Wait, they'll rework the actual cards rather than just make new ones and keep the old ones in Wild? Regardless, losing Alex and Maly in standard will def suck...

That appears to be the case, yes. The old versions of the Dragons will be usuable in Wild (and in Classic) and these new versions will be added to the Core set and usuable wherever the Core set is (Standard and Wild).

I like the new versions better. The older ones were too costly and too situational. Sure if you can find a way to cheat out Malgyos, it was nice, but this will be useful in way more decks as it replenishes your hand with spells and is a fantastic topdeck card.
This version of Deathwing is MUCH BETTER as you don’t have to lose your ENTIRE HAND.
And with Ysera, you were lucky to have it on the board for two turns at the most. There’s hardly ever a scenario where you maximize its potential. With the new version you are guaranteed to get every single generated card to your hand immediately. This is invaluable. This also means you can create an endless loop by returning it back to your hand and playing it again next turn....
The only one I might miss is Malygos all the other ones are garbage. I'm really hoping they give new Nozdormu a sick effect so we can finally stop the multiple exploits old Nozdormu has caused.
Probably not relevant to this discussion, but has it ever been mentioned if the new/revamped versions of cards in the core set will be permanently obtainable for the collection so that if they do rotate out next year we can still play with them in wild?

They will rotate out next year but still will be playable in Wild.

We dont get to keep new core set cards. After rotation they dissapear. Just like limited arena cards. Or what part of set those cards gonna be????
They're not going away. The original cards are moving to the Legacy set which is usable in Wild formats, and of course the new Classic format. These are brand new cards.
New Y'sara might be too slow at 9, but IF you can cheat out that battlecry for less you've got the potential for so much removal and face damage in 1 turn...

I think it was answered by Celestalon on Twitter, that they don't really know yet, and it's too early to tell, since it's more than a year down the line when that scenario might occur.
Though I would be surprised if the new cards just disappear when Core changes again. My personal guess is that they'll become available for crafting when the time comes. Especially if people really like the new cards and they are played a lot. But for the time being, either is possible.

There are only 29 cards that are new, the rest are from existing sets. New cards probably won't disappear but even Blizzard doesn't know what to do with them next year.

The Dream card is being reworked so that you can't go infinite with the new Y'sera. It can now only target enemy minions.
The new ones are rubbing off on me. I admit, I was a bit concerned bc i thought the originals were going away. I've been educated that they are not, and since I play a lot of wild, this eulogy may not be needed after all.
- I must admit, the new dragon art is kind of silly D:

My apologies, but where are all these news from?

I wonder what they'll do with new Nozdormu

They were fun but we need a different flavor and I'm excited for this. Completely pulling apart archetypes so new ones can come in.
