1, Animal companion is a very strong 3 mana card that is already considered top tier and is run as a 2 of in pretty much every hunter deck ever. The stats and abilities each of the beasts have are more than 3 mana value.
2, If you put the stats and abilities of 2 cards into 1 card, that card will be worth more than double the value than the first two, because a card has it's own value. (Since you can only put 30 in your deck).
So CotW is a card that does exactly what THREE other cards can do! Because of this it should cost MORE than 3x as much, since it saves you cards to get the same effect. But not only does it not cost more than 3x, it actually costs 1 less...
On turn 8 you couldn't even play 3 AC-s, -and even if you did, the random outcomes may screw you- but you can already play CotW and get more guaratied value outcome for 1 less mana.
Card is only overpowered if you have Tundra Rhino in play prior to playing CotW. There is no balance issue with this card although they'll probably nerf to 9 or something on the next nerf set due to complaints from players which would really suck. Maybe try playing midrange hunter and find out how fun the card is
First let me say I'm not super opposed to the card but I do think it is an overpowered card and I do expect it to be nerfed. I'm not sure how people are arguing that it isn't an overpowered card, from a mana standpoint it is one of the worst designed cards in the game for several reasons. Szkeptik is right and I'll give some examples using other class cards because they are usually better than neutral cards.
1. Each one of the animal companions is worth more than 3 mana but the card costs 3 mana because of the randomness, CoTW removes this randomness and gives you extreme value. Huffer is a 3 mana 4/2 with charge, compare this to Kor'kron Elite which is a 4 man 4/3 with charge and Huffer should be roughly 3.5 mana. Misha is a 3 mana 4/4 with taunt, compare this with Fierce Monkey which is a 3 mana 3/4 with taunt and Misha should also be roughly 3.5 mana. Leokk is a 3 mana 2/4 that gives all your minions +! attack, compare this to Warhorse Trainer which is a 3 mana 2/4 that only gives your silver hand recruits +1 attack and Leokk is worth maybe 3.25 mana.
2. The beast tag has been fairly valued by Blizzard because of many beast synergy cards especially in hunter and druid so let's say the beast tag adds .25 mana cost. Bloodfen Raptor will always be better than a vanilla 3/2 with no tag soley because it is a beast.
3. When the effect of 2 or more cards is put into 1 card that card usually costs more to compensate for the fact you can now put more cards in your deck. Arcane Intellect is 3 mana draw 2 cards but Sprint which is literally just 2 arcane intellects is 7 mana instead of 6 to compensate for the fact that you combined 2 cards into one. CoTW combines 3 cards into 1 so it should cost around 1.5 mana more than 3 animal companions if we go by the .5 mana extra for each card added in.
4. Call of the wild is an auto include in virtually every hunter deck and would be an auto include in pretty much every deck if it was a neutral card much in the same way Dr. Boom was in aggro decks, tempo decks and control decks. Unless you are running a gimmicky hunter deck CoTW will make your deck better which can't be said for 99% of the cards.
So in 1 card you are getting a maximum of roughly 13 mana worth of stuff on turn 8 and again on turn 9 which is crazy. From the moment it was announced the entire community said ti would be good and it's as good as everyone thought. This almost never happens with cards like Dr. Boom being called great to meh before it came out. I don't know how they would nerf it aside from making it 10 mana. Ideally I think they should keep it as is and make it a legendary so you are much less likely to see it on turn 8 and it'll never come up twice but blizzard won't do that because of how they give full dust refunds on nerfed cards and making it a legendary would be insane on the dusting meaning way less profits.
lmao are you kidding dude? Do you know what the word "fun" means? "Fun" is blood warriors, "fun" is mill rogue, the word you were thinking of is "broken". The only reason you think it's fun is because it's been winning over half your games for you
this is dumb, can you people not see how broken shaman is right now, im a mage player myself but the fact that people are complaining about a class that doesnt even have a tier 1 deck in this meta is dumb when spirit claws mid shaman is running around with a 65% win rate against most classes. CoTW is supposed to be strong card and there are many more cards that need nerfs than it.

Technically that's incorrect. Fun is subjective, meaning that while you find that fun, that doesn't mean that it's fun for anyone else. You're basically saying that they're wrong for having their own opinion of fun that differs from yours, and acting as though your definition is inherently better than theirs. Some people enjoy winning, some people enjoy playing random decks, some people enjoy throwing down legendaries. Until you accept that your definition isn't the only correct one, then your comments won't have any relevance to the topic at hand.

Nope, everyone knows what "fun" is talking about within the community. Nobody was calling Mysterious Challenger a "fun" card, when people ask "is this a fun deck or is it competitive" we all know what it means. Whether he has fun with it or not is irrelevant when we're asking whether the card itself is inherently fun. If one person enjoying something is enough to qualify it as fun then the word no longer means anything

Again, if one person finds it fun, then that's fun to them. It's subjective, not objective. You keep heavily implying that if people find overpowered cards fun, then they're wrong. And not everyone has the same idea of fun. If everyone did why don't you think everyone played the same exact deck? Your definition of fun isn't inherently more correct than anyone else's.

"Fun" regarding a Card or a deck has a pretty clear meaning on hearthpwn as far s my experience goes. It has nothing to do with actually having fun, but is aimed on the competetiveness of a card/deck. Like baby powder is not powder made of babies.
If someone refers to a "fun card" or a "fun deck", that means a card with a non-competetive effect or a non-comptetetive deck (like Noxius Randuin-priest deck with all the rng Cards; or the infinite fireball deck with Sorcerer's Apprentice , Duplicate , Echo of Medivh , Archmage Antonidas, Emperor Thaurissan plus any spell).
Noone will referr to aggro shaman as a "fun deck" because you play it to win a game, not for the great effects of the Cards or a great Combo. It's a highly efficient deck that can be fun to play (in particular because winning is fun), but it would never be called a "fun deck".
You know, there is a chance there's someone who actually does find that deck fun. Why that's apparently impossible to you, I don't know, but it is very much possible. Like I said multiple times, fun is subjective, meaning what one person finds fun, someone else might not. It's 100% opinion based, you should all stop acting like you're better for having a specific opinion.

I don't know what is the difficulty in understanding what I wrote. "Fun deck" is a term filled with a certain meaning in this community. That's what I explained to you (what you obviously didn't get). It does not matter whether I or anyboy has fun playing aggro shaman (actually I can have fun with all Kind of aggro decks if I hadn't more fun with my wild midrange Pala). It's not called a "fun deck".

I'm just saying that using the term fun so definitively In a term makes no sense. Like I said, fun is subjective. You can't pin fun onto something and have it be correct.

IMO it's easy to show why CotW is too strong.

Nerf to turn 9.
Give it up, it is much more balanced than Boom or MC and they were never touched.

I was just thinking the same thing
“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity” ― Sun Tzu
My current disaster-piece
should be nerfed to 9 or 10 mana imo
call of the wild must remain same, hunters needs it, its great card
*Priest continuously resurrecting minions*
Paladin : "By the holy f***"
What cards can compete with the pressure of Call of the Wild? Two in a row is very difficult to deal with.
Paladins have Anyfin Can Happen, but it's 10 mana. Call of the Wild should be 9 mana for what it does.
The tears and salt are real today.
