needs is diverse hero powers at least 2 for every class and a rotating core set. Than there is a chance that something new and fresh will arise.
Ofcause there is the problem with rotating core sets that its not "new player friendly" but there could be easy ways arround it for example make the rotating part free to use for everybody in standard like hero rotation in HOTS/or LOL.
Would be way more newcommer friendly than this standard idea, IMO its one of the biggest lies about standard. "newcommer friendly".... WHAT?? Can I get this joke in color plz?!
Tier 1 deck crafting cost is exactly the same in standard than it is now. There is 0 difference in the buy in, required to play competetive. Also Nerf of classic will result in more cards need to be crafted in every new set. So the argument but classic/basic stays is not a valid one either.

I think you're the drunk one. You're just trolling the thread - If you don't like the rotation - Simple solution: STOP FUCKING PLAYING.
It is good for the game, which is why Blizzard is doing it. Simple as that. Don't like it? It is so simple to just quit.
And I'll say what I tell everyone,
if you pay money into a FREE TO PLAY game, that is YOUR OWN choice. I chose to spend money on the game, probably more then you ever have, even in the last month, after knowing about the changes, but you don't hear me whining like a babby, because that was MY CHOICE.

What is the difference between rotating a set or having to nerf all the OP cards in order to make people buy new expansions? There is no difference except now you can play old OP cards in Wild mode.
