So I was killing time while my lady was shopping watching some Kripp stream tonight and saw him playing this interesting deck. I watched a few games from it, but he never showed a deck list and I couldnt find one when I got home to look. I unerstood the concept and loved the idea and decided to throw it together with what made sense to me and this is what I came up with...
Ok so after a some playing and testing and tweeking and what not, I have come to the conclusion that this deck is a freakin blast to play. I love it. I still think it needs some work, but honestly its pretty viable from the testing I have done. Im not a pro by any means, but I am currently Rank 7-8 depending on what crazy deck I feel like playing for the day.
Anyways, some things about the deck...
Turn 2 4/7 taunt is awesome. Yes, that happens and it pisses aggro off, I love it. Ancestral Healing and Ancestral Spirit [/card]are both super fun cards to play. The deck plays out like a control deck for the most part, with taunts and card draw, and board control, and it does all that very well. You have hex for anything crazy, and [card]Ancestral healing plus The Black Knight kills any creature which is pretty sweet.
Yes Al'Akir the Windlord is in this deck, and yes he wins a lot of games. Try to save your Rockbiter Weapon's if possible for an 18 damage burst that no one will be expecting!
Anywho, if you enjoy playing shaman and are looking for something different and fun to play yet is still competitive give this a whirl, let me know what yall come up with, maybe we can make the deck even stronger :-)
I understand where the 4/7 taunt is coming from now, but you might want to explain how things work when you refer to combo's. Just makes it easier for people to understand. Question though, how do you get 18 damage from Al'akir? Rockbiter plus him is 12 damage.

Yeah generally you dont end up playing him til really late so having both rockbiters in hand isnt uncommon. And yeah, I could have spelled out the coin into blademaster into healing, sorry bout that :-)
at least this one is more fun than good so no big deal, free wins. has little draw power so a couple silences and you're good. easy pickings for druids

Actually Kripp is known for his arena skills and streaming, most people are not going to take some random shaman deck he is messing around with and follow it as scripture, but if you feel that way more power to you :-)
Yes the deck is fun, but more fun than good? Would you care to elaborate more than what you have because the couple of statements you supplied where a bit lacking, which is understandable because you obviously have not given the deck a couple of go arounds yet. The entire mechanic of shaman is overload and totems, that being said, you generally have a decent amount of cards in hand due to not being able to curve out like a normal class does, but you are dropping more powerful cards for the mana that you are spending. That coupled with the draw that the deck does have means you are not sitting with an empty hand very often.
Another funny thing is, out of the handful of games I have played with this fun deck, I have yet to lose to a druid. Granted that is out of only 4 druid matches which is by no means a suitable sample size to start justifying things, but a 4-0 start is not necessarily something to be upset about!
To each their own though, sorry you are not a fan and are so quick to dismiss something different, but I do appreciate your input. Any critisism is useful even if it short simple and based on nothing useful :-)
Honestly, if you are using al'akir solely for the 18 damage boost, you could just play a leeroy jenkins in this deck instead and get a 7 mana 18 damage (or even 24 at 8 mana with 2 rockbiters). Of course you would have to replace some cards with windfury and collect one more card which is a downside. But it does give you options for a leeroy + windfury 12 damage early or even just a 9 damage rockbiter+leeroy.
The ancestral healing injured blademaster is a really sick combo tho

Thats true, but to make a windfury/rockbiter/leeroy combo work it would kind of change the deck up into something a little too far away from what I think is what makes it fun. Pushes it towards aggro shaman, which I as well as I am sure numerous other people have tried and just felt like it wasnt quite as good as other classes aggro variants. Strangely enough, the Al'Akir combo is a great finisher, but has also done some work because after you drop a 12 or 18 combo you still have a divine shield taunter left over that is most likely going to protect your fragile shaman but for another turn as opposed to leeroy where he only comes out if you have exactly lethal or a way to gain board control back.
Yes yes, Im not going to debate that Al'Akir is a great legendary, and I will also agree he is one of, if not the, worst class specific legendary, but hey, he works here and even though you might not like him power wise, he is fun to see on the battlefield!
Not to mention leeroy/rockbiter/windfury takes 3 different cards which can be hard to pull together. As for the deck, I went undefeated in the 3 games I played with it, which isn't a lot but it's solid enough. I'm not using ragnaros or sylvanas since I don't have them, but nevertheless, the deck is similar. I tend to use Al'Akir for removal more than a big burst win
Yea I agree, the 3 card combo is a lot harder to pull off than just al'akir and it is fun to see that card on the field :) I feel perhaps that swapping in a 1 or even 2 windfurys might even make the deck weaker since you are removing something else that could be vital.
