It's my very first legendary and I don't know if it's useful in my deck at all (probably isn't). I only have 340 dust though, so should I DE it? Btw, I don't spend money on this game.
Generally avoid DEing Legendaries unless you absolutely have to. You never know when Onyxia might come into great effect in the far future and would regret having to stack up 1600 dust to craft her again.
I'd keep Onyxia - it's not a bad card, it's just not quite as strong as some of the other Legendaries.
Druid, Shaman, and Warrior are probably the best homes for it. Druid & Shaman can both take advantage of tokens, and Warriors can take advantage of minions with 3 or less attack.
I also find that it works well in decks with Sea Giants.
When I first started playing I disenchanted a lot of stuff and I regret doing so. I would hang onto it as some legendary cards were seemingly bad/good and turned out to be the good/bad. Anything could change especially with naxx coming up.
I've got it twice from packs, and DE'd both times. I don't like it at all. It's not as useful as people imagine, with Druid, Shaman, Savage roar or bloodlust ... because it takes up a whole turn, those imps will be gone usually by next, [any AOE deals with them] and probably the dragon along with [BGH] . Unless you have innervate + savage roar in hand at the time - which will be rare. It's not near as effective as other Legends, like Rag, Ysera, Alexazstra or even Malygos.
There's nothing to it, DE'ing legends - I've dusted many along the way. I've never regretted it, because if I want them back, it's not all that hard to craft them, just off all the epics/rares especially golden doubles, you never use and build dust from arena play. I suppose for those who don't play arena it's a tougher decision?

I don't like the aspect of disenchanting a legendary only to disenchant a bunch of other cards to get it back. When you are just starting out it may be tempting to de everything you don't use. When I first started out I eventually disenchanted cards I never used, but actually ended up needing some of them. So if I wanted to craft those cards I would need to disenchant other cards that I would've possibly used in the future because I didn't have much dust.
I would not disenchant cards because it has cost me a lot of dust and it only helped me a little bit in the short run.
I am never a fan of DEing, especially a legendary. You never know when a card can be optimal as the metagame changes. With Naxx there will a lot of emphasis on deathrattles, which might synergise well with Onyxia's whelps. I wouldn't do it, but that's just me.
Since it was my first legendary from a pack and I tried some ideas for her I'd say her best combos are with Knife Juggler and Stormwind Champion. The thing is , which makes her meta-unviable, that see needs a card a turn before her (stormwind) or a turn after (savage roar), since her impact on an empty board is inexistent. Anyway IMO dont de: I also only have her and cenarius (and murk-eye) and still wont de legendaries.

Not devoted enough to spend money/lots of time , but still like being somewhat competitive
Peaked at rank 3 couple seasons ago, usually around ranks 10-5 at the end of seasons (unless it's been a busy month irl)
I'll post my problem here so I don't need to do another thread. I just bought some packs, got Hogger and Illidan Stormrage as legendaries and some golden rares etc. I DE'd both, now i have a total of 3200dust, and cant really decide which 2 legendaries to craft.
I play these decks mostly: Handlock, Control Paladin & Warrior, Amaz Priest, Tempo & Miracle Rogue.
With the decks you've mentioned, I'd say Alexstrasza and The Black Knight would be my best options. Handlock is a slow deck, so you'll need the HP reset. The Black Knight would be invaluable in a mirror match-up against the molten giant taunts, and is generally good in control decks.

If you dont have Cairne and Sylvanas, I would craft one of those two along with Alex. You would use all three in warrior control and paaldin control, and Amaz priest would run sylvanas with ragnaros.
I agree with Simba. Onyxia is not the best of the 8/8 legendaries by any stretch of the imagination. However, it does have some advantages:
Neither Mirror Image nor Faceless Manipulator will duplicate the full effect of the card.
It will almost always require 2+ cards to remove.
While Onyxia "combos" are too unreliable to build a strategy around, the fact that they exist means that you will sometimes get additional leverage out of the card.

I wouldn't because I actually like the card and DE'ing won't give you enough to craft another one right now anyway.
It's a fun card to play in some decks. It's no Leeroy or Rag tho.

Die, mage!

Disenchanting legendaries is just short-sighted, most of the times you gain next to nothing by doing it.

Meta will be changing a lot very soon so it would be unwise to disenchant cards that are that expensive.

I'd probably go for Alex and Thalnos or Alex and Black Knight.
onyxia isn't a competitive card in any deck and probably won't be for a long while. just DE it
