I think this card certainly has potential in both control decks and midrange-totem decks. If you can play this card on turn 4, it's really good since its competition Piloted Shredder is gone in Standard. And since your Hero Power itself reduces its Mana Cost, not drawing it on curve can still be good if you can drop it later dirt cheap (around 2 mana or less) with some other tempo swings (like board wiping or playing a big minion).
I see this card being used in midrange deck and Handlock is a completly different approach... anyway I love midrange shaman. I have 2x Totem Golem and 2x Tuskarr Totemic in my deck, both are great dropped on curve, Totem Golem turn 2, hero power turn 3 it's not the "my ideal scenario" it's just a common play, you're not sacrificing tempo, sometimes you have something else to do, sometimes you don't and you just use hero power. I'm definitely not saying it's good to use your hero power twice just to drop 5/5 taunt earlier, I'm saying this guy fit in this deck for sure... Let's say you dropp Knife Juggler on turn 2 Tuskarr Totemic on turn 3, 2x Totem Golem on turn 4, now you only have 3 mana on turn 5? not a problem, just drop your 5/5 taunt.

Of course. This card is amazing. That goes without saying. I was just saying that it didn't make sense to include hero powering as part of your "dream scenario."

That's for sure!! I mention hero power 'cause sometimes is the only thing you can do overloaded by Totem Golem BTW... I just realized how to use quote for reply comments. n00b here =X
Idea seems nice, but card overall is bad. It doesn't matter how cheap it becomes in late game, its just pile of raw stats. Cheap 5/5<<<more expensive 5/5 that has some impact on board, simple as that.
Where standard is heading when you are looking for other 5 drops there isn't gonna be much to choose from. Azure drake maybe but I'm gonna say that azure is getting nerves in some way of stats dropped or cost up 1. So in a world with no sludge Belcher this could see play.
Nice shamam card, really like that they decide to push totem shaman instead of the aggro version.
Yeahhhh, well I have been wrong before.......
You likely made that assumption because Aggro shaman is in fact a Midrange deck with aggro tools. Look at most shaman aggro, they dish out any valuable trade before considering to go face (especially with totem and trogg). The fact it looks aggro is just because of hammer 16 damage face. No pure aggro would ever play a 7/7 that cost effectively 6 (as you want to play curved) without immediate effect.
And Thing from Below is a midrange tool which have the same issue : it's so easy to use it a 0 mana it's just a 5/5 face and protect others minions.
True it has a lot of midrange characteristics. In general I still feel like it is more of an aggressive than defensive deck. When I first wrote the comment I thought that Shaman would be more of a late midgame to control deck.

Tuskar loves this

Wow , good cards for Shaman :)
You dont need totem shaman for this card, totem golem or even a tuskar totemic. and random hero power make it a 5/5 taunt for 4.
OpieOP. Especially in arena this is going to create for some big swing turns.
Sooner or later it will become 0 Mana 5\5 Taunt that is OP and great stats in any part of the game
Now the shaman is having some plain but solid card on the board, but they still need more solid 3-4 drops for mid-range/ board control
Nice shamam card, really like that they decide to push totem shaman instead of the aggro version.
