So i had a chat with a few players on BMK's Chat and I said that the meta would be alot different with STB (Small time Buccaneer) being nerfed because the card is alot worst now then it is because of it having only 1 health. They argued with me and Said it would change that much because pirates would still be a good deck to play in rogue and Warrior. The argument people have had is patches the problem? I dont think so. The Nerf to STB will be something that makes it so pirates are less go-to. if you dont believe me then why would you play a 1 Drop that Dies to a ping? I think people will realize STB sucks to the point where they have to play a different kind of deck all together.
So what will be the new go to decks? So with the meta changing the way it is, i think decks that were being kicked out of the meta by pirates may see a rise; Decks like handbuff pally, midranged Hunter and may things like that.
This nerf won't do nearly as much as some people think it will. What's the aggravating factor of Pirate Warrior? The excessive damage they can deal within the first three turns. What does this nerf change? The health of the buccaneer, not the damage. It will still deal 3-3-3 etc. for 1 mana. Everything other card was left unchanged, so the deck will stay pretty much the same strenght, simple as that.
This nerf is definitely too soft and shallow to severely impact Pirate Warrior's consistency in dealing huge amounts of damage within the first 4 turns. You'll still need to spend your turn 2 pinging to remove it (huge tempo loss) and that's assuming you can ping in the first place (only mage). I've lost count of how many games I had where I removed Buccaneer asap and still died by turn 5 with 0 health.
STB already gets hit with removal before it ever gets the chance to attacks in a lot of games. The extra point of health will make it easier to remove, but it's still a card your opponent can't afford to ignore, If nothing else it forces your opponent to waste the turn getting rid of it instead of developing their own board.
Decrease in people playing pirate decks, increase in people playing jade decks. Then it comes to Reno+Kazakus vs Jade golems. Goons are watching from the corner
While it doesn't change much tbh, aggro is still going to be a headache til the ACTUAL rotation with the expansion. But IF by chance the nerfs hamper aggro shaman, pirate warrior, and give rise to the Jade gang, GOOD. I'm tired of STB > Patches -proceed to go bonkers aggro-. I'd like to get back into my Jade deck and see paladin/hunter come back into the mix (if they're lucky), but my god it's impossible to climb unless you're playing smorc or trying to counter the smorc. Also , good bye to conceal can't come soon enough eithe
I think jade druid will actually be pretty good if aggro decks are no longer at the top. Jade druid beats Reno and can beat jade shaman if you out tempo him

Jade shaman beats jade druid most of the time, Reno decks only lose some matchs because spend too many slots in defensive cards trying to counter aggro decks killing you in turn 5, if aggro reduced (I really don't think this will happen) by the nerfs in a way jade druid become playable the list of Reno decks will change to play more agressive and can beat jade druid with more than 50% winrate, Miracle rogue have more than 70% winrate vs Jade Druid.
Jade druid only win vs very slow control decks, like CW or Paladin murlocks, you don't see many of them.
Classes (Mage, Druid, Rogue) that could ping 1 damage will benefit from the nerf, and their respective decks (RenoMage, JadeDruid, MiracleRogue) will improve.
Other already-good classes (Priest, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior) will mostly stay where they're currently at.
It'd be interesting to see if Hunter and Paladin will be able to rise with new decks (neither Aggro/Murloc Paladin nor Face/Secret Hunter pls)
Honestly, Blizzard could have done better on both of those nerfs. Small-Time Buccaneer is way too easy to kill with spells or hero powers and Spirit Claws is too slow to hold up its own value as a card. Not only that, but Pirate Warrior was the only thing keeping us from going straight back into Curvestone. Now the counterplay triangle will be broken (hopefully until Un'Goro is fully released), and all anyone's gonna see are Jade decks swarming the place.

I have to commend you on being one of the few people who didn't like that these were getting changed... though I will say right now I think Curvestone is probably (mostly) avoidable still, it's not like Aggro isn't still going to be good. I'm curious to see how it pans out, I know StrifeCro (who is generally a smart guy about predictions) has pretty much determined both cards will be dead and we're back into a Midrange meta.
Honestly if it's a Midrange Meta like Secret Paladin? I'm pretty okay with that. If it's ONiK Midrange Meta I'll be a bit sad, but at least it's for a little over a month and it'll still be a change of pace from an Aggro meta.

Yeah but cards like Maelstrom Portalare still very present in the meta. Maybe your deck will not counter pirate warrior but many shaman will and I think it'll be enough for the pirates to calm down a bit :p just my opinion btw
One health is not going to stop people from playing Pirate Warrior. Sure they might not play STB (they may still) but they'll just sub it for something else. Aggro shaman will probably not be played but midrange will still be there and I wouldn't be surprised if the rogue decks didn't change much either.

You do realize that there were literally no pirate decks before Small Time Buccaneer existed, right? Pirates were shit before this card, and they are shit without it.

Pirate Warrior has been competitive since Old Gods, people were winning tournaments with it. It'll still be played, with or without STB, and it'll still be competitive. :P

Let me know what you guys think.
Hearthstone is a game of "copy and pasting"
Midrange Shaman will dominate
My Recruit url for those who want dem packs! https://battle.net/recruit/CDF2JMK6CQ?blzcmp=raf-hs&s=HS&m=pc
Pirate warrior still playable, some changes and maybe some migration to dragon.
Shaman play midrange with some jade splash.
The rest don't change at all, anyone thinking jade druid can rise from the tier 3 because of this lacking, insuficient and soft nerf is wrong.
true, but midranged isnt as oppressive as Aggro shaman is

FOR THE HORDE!
Murlocs will make a comeback!
Don't laugh, but it will be nice be able to kill the buccaneer with Alleycat now.

Your prediction was right i versed 4 jade druid decks in a row
