Hi, I'm Ethylbenzene bringing you another class based on A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. As always Fans please enjoy, critics please comment, and any and all suggested feedback is welcome and wanted. Below is the hero, hero power, ten basic cards, six commos, five rares, three epics, and one legendary for set with all explanations, balancing, and flavor in spoilers tags. I appreciate all comments and please let me know which cards are your favorite, which you feel are bland, and which you feel should be re-balanced. Please refrain from any spoilers in the comments. If you haven't seen the previous week's heroes check them out below.
The seventh week's hero is Queen Margaery Tyrell representing the Tyrells of the South. The Tyrell's motto is Growing Strong and represents the fighting style of the Tyrells. The class controls the board with many minions and immense card draw, and many cards get stronger as the game progresses.
Hero and Hero Power
Margaery Tyrell- There are 3 major Tyrell "players" featured in the series, Margaery Tyrell, Lord Mace's youngest daughter and the current queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Loras Tyrell, her youngest brother, Kingsguard, and hot-headed knight, and their grandmother Olenna Redwyne, the Queen of Thorns. Eventually I decided on Margaery as she gets the most screen-time, she's my favorite Tyrell, and she more encompasses the Tyrell spirit than Loras does.
Growing Strong- Before Aegon's Conquest, the Tyrells were Stewards to the Kings Gardener of the South. After the Conquest they became Great Lords of the South. By constantly picking the right side, they grew richer and more powerful over time, and eventually form an alliance with the Lannisters securing victory for the War of Five Kings. Their Hero Power Growing Strong sucks at first, but if it isn't dealt with it becomes stronger and stronger. The Tyrell flowers grow stronger with each passing turn. While starting worse than the Silver Hand Recruits, when you can first attack with them they have 1 more health, and when you next attack with them they're powerful 2/2 minions. After 3 turns they are vanilla 3/2 for 2-mana minions. This is a very powerful hero power that can quickly overwhelm the opponent if they can't deal with the flower. Luckily for the opponent, these flowers have no immediate impact and can be easily dealt with in the early game and mostly ignored in the late game.
Legendary Card
Olenna, the Queen of Thorns- Welp, I had no idea that Gormok the Impaler was going to be a card, but now that it is a card, Olenna is a more expensive Gormok that will always have an effect. Olenna is the mastermind of the Tyrell force, always one step ahead of most others and catching nobles off guard with her mix of dry wit and forward manner. As a card she turns the Tyrell's board control into a direct damage card plus a decent body. Don't underestimate her.
Epic Cards
Trial by Combat- Trial by Combat is a ritual in Westerosi culture where the defendant proves their innocence through single combat, often choosing someone to champion them. The artwork depicts the most famous single combat of recent times, the Mountain that Rides versus the Red Viper. This card in practice removes each player's decks, forcing them to win with only the cards in their hand and the minions on board before the fatigue damage catches up with them. Because the Tyrell player chooses when to enact this trial, it gives them a huge advantage hence the enormous cost.
King Renly Baratheon- A few of you were wondering where Renly was a couple weeks ago. Turns out he sided with his Queen, or more likely Ser Loras, than his brother Stannis to the surprise of no one. King Renly Baratheon was the youngest of King Robert's brothers and attempted to usurp the throne through force during the War of Five Kings from both his older brother Stannis and his illegitimate nephew Joffrey. Renly is the copper to Robert's steel and Stannis's brittle iron, but he fills that role well. He is charismatic, handsome, strong, daring, and a great leader. Yet unlike his brothers, he has never known a time of war and is slain by his brother's shadow. As a card, he is a less permanent Frostwolf Warlord. His attack changes depending on how many minions you have. With 2 other minions, he is a 5/5 for 4 minion, and past that he becomes very powerful and vulnerable to BGH. Yet, he can be easily countered by killing all other minions reducing him to a 1/5.
Randyll Tarly- The awful, abusive father of Samwell Tarly becomes a very powerful card in the Tyrell arsenal. As he should be as the most able Tyrell general. He is able to silence a minion before he charges at them with a 5/4 charge. Despite being that powerful of a charge unit, he is still an utter asshole.
Rare Cards
Plant Seeds- A very powerful Draw mechanic for the Tyrells. Works similarly to the Druid card Soul of the Forest.
King Bread- During the War of Five Kings, the Tyrells closed off the Roseroad to King's landing, causing many of the inhabitants to not care about King Joffrey, King Renly, or King Stannis. They only cared about King Bread. King Bread heals all friendly characters for 3 and draws a card. A good anti-aggression card with a cycle. It's not the best card.
Rose Knight- Randyll isn't the only amazing Charge minion that the Tyrells have at their disposal. With 5 minions on the board, 2 Rose Knights can be summoned for 3 mana, dealing 12 Charge damage for 3 mana. Of course this is the ideal situation, but the Rose Knight will most likely be a cheap Charge minion. If there is one card from this set I think I should nerf, it is the Rose Knight.
Knight of Summer- Probably my favorite card from this set. The Knight of Summer is an unparalleled 6/6 for 4 minion. The only cards that come close to it's 4 mana stats are Hungry Dragon and Twilight Drake, each carrying their own downsides. The Knight of Summer has a tremendous downside, as any damage will change it's attack to 1. It can be pinged by a Mage and rendered useless. It's also a very good combination with King Bread or Randyll Tarly, as healing or silencing it returns it to its previous splendor.
Oldtown Maester- A powerful 4-drop to permanently buff all your minions.
Common Cards
Discourage- One of the Tyrell's "Area of Effect" cards. It is very good versus aggro, but awful in any other context instead of acting as a 3 mana 2 card Sap with Pacify.
Ascension- A very powerful card with a lot of minions on the board. Unlike Druid's powerful Innvervate, this card is difficult to ramp with outside of a token deck. But it is significantly better for mana-intensive combos and bursts later in the game.
Rooted Vengence- The expensive AoE for the Tyrell player. Self explanatory as a Consecration with a lot of healing.
Quickening- This card made more sense with the previous incarnation of the Tyrell hero power, but still remains a powerful card. It changes all the Flower minions, so the Hero Power tokens, into Tyrell Gardens. Tyrell Gardens, as shown in the Token section, are 1/3 minions that give all minions +1/+1. If you have a lot of tokens, this card becomes amazing. If you don't this card is subpar.
Arbor Sailor- Self explanatory 2-drop.
Ser Arryk- a 3/2 and a 2/3 for 4-mana is a 5/5 for 4-mana. It is slightly ahead of curve, but not overpowered. This card is very good for a token deck however. I apologize for the image clarity.
Basic Cards
Strength of Arms- The Tyrell hard removal. Like most Tyrell cards, it is very good if you have semi-board control and pretty bad if you're behind.
Floral Gift- Hey a Tyrell spell that doubles as a buff and a punishment. It must be a flower.
Thorny Strike- A Tyrell AoE that is very good against Royal minions.
Pacify- Pacify is a 0-mana worse version of Humility. Reducing an opponent's attack by 4 often will negate its attack and allow your minions to pummel it with no backlash. Of course it disappears after a turn.
Mock- Mock is a pseudo Thoughtsteal, but instead of drawing 2 cards you draw 1 card from your opponents deck and your opponent discards 1 card. Kind of. Mock shines in decks that revolve around the Tyrell epic Trial by Combat.
Rainbow Guard- If you have 3-4 minions this will summon 3 Goldshire Footmen. If you have 2 or 5 minions it will summons 2 Goldshire Footmen. So if you have 2-5 minions on the board it is an amazing card. The Rainbow Guard were King Renly's version of the Kingsguard seen by many as a mockery.
Spring Squire- Spring Squire is the token 1-drop of the Tyrells. Leave it alone and it will draw many cards for the Tyrells. To offset this, its stats are very weak.
Ser Loras Tyrell- Ser Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers, is Margaery's youngest brother and a member of King Tommen's Kingsguard. Loras Tyrell is like a Micro Machine that's grown up, done a bunch of drugs, and decided to try out a Divine Shield. Loras Tyrell is a 4/4 Divine SHield for 5 that gets stronger every turn. It is an incredibly powerful 5-drop that encompasses the feeling of the Tyrell deck.
Lord Mace Tyrell- Mace is the oaf of the Tyrell clan and the Great Lord of the South. He appears as a 6-drop that gives all Flower minons +1/+1. This powerful buff doesn't seem like much, but like all cards in the Tyrell arsenal it adds up pretty quickly.
Butterbumps- Butterbumps is the Tyrell court jester and is similar to a pre-nerf Tinkmaster Overspark.

And that is the seventh hero Margaery Tyrell. Enjoy and all comments are welcome!
First off, as an ASoIaF fan, I find these concepts awesome. Just wanted to say thanks for the intriguing reading material.
And then a question--since a Tyrell player could conceivably have a 2nd "Trial by Combat" in hand when playing one to discard the rest of their deck, what would it do if played again?

Hey thanks so much for the support, aSoIaF is the best! If you haven't checked out the other classes they're in my sig.
And good question. In theory if you have already played Trial by Combat, and neither you nor your opponent has any cards in their decks, then Trial by Combat will do nothing, as neither player has any cards. In my opinion this is okay, as a player shouldn't be rewarded for running two copies of a very high mana spell in a deck.
