Judging on the pass few games played with him, it really isn't all that good. you go through the trouble of keeping him in your hand once he gets decent attack you play him. BAM, destroyed as soon as played or completely useless by silence.
i imagine they wanted a card that would punish people for killing all the pallys minions and had charge in mind (horse) to make it work but they removed it because it honestly would be broken.
being a class legendary and having a below par effect for such a title there should be a buff
i know asking for charge would be crazy
so i propose a bigger body? say 3 or 4 attack and 8 health for the base body. i don't see him getting much play time otherwise
Bolvar will gain attack fairly easily in a Controldeck. Most of the time he's a good 5 drop and sometimes he's a great 5 drop. If the opponent silences it... yeah whatever, you never planned on winning with this card alone. One less silence for your Sylvanas, Tirion etc. He is good against both Control and Aggro decks because of his 7 health. Even a 3/7 for 5 is quite good against aggro. Now compare that to Juggernaut which has poor stats for a 6 drop and has a battlecry that is the majority of time completely useless. I would in all seriousness play Bolderfist Ogre over it. A free random Pyroblast to the dome is not needed as a Warrior. Card is the most overhyped of the set and is actually quite weak.
Bolvar ist just a good card, nothing amazing but he's a decent card.
He's ok. He could benefit from a slight buff somehow, by no means is he bad just a tad underwhelming. Maybe putting him at 4 mana so he wont compete with other 5 drops, or buffing his base attack by a point or two.
He has been a bit underwhelming but I think people are just expecting too much out of him. Clearly he can be a win condition if you get lucky but if you think of him as a bait card, he is perfect. I've had him silenced quite a few times and simply played Tirion right after. Or Ive had Warriors use their 2nd execute against him. Its always a bummer to see him go but it always makes something else easier as well.
IMO he is first and foremost removal bait and a win condition is his secondary use.
God damnit, just drew my second Bolvar. How likely do you think Blizz will change this card? How long will it take in your estimate? Should I hold on to it or just dust it?
0% chance their going to change it. There's nothing really wrong with it. Sure, it isn't a top teir card, but it sure as hell isn't bad. You already have Tirion who is pretty good, so like most other classes your second class legendary is average.
Quit the complaining, this forum topic has only been hashed and rehashed a hundred times already.

Loved watched Trump vs Amaz on Twitch last night with Amaz saving his Owl especially for when Trump brought Bolvar out. Anyone playing against a Paladin will save a silence for this card.
I don't believe so because it shows the buff on the card both in hand and as it is played. Once a single minion dies it never shows a 1 in that spot again. (Bar silence, return to hand, etc etc)
But I don't have a hobgoblin yet and haven't seen it attempted so I honestly dont know for sure. It definitely could work that way, I'm just not anticipating it to do so.
the thing about bolvar is that they wont always have a way to answer it and you just win the game. you can argue that oh alakir, tirion, and sylvanas are all bad because you can silence most of their effect away but their amongst the top legendaries in the game. i think its an auto include as a big threat in paladin control decks and it can also be seen in midrange variants.
So I just started playing GvG today (finally, thanks EU) and I gotta say, Bolvar is fantastic! My current deck is doing very well on it's own, but sometimes I'm still in a bad position, where I could easily lose. That happend twice today, both times against another paladin (we seem pretty strong right now!) and bolvar is the card that won me both of them. You just have to read the opponents hand and drop him at the right time. If he has no answer he's probably dead if you held Bolvar for long enough.
For me he just feels like an alternate win condition if quartermaster + muster + whatever else doesn't work. I can only recommend him honestly.
This is what im using. Im testing the yetis and ooze/harrison. The meta is still very agressive, so i dont mind losing a card against hunters/warriors. 1 Quartermaster vs 2? Pbbly 2 is better.
Thanks for posting. I bet that golden shield-bot looks SWEET! :-)
I'm short Rags and Bolvar and only have enough dust to craft one, which would you rec'd to craft first? (my noob instincts say Rags so I can play him in every other deck too :-)

still Tirion is the best class legendary and one of the best overall, It's fair for Bolvar to be underwhelming
You need to consider him just as Loatheb for example. Wheelhorse, cheap(5 mana for legendary is cheap more or less) auxiliary tool.
I bring life and pffffffffffffff!
Bolvar is much better than the shitty Legendary warrior got.

Arena > all
Bolvar gets silenced. You could always drop a blessing of might or kings on him and he's good again. How much silence can they have really.
Troll is obviously troll.
There is no rl, just afk.
I think the problem is it's a legendary and people expect a lot more. Overall it's a fine card, but perhaps not as a legendary.

Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken.
Watched Trump drop Bolvar with 16 attack. Does it really need a change?
There are 3 kinds of people in the world. Those that can count and those that can't.
Thanks for the advice, I went ahead and dusted it but it still hurts.

on a side note his entrance is amazing Kreygasm

Can you paly players who are finding Bolvar fantastic post your deck-lists?
Thanks!
(I've been holding onto my 1600 dust, still trying to decide if I should craft Bolvar)
