I dont see any point. I wasted so many cards and dust thinking expensive decks would perform well but I do way better with decks that cost next to nothing. Although I capped at 12 so Idk.
Public Mod Note
(Chimera):
Moved to General Deck Building
To me its just a matter of having more fun during games. You get so bored when playing nothing but aggro, and with more highcost cards you can play around with alot more synergies
Many of the more expensive decks would take a lot of skill to perform well with. You can't just craft any deck and assume you'll get to legend with it. They take tons of practice most of the time to learn and play well with them. If they just innately did better than all other cheaper decks wouldn't every legend player use the most expensive decks they could possible play?
That's because building an aggro (cheap) deck is easier than building a control (expensive) deck.Control needs a fine balance between threats.answers and draws, while you need to make the best out of your answers you draw(mulligan fucks control over many times).
As for cost ,expensive doesn't mean good and that's a good thing. You should play what you like playing. You like aggro decks (usually cheap) play them, you like control(expensive) then play control.Playing something just because is expensive is lame. The game shouldn't be p2w anyway.
Firebat says that build and master aggro decks is the most difficult thing. I can't give you a source but he was speaking about this in the first week of WoG.

No strategy is flawless, no card no matter the expense is unbeatable, and in the end it all comes down to what you want/like to do with cards. I built a Weapon Master Warrior deck, I don't give a shit if I lose... which I do... a lot.
The point of expensive decks is to reward players who have spent a lot of time or money playing the game by giving them more decks to choose from. Decks that are expensive shouldn't inherently perform better than cheaper decks because that would change the game to be pay-to-win which is bad game design.
Yeah but when you see that you win anyway or at least you reach easily rank 5 (i would never try legend with a heavy control deck) why you should keep playng with a dumb zoo or midrange hunter too . I prefear having a crazy game in fatigue with priest or even playng a tempo deck is way funnier than a zoo or shaman..
I was like you when i started playng hs , im a free to play player and i played soooo many games wondering about how funny could be play a gandlock or a control warrior .. i have golden hunter just playng the same aggro/midrange list ...
Now that i can play mostly every deck, that i know very good the game i prefear 'expensive ' decks just for the fun and crazy momenst that give me .. the only thing that is better in cheap aggo decks is if you want reach legend.. if you use an expensive heavy control deck it ll take soooo much time .
Trust me if you keep playng the game and you ll try an expensive control deck you ll start to hate playng aggros
See I started playing as a priest as control and tried a cthun deck, hated it. tried a n'zoth deck hated it, tried mixing both c'thun and n'zoth together hated it. then i made an otk priest deck, loved it but never won. so i DE'd all the cards and now I have like no cards lol so I was like screw it I never played paladin. I got to rank 13 in 20 wins vs grnding for hours with those controls and coudl never beat rank 15. but i feel like aggro can only get so far cause no im starting to see control decks and they beat me sometimes. but the decks i cant stand is zoolock. its so dumb.

You just need to improve your game , your skills , why with the same nzoth list i reach rank 5 without problems and you cant go trough 15 ? Even rank 13 is not a good one (i mean if you play 8 games in a month its not that bad ) .
So try improve your skills and stop whining about how control decks are bad..its just you.. i dont wanna offend you or nothing i just wanna give you an advice just becouse you look like the average hearthstone player that has most of the cards , have the time to play but he cant go further rank 9-10 couse he thinks that shaman is op but he dont like playng it

Guess what, you make expensive decks for the same reason you make cheap decks. To win games.
If you assumed that throwing every legendary into a deck would win you games you have no clue how the game works.
Certain decks perform better in certain matchups and are better in a certain meta and a million more things determine what wins and loses. You're getting hung up on something that doesn't matter.
Control decks tend to cost more, because of how they are played. It has nothing to do with how good they are on the tiers.
Playing the worst class in the game won't win you a ton of games no matter how much dust you throw at it.
Random note, I think the most fun deck in the game is probably the most expensive, Astral Druid. It also is horribly inconsistent.
You seem to want a pay to win game, for god knows what reason. You shouldn't be able to just throw money at something to be better at it than others.

Well, some players are just as dumb as zoolock decks.
The fact that you think zoolock decks are dumb demonstrates your lack of understanding in how tricky piloting a zoolock deck is. It is arguably one of the most complicated decks to run, given the need to trade up efficiently, while still doing face damage and not letting your opponent last into the late game.

I don't know your cousin, but I follow Firebat for some time now and my opinion is that he is one among 4 Hearthstone pro that have a real knowldge of the game. So ok you want to do the big boy here, I understand this but I'm not really interested in your opinion because you're rude and you don't have any reputation in the Hearthstone community.

I heard firebat say that, I was watching his stream at the time. Thing is, he's wrong. He's an aggro player so of course his bias would come into play here. You make more decisions as a control deck. This is coming from a hunter player.

Yeah at the time I thought the same thing "of course you say like this you texan! You are an aggro player, in doubt go face! " But analyzing what he really meant he has a reasonable point. The process to create a solid aggro deck in a pre-existent meta is absolutely not an easy task as people think; then master an aggro deck it's also pretty hard; we are speaking here of the 0.25% of Hearthstone players so we speak about master a deck in this kind of environment. This guys call misplays that the majority of players would call they mental for those.
Then yeah control decks needs on the go thinking and that's the charme of these decks. Once you learnt an aggro deck your plays are mechanisms not thoughts.
Blizzard implements rarities for two reasons. Firstly, they are a company with employees to pay, and secondly, so the longer you play the more varieties of decks are open to you. "Expensive" is somewhat of a misnomer. Many have proven time and time again that you can build any deck you want grinding arena games. I'll be honest, I've spent some money on this game, but these decks aren't so much expensive as they are attainable after a long period of time. I know you mean dust, not money, but it's the same concept. The more dust you accumulate over time, the more cards are available, and cards generally get more interesting and different as they increase in rarity.
As to why people play them, in my opinion it's because many like a very thoughtful game. I'm not here to say Aggro is dumb and mindless, but decisions in Aggro decks are much more shortsighted and immediately impacting than control decisions, in which you have to think about your resources for your position 3-4 turns ahead. If anyone thinks that there is no skill in hearthstone, see tons of people trying and failing to get legend with exactly the same priest decks Zetalot has been top 200 with this season. More expensive control decks have a higher skill cap, because while again I'm not trying to attack Aggro players, you can autopilot wins with good aggressive draws but always lose with bad ones, whereas control decks are right in between those two.
Yes at the moment these expensive legendaries don't see much play. That's not inherent to their high dust value, that's a balance issue of Blizzard overbuffing certain classes. But as the meta shifts, as it does every expansion, these cards have more chances to become relevant. It took literally an entire year for Varian Wrynn, the believed most powerful TGT legendary, to be in a competitive deck. If you spend the dust on these interesting but risky dust investments, you can be the one to innovate with these cool legends and epics.

Do you think that's rude? Firebat doesn't belong to an altar, there are better and much more innovative HS players, and in terms of knowledge of the game, Firebat is pretty low in that compared to other streamers. And being the Justice Warrior of aggro players shows how biased and subjective his opinion is. Aggro decks have always been cheap, effective, low-time consuming, novice friendly and thus, are easy to pilot. Is simple as that.
Getting offended by that, and showing it here doesn't contribute in anything to the discussion. Do you think I'm the big boy? FIne. I don't care how you feel. However, if you are not capable of disagree with others and show respect to their opinions, this is not a site built for you.
