I was wondering which class is the most inspiring for us card makers so I counted the fan cards I made for each class that are in my folders
My fan cards per class :
Cards I made for WCDCs or for my expansion are not taken into account, but tokens were taken into account.
Neutral : 138 cards (24.91%) [Takes into account Gang cards]
Priest : 81 cards (14.62%)
Druid : 72 cards (13.00%)
Paladin : 47 cards (8.48%)
Shaman : 47 cards (8.48%)
Warlock : 46 cards (8.30%)
Rogue : 39 cards (7.04%)
Hunter 33 cards (5.96%)
Warrior : 26 cards (4.69%)
Mage : 25 cards (4.51%)
Here's what the distribution would look like if each class (and neutral) was equally inspiring :
Based on the existing distribution of cards in the game.
Neutral : 38.8 %
Any class : 6.8%
That the "neutral" class is uninspiring is not astonishing since existing neutrals are mostly fillers, and fillers are uninteresting but I seem to be very inspired by Druid and Priest but less interested in Warrior and Mage (although not by a large margin if you look at the actual distribution of class cards in the game).
What about you ? Which classes are the most inspiring to you ?
I'm pretty new to creating custom cards and havn't made much besides 2 custom sets and a custom class i'm working on right now. But if i were to choose a class that seems most appealing for me to make cards for it would be neutral but because that isn't a class i'm leaning towards Mage and Warlock since they're both very interesting classes you can do a lot with closely followed by Rogue because i love the stealing archetype.
I usually create Priest and Rogue cards since I like their playstyle and how completely opposite from each other: heavy control creature based vs Combo-oriented spell based. I don't keep track of the cards I created. I deleted cards from my gallery that I don't like. Class that I don't feel particularly inspired is Hunter since I feel that the class is too one-dimensional in its playstyle and flavor.
I used to keep track of all my WCDC submissions, as well as any cards I made that I thought were good ideas, but I stopped about a year ago because it was too much work. Looking back at that, I have 54 Neutrals, 7 Druid, 5 Hunter, 12 Mage, 5 Paladin, 6 Priest, 14 Rogue, 9 Shaman, 6 Warlock, and 9 Warrior. By percentage, that's 46% Neutral, 6% Druid, 4% Hunter, 10% Mage, 4% Paladin, 5% Priest, 12% Rogue, 8% Shaman, 5% Warlock, and 8% Warrior. So, Neutral is a bit over-represented, and Rogue and Mage definitely are. Personally, I'm kinda surprised that people are making fewer Neutral cards than are in the sets. By default, any card could be neutral, which is why I make so many of them.
