Blizzard has a habit of changing old cards prior to the release of major content. It would not surprise me to see Magma Rager receive a small buff at TGT's release.
I'm definitely neutral about the card as it stands, but I agree with what everyone is saying about power creep. If it's as blatant as this, I don't see the reason they couldn't have just buffed Magma Rager.
Being blatant is the point. It's a joke, capitalising on the infamy of magma rager. If they buffed magma rager many would be annoyed, it's part of HS culture just as much as dr boom being OP, wisp having infinite value, and epic sax guy. It's not as if it takes a card slot away from the expansion, this is digital so they just release x+1 cards instead of x.
I suppose, and I think this was the sole reason it played out like this. But man, on the other side of the game it looks very disappointing.
Everyone spouts out the word power creep like it's the most terrible horrible thing in the world. Of course, slowly increasing the average power of cards with each new expansion is bad and unsustainable, but power creeping over the WORST card in the game is totally fine to me (if they decide to never buff cards). I mean, they thought a 5/1 was worth 3 mana when it's barely worth 2 mana. So now they realize that a 5/2 is worth around 3 mana and made this card instead. I don't see why everyone is so upset with it.
is not powercreep guys, imagine that you play an ice rager and then the opponent plays a voljin and targets it, as you can see the magma rager is the better card in some situations.
anyways, is not really a powercreep, magma rager comes with the free collection of cards, and nobody plays with it becuase is bad, ice rager is better but is still bad, and you actually have to get it with gold or dust, buffing magma rager is not the solution either, because there are rng cards that can summon 3 cost minions and one of those minions can be magma rager, is something that as a player, yo have to take into account, there is a chance to get a magma rager and a chance to get an ice rager when you recombabulate a 3 drop, is not different than the boombots or some shaman cards.
To be honest, I would like Magma Rager to get buffed to a 6/1 just so that it's not completely outclasses, but then it COULD be too good for shadowflame.... RIP

this. the rarity IS different. and so many other reasons. I approve of them making some of the worst vanilla cards slightly better when it makes sense. on the internet the complainers are louder, but this isn't even surprising or a reason to be outraged if you've played other expandable games before.
I guess one way to look at it is that now you can basically have 4 Magma Ragers in your deck. It's not power creep, it's giving Magma Rager a special ability in a round-about way. :|
Should be legendary to compensate for the +1 hp.
I predict a reverse Hobgoblin in the future. Whenever you play a 1-Health minion give it +2/+2. Current unusable cards may one day have a purpose.

Power Creep Confirmed.

Obvious BlizzTroll is obvious.
down the rabbit hole.
heh Magma Rager found a cool new bud
So, basically, they are trying to allow 4 magma ragers in one deck.
Um, yea, card wars.
I really hope Magma Rager gets a buff...
Like, 5-1 2 mana shaman only...
Yeah, not likely.
Perhaps they'll make Magma Rager 6/0 then..? I mean; They might as well, for absolutely all purposes what so ever.

It has nothing to do about the powercreep, its about how Blizzard is biased toward Ice over Fire. Absolutely unacceptable

i hear there will be an air rager, a earth rager and a nerd rager, together they are the power rager......
they defend evil under the moonlight, pretty elementals by daylight......
In 10 years we will see the Fan Rager 3 mana 10;10 common that will rule them all! Also, Rager decks meta.
