Owls are one of those cards that is always useful. You always have something in the course of a game that you would love to silence, but I have found that considering how well the minions trade in this deck they can push through or out race pretty much anything. The only deck that I seem to be having some trouble with is Hunters if I get a slow draw, but then again face hunters are hard to beat for anyone if they get a good draw.
The Tirion is just cause I like the guy, but the peacekeepers are just pure tempo. Drop one against an opponents loatheb or shredder and just keep hitting face while he realizes he just wasted his turn.
Hello all, most of you probably have no idea who I am but I used to build some decks a long time ago back in Beta, I am an old school MTG player for over 15 years so its safe to say I am a big fan of CCG's. Paladin has always been my favorite class in HS and I was really excited to see it get some love in GvG considering it was one of, if not the, worst class in the game there for a long while. While I agree that cards like Muster and Quartermaster are amazing cards, I was getting bored with the typical Paladin deck and wanted to create something "new", so I went back and looked at my old paladin aggro deck and thought "Hey this could actually work really well in this meta". Anyways here is the list....
I am always up for critiques and suggestions (multiple brains are better than 1), but Ill go ahead and run down some card choices.
Avenge/Noble Sacrifice - Paladin secrets have always been.... ok, good ideas but just never found room for them in a deck. They are VERY strong in this deck hence the inclusion of Mad Scientist. They can really swing early temp in your favor which lets you run away the game a lot of the times forcing horrible trades for your opponent.
Divine Favor - Biggest problem with most aggro lists is they run out of steam or dont have the reach to finish the game if your opponent gets the chance to stabilize. thats where favor comes in. It will constantly let you keep the pressure up on your opponent and is just flat out broken against hand lock and other control lists like warrior.
Sword of Justice - Such an underrated card. The amount of value this thing brings is pretty op at times. It can be a little sketch against someone who runs Harrison, but thats just a risk worth taking imo.
Tirion Fordring - Easily one of the top class legendaries in the game. Yeah getting smacked with an owl can be pretty painful and having him MC'd can make you want to flip a table, but this guy is just good. I have been toying around with swapping him for Dr. Boom, but I just have a soft spot for this guy.
Everything else is pretty standard and straight forward for aggro. All the cards here provide either great trades for you or that extra reach or value from SoJ. There are a lot of cards not put in the list that are overly popular right now which might cause some people to look at this list and dismiss it, but there are reasons for it. I suggest anyone who wants a good ladder grinding deck and loves Pally to give this list a shot and see what you think. Feel free to post your experiences with it and let me know if you like it and what improvements you think can be made. Cheers!
Bloodlust is a win condition, just like any other big bomb you will drop in order to push that last amount of damage to win you the game. Shamans inherently have a big board presence though the use of their hero ability and especially more so after Naxx. If you have space, a 1 of Bloodlust is fine, but you should never run 2 because you will run into problems of having dead cards in your hand.
Tirion is by far the best class specific legendary for what its worth, but you also limit yourself to only being able to use him as a paladin so for one of your first legendaries I would suggest against him unless you are die hard paladin. As for which legendary you should craft, hands down no question it should be Sylvanas. I know you said you dont think you need her right now, but you do. She is that good and has no substitute. Cairne is a good card, but not good enough to be one of the first legendaries to craft imo. If you are really against crafting Sylvannas, then you should go ahead and craft a Bloodmage. That guy is used in so many decks and is super value and you are never upset to draw him.
I dont use Ysera any more because she felt too slow and unnecessary in the list. Dont get me wrong, she is great when she sticks round for a round or 2, but she wasnt needed as a win condition. If you really want to play her the only card I feel that isnt necessary is Bite. She isnt a replacment for Nat Pagle by any means, but if you dont have one, just put her in and see how you feel about it.
Yeah honestly its a great idea. I dont normally have an issue with having a creature with not enough attack on board to be able to clear the opposing side, but I do really like the idea. It basically just gives you an out to one more situation that can be avoided. Ill be sure to give it a shot, thanks for the input!
Ok so I totally just switched 1 power overwhelming for 1 mortal coil and it just won me the game! Obviously going to test it more, but really do like the switch, thanks VicVii.
Ok so the other day when I saw the MLG top 3 decklists I saw an interesting warlock control list by Jaden which caught my eye. The reason it caught my eye is because I have been messing around with my lock control deck for about a month now and its like the decks could be brothers from another mother! Ok enough of my rambling...
Ok there ya go. This deck is so damn fun to play I cant even tell ya in words. I have been working on this deck for quite a while now because I really hate following the "norm" when it comes to games. I refuse to play warlock aggro but yet still love the class and wanted to make something else work and be successful even at the higher ranks. This deck does just that. So many synergies and "combos" with all the cards in this deck, plus not to mention that it is one of the few decks besides that warrior OTK list that doesnt mind taking damage. In a world full of aggro decks, you are gonna take damage, might as well use it to your advantage!
Ill go over some of the card choices like usual and a couple strats...
Lord Jaraxxus is just fun. Yes he can be considered a "win more" card, but this deck tends to get a lot more value from him than just any old lock deck with jarax tossed in. You generally are going to be sitting at low life around turn 8-10 which is when you are gonna be setting up your play with him, but the cool thing is, with the amount of board clear/creature removal this deck has, you generally will be in a very strong board position with at least 1-2 big taunters on board when you play this guy. Once you do, game is pretty much over. I have only lost one time when I have had board control and played Jaraxxus.... ill let you guess to what... Mage, BINGO! Its gonna happen, I just smiled and moved on to the next game (stupid pyroblast... blah blah..)
Molten Giant, those guys just do work, and a lot of it. There are no fancy 1 turn kills with them, or some other crazy combo, but they are a massive 8/8 that comes down very cheaply almost every game, and love to be huddled up around a Defender of Argus. Whether being a massive taunter, or just a big beat stick, most of your wins will come from these guys.
I really actually like the Ancient Watcher engine. I used to not be a fan at all, then I started playing with it more and more and I have become a huge supporter. Obviously you will want to slam down a Defender of Argus or a Sunfury Protector on them which is kind of the point, but the 1 of Spellbreaker can sure come down and turn him into a Chillwind Yetisuper quick if need be. (I dont suggest doing this against certain classes like paladins or druids, and unless you have already dealt with their sylvannas, you are gonna need that silence later)
All the other cards are just pure value and your typical "good" cards. Yes I run 2 Shadowflame, and I would run a 3rd if I could, card is amazing.
Anyways, try it out, tell me what you guys think. This is the perfect starting point if you love playing the warlock class but are not a fan of playing the roll face aggro lists that are out there. This deck has a very high win rate against aggro lock, aggro mage and druids which is most of the meta game right now (playing consistently rank 4 and under). Please leave feedback and I would love to hear yalls ideas about the list and hopefully make it better. Enjoy!
To me it sounds like one of those situations that you just randomly cant prepare for. Thing about this game and all ccg's is, its almost impossible to build a deck that will beat every deck. The best thing you can do is anticipate the meta game you expect to see and prepare your deck accordingly. Sometimes you just get beat by someone have a couple of midrange creatures out and them dropping Force of Nature + Savage Roar, or getting crushed for 15 by some totems you couldnt clear out and a Bloodlust. Its just gonna happen. Of course you can tailor your deck to be better in those types of situations, but then it would alter the deck and the next thing you know you are losing to the decks you used to beat consistently.
Anywho.... No matter who you are or what deck you play, sometimes you are just gonna get stomped and its gonna sting a bit. Im glad you like my decks though and am having success with them, always a good thing to hear :-)
2 novice enineer imo. You have enough early game defense with watcher wall set up and enough aoe with swipe and starfall so the wild pyromancer seems excessive to me. You are lacking card draw in the list from what I see, but try 10 games of both and when ever you pull one ask yourself if you would have rather it been the other, will help you make your decision.
Nourish and starfall are not staples in a druid deck imo. They can easily be replaced. Between the 2 legendaries that you are considering, bloodmage thalnos is superior, he is top 3 legendaries in the game and valuable in almost any deck built.
In reguards to the main list of this thread, its seems fine. The only thing I would change would be to somehow fit 2 claw into it. The early game pressure you will get from locks and aggro mages is very easily shut down with claw, and the card is never dead in your hand because at worst the card can read, spend 1 mana, gain 2 life deal 2 damage to opponent.
Its very similar to my warlock control list I have been running the past few days with good success (rank 4). One thing I really want to suggest is that you find a spot for 2 Molten Giant. They are amazing in this type of deck, also you should find room for 2Defender of Argus, again just such a good card that gives pure value. The cards I dont like in the list that I think could be swapped out are the Power Overwhelming, the Emperor Cobra and the Soulfire. Just my opinions, feel free to take them with a grain of salt (except the Molten Giant part, put those in asap)
Hey everyone, this is an aggro paladin deck that I put together and have been playing recently. I have done most of my ladder grinding with my druid deck (in the druid forums if interested), but its nice to switch up the pace every once in a while and this is the deck I do it with. (Also helpful cause it isnt crazy expensive like most of my other decks...)
Now I think the deck is still a little rough around the edges and needs a bit of tweeking still, but so far its been fairing pretty well at decently high ranking. Its a very straight forward aggro style deck that relies on above average trades and high pressure forcing the opponent to make poor decisions.
I have been playing a ton of warlocks and rogues lately for some reason and I have a pretty good win rate agaisnt both of them, druids can be kind of a pain in the butt, but with a good divine favor you can keep an immense amount of pressure up. Anyways, let me know what yall think or what ideas you have, I would love to polish this list out of anyone is interested in a deck like this. Thanks :-)
With druids, im guessing you've had trouble with late game?
Honestly no. It normally doesnt make it to late game. The deck is surprisingly fast. It trades against almost any early game taunter, and by the time they get to 7 mana to drop ancient of wars, they are generally so low I can just push though. Yes an innervated turn 5 ancient of war is annoying, but ya cant win every game ;-)
It also helps that I main druid and know the class inside and out and know what to expect.
You end up dumping your hand so fast with this deck that you can almost always get a ton of value out of divine favor. Equality is an amazing card no doubt, but you have such amazing trades with this deck that you can take down almost anything, earth eles, ancient of wars etc. and still come out on top. Im glad you broke single digits, Im currently bouncing between rank 4-5 because I havnt had a ton of time to play and really push forward, good luck though!

I really think that wild growth is not needed any more. Innervate is more than enough ramp for the deck and you need more value cards in place of the wild growth. Im a big fan of a 1 of bite in druid decks, works wonders in mine and Ancient of Lore is a great card so a swap there seems fine too, could be numerous other things, but your path seems fine.
Feel free to check out my thread for my current druid list, I tend to keep it up to date and it performs very strongly at high levels.
