We don't need decks like this in hearthstone. If they really want to push the paladin secrets theme, they should come up with a less retarded way to do it. If patron warrior and miracle rogue were unhealthy for the game to the point where they essentially killed both decks(and don't fucking bring up the new patron, because it's a completely different deck and the new miracle rogue was only made possible over one year after leeroy nerf), what really is there to say about a deck that represents around 50% of the ladder on the higher ranks and is being piloted to legend by bots?
Haven't seen that many secret paladins over the last couple days. Druid and Freeze Mage are working out like a charm. I'm pretty happy with the current meta. No salt required.
Unless you include your rank, your statement is quite meaningless. For example, below rank 10 secret pala is incredibly rare, simply because the deck is so strong.
I'm rank 6 right now and I haven't seen too many secret paladins this season. Of course I'm playing Control Priest lol so figures that I wouldn't run in to any.
So, no, this is not a rant or salt thread about Mysterious Challenger. I just wanna share about my personal idea about balancing this card without completely destroying it like Blizzard tend to do with cards like Warsong Commander.
I think this might help to keep Challenger being a viable (or even still strong) card without (maybe) making it completely broken, as it enables really strong secret interaction (as Blizzard intended to bring Paladin's secrets to be viable) but not punishing the enemy just by playing one card on perfect curve without any planning whatsoever. I also reduce the body from 6/6 to 4/4 to make it easier to deal with.
What do you guys think? Still too broken? (well, double avenge is indeed super powerful, but so does 3/4 Unearthed Raptor that spawns 4/4 Nerubian from deathrattle, right?) or have to be buffed up a little?
Feel free to share your ideas and how would you personally balance Mysterious Challenger!

"Winter is Coming",
- Me before dropping Malygos + 2x Frostbolt + 2x Ice Lance.
The problem here is scenario wise, imagine a pally with alot of secrets in play (comp spirit, avenge etc.) pally plays this card and you cannot "play around" secrets unless it's killed. although you can easily remove it there are scenarios where you can't remove it so you are basically dead, I like the nerf of it's hp and attack tho and nice idea ;)
Thanks mate! Yeah, when there are lots of secrets and Pally drop this card unanswered that will be a huge problem - but now it can be silenced (weak to Druids with those Keeper of Grove and Control Priest with their Entomb and Shrinkmeister + Cabal/SW:P) so there might be more counterplay.. Won't be sure until it's tested tho XD

I shared this previously on the forums : if you have N types of secrets in your deck, draw and place N-2. Elegant, still extremely useful, still gives you a reason to use 5 secrets.

MC should be a 5/5, or a 7/4 minion. 6/6 for its effect is just too much value. 7/4 would make it instantly BGHable, so you don't have to wait a turn for competitive spirit to proc, or for avenge to land on him.
This is a bit like when you ask someone for directions, and they say "oh, I wouldn't start from here."
Right now there are no effective counter plays to secrets (other than flare, which is class specific, and Kezan, which doesn't help nearly enough in the face of 5 secrets), Yes, you can play around the secrets, but that requires that you first pull the Noble Sacrifice, suck up the pain from avenge, and then deal with the redemption.
If the effect was a joust, it would be a tiny bit more balanced and see less play because it would be a gamble against most decks which aren't face. Another possibility is to change the battlecry to deathrattle, then at least it can be silenced, if it keeps the battlecry, it either needs to have a crappy stat line so it can easily be dispatched, or drastically reduce the number of secrets it pulls out. The only other option, is for Blizzard to create some new cards which punish secrets, doesn't have to be destroy or steal, sending them back to the owners hand would be pretty nasty.

If you notice this notice, you will notice, that this notice is not worth noticing....
There's no need for a major nerf. Just make him cost 7 mana with the same stats. That way he competes with the Dr Boom slot and screws up the mana curve of the deck, making it less effective overall.
Just have it summon ONE random secret from your deck
So you're just basically turning it into a 6/6 Mad Scientist?
Honestly people, I don't see what the big gripe is. This card is so easy to play around. I know because I play it in my main rotation and it gets beat plenty. This isn't like patron warrior was with the OTK from full health. Nearly every class has the potential to play around this. If you don't believe, challenge me and I will show you a way to render it useless.
Just because you don't want to tech around it doesn't mean it's imbalanced. It just means you're too lazy to adjust your deck. Even when I am not playing this I would still rather come up against this than the other cancer floating around. All you people that play the EXACT SAME NETDECK of freezemage, face hunter, overload shammy, control warrior, and renolock I'm looking in your direction.
i dont have paladin, i dont like them but i do not like this topic, i mean why u guys trying so much , talking about secret pally, whining , saying pala is overpowered and bla bla bla
stop discussing, blizzard at this moment likes to see pala strong, blizzard dont care if u lose against them, u should just accept it
go build a secret pala like everybody does and enjoy the game
what if they mad him immune to any secret buffs so he cant get avenged or competitive spirit/redemption so say you fireball it on an empty board he just dies
People say Paladin secrets are weak, but that's not the whole story. Individually they are weak, and if you have to spend mana to play them, they are (for the most part) rubbish; but when you get them out for free, with a powerful minion, all at the same time; suddenly they are horrible, and worst of all, there is no effective counter to it, other throwing a minion to the wolves Noble Defender, and then hoping to hell that the Avenge falls on the Mysterious Challenger, and then killing the MC with a piece of hard removal, which you will desperately need for the Good Doctor and Tyrion Fordscum, on the next two turns.
Saying Paladin secrets are crap, is like saying Force of Nature is crap, yes, it is, if you use it on it's own, but combine it with Savage Roar and it's a ton of salt inducing badassery.

What is so bad about killing off the deck again?

Keep the battlecry of the card as is, but any card played while MC is alive costs 3 more manna, that includes spells, minions and weapons.
That means the Paladin can't overwhelm you post MC coming down, or rather it is not that easy to overwhelm you until it dies.
This is a bit like when you ask someone for directions, and they say "oh, I wouldn't start from here."

just make him legendary same stats but 8 mana , we can deal with 5 secrets one time

Make it deathrattle instead of battlecry. It would force people to think and play around things.
Make the body smaller or the cost higher. Right now he just gives insane value.
You are not prepared!

thats all u can do
4/4 put 3 secrets into play I think is reasonable
Or Increase mana cost by 2
what if they mad him immune to any secret buffs so he cant get avenged or competitive spirit/redemption so say you fireball it on an empty board he just dies
