I wouldn't call zoolock very fun, but it#s at least challenging in form of manouvering around voidlords and the right positioning of your minions.
I suggest picking a control warrior with the quest, but without baku. It allowes you to crush all paladins/hunters/mages but can struggle against warlock and taunt druid. Shaman with shudderwock is quite even.
Ranked play in general is what isn't fun. Not for long - always a stale meta and a work-like grind. So craft a fun deck - thief rogue is the closest deck to being competitive of the fun decks, but Wild Casino Mage with Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is still the bees knees for fun. Steal Priest is also good, and maybe Shudderwock counts. Maybe.
Don't be afraid of creating a Wild fun deck even if you don't play Wild, since that lets you add a few cheap old cards that improve your deck.
Want to have your cake and eat it too? Specialize in Priest and create a strong Spiteful deck for not that much, and then add the steal and meme cards plus Lyra the Sunshard for a second very fun deck. This is what's happening with one of my two f2p accounts.
The best part of dedicating yourself to a fun deck is that it's forever. Your crafts rarely become obsolete, the deck remains interesting expansion after expansion.
PS - If you think that "winning" is what's fun, then just play the innkeeper. Use a fun deck, and yes, that is fun. Otherwise not so much.
PPS - If you like control, I have a hunch that quest taunt warrior, is going to be a permanently relevant deck, since it now has enough weapons to be the natural counter to all aggro decks. Even once the quest leaves standard, I think it will be forever competitive in Wild. The more aggro decks there are, the better it will do, and the more the designers will be willing to add useful warrior cards to help it along. My other f2p account is dedicated to Quest taunt Warrior.
I have around 5k dust, I wanna climb the ladder in a fun way but I have no idea what kind of deck to use.
I was looking at even paladin, but apparently it's not fun to play as?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Edit: didn't realise the community was this salty, but thanks for the people that actually gave advice!

Pay for your ladder climb like everyone else. Shun the F2P! SHUNNNNNAHHHHHHHH
Odd Paladin.
Control priest, my favourite deck nowadays
Odd Rogue might be the best f2p deck out there, something like that:
Honestly, i dont like Marsh Drake and Acherus Veteran , try to craft Vicious Fledgling and Leeroy Jenkins asap until then play with 2x Glacial Shard imo.
If you can squeeze some more dust Murlock Paladin is insane.

Play taunt-druid it's fun and good
go wild, play jadewock, it s fun and climbs.
I've been playing since the beginning, mostly for fun. That paladin deck would be fine to play and you could use a lot of the cards in wild too.
Greymane also works well in Rogue decks and there is a ftp variant.
I try to be wise with my dust and craft things that I can get use in multiple decks and formats.
