After 1 year playing only in Wild mode (legend every season with Demon Mech Cthun Renolock), I've just realized that the current meta is the best ever (from 2016).
I want to teach my wife to play Hearthstone, so we have to come back to Standard and climb from 20 to 6 with some decks like Token Druid, Face Hunter, Highlander Dragon Warlock ... And I can confirmed that this meta is so balanced, and even more fun than Wild mode.
I used to hate aggro decks, because I thought they are mindless, but now I could respect them for their calculations in every turns. They keep important positions in the meta. Mid range decks are very interesting with the different ways they deal the tempo. And the lacking of mass healing cards prevents control decks not too cancerous. The design team did a great work (at least for me)
This is a great sign for the future of Hearthstone, and we are waiting for the next year with new things.
Standard is pretty good right now. We live in a cycling meta, with the top deck being contested by other two, which in turn get countered by other two and so on.
For being at the biggest possible standard card pool, the difference in power between standard and wild has never been bigger. Standard does seem healthier right now, as Wild decks all abuse absolutely broken combos and synergies to have a chance.
That being said, I am not sure if it is the best ever in terms of diversity, and some 0-cost combos are really annoying even in Standard.

Im playing mostly wild. Since i reached legend one year ago i only go to rank 5 every month...so cant tell how it looks further. But imo its pretty well balanced. I meet almost all classes regularly besides maybe druid & rogues.
Druids - Aggro, Embiggen, Jade
Mage- Time Warp, Secret
Priest - Ressurrect, Quest
Warrior - Bomb/Gala, Pirate
Warlock - Egg, Mechathun, Demon
Shaman - Even, Quest
Rogue - not really..sometimes mill
Hunter - Mech
Paladin - Mech
The most annoying deck to play against is secret mage. Also Mech Pala can be pretty unfair. Since you mentioned broken combso...the time warp combo with Archmage Vargoth is retarded :(
Im playing a HL Mage and its a lot of fun. Atm at rank 4.
Standard often feeld unfair for me, when i lose to a certain situation and i know there is a tech card against it but not available in standard.
Anyway...im glad i see posts about a "healthy" meta. :)
Thanks for this post, there's tons of negativity around for what is a very balanced meta. It's just a shame that shaman is suffering so badly right now.
I like the meta too. Only Res Priest is the most annoying and not interacting deck of the meta. I understand people want to win, but it is so boring to play.

Welcome back to standard, amigo!

Something that's been said for the last 4 years, and yet, here we are.
