Really the card is unexciting and terrible compared to cards like Malorne and Malganis. I was so excited to see what blizz had in store for us Shaman players... turns out not much and seeing by the rest of the expansion we are not getting anything super special to make up for this card.
Edit: So I made this thread as a reaction to me first seeing Neptulon but after looking at other players opinions and doing some thinking of my own I think that he is actually pretty good. I think he will make Control Shaman much better then it is now and with some other GvG cards might make that a great deck that I definitely want to try. On top of that I think Neptulon will make a great finisher for a bloodlust Shaman deck which with GvG cards will be much more viable imo. While it seems Murlocs were pushed on us im not to sure that a murlock aggro shaman deck will be that great but maybe after some testing it will be ok but im not convinced yet with our current card pool.
really? i don't think Malorne is that great. personally i don't mind Neptulon, shaman really only have one way to play right now (and likely in gvg as well), so if this card along with the other neutral murlocs will finally let us run a faster build, i'm all for it.
Well the card is a 7/7 for 10 mana if you count the overload and you draw 4 cards BUT those cards are limited to Murlocs with have pretty much 0 value for you unless you are running a murlock deck I was hoping for something like a Vojin or Malorne a card that can be played in most of the decks and is great on its own. Sure we can play Murlock Shaman now but I still think that this card will be kind of weird because Murlock decks are usually used as an aggro type deck and Shamans have a hard time sustaining that kind of deck and by turn 7 you would probably be looking to end soon after.
Also one point, when you play this next turn you are overloaded for 3 this means you will have a hard time getting out those murlocks you drew.
I think the whole idea of making Murlock deck for a class to be pretty interesting but I dont think Shaman was the class to do it with. all I hope is that Murlock Shaman isnt the only viable thing now like midrange is pre GvG. The thing I dont like with this is that Shamans are getting a lot of stuff to do with Murlocks but the non murlock decks seem like they are not getting that much out of this expansion other then a few cards wich might not be that great after some testing.
The rise of hand shaman is here o_o. I can see it now, a murloc/mountain giant/twilight drake deck .
Finally, someone else thinking outside the box. Card count can be a thing. We already know it is for twighlight drake or sea giant. Sure, this would come late game, but dropping 4 cheap murlocs and a sea giant or twighlight drake after priest/druid has used all their board clear is daring them to do something about it before next turn when you blood lust or Flametongue. And the thing is, that literally takes up TWO spots in your deck! Neptulon and a Sea Giant. and you get 6 minions. Just build other synergy in the deck you make. Also, just consider murlocs tokens (yes it has a card, but you don't have to use slots in your deck for them), then use the usual bloodlust, Flametongue, etc etc.
Ovbiously I don't have a deck built for this, but the idea is solid. Toss a few defender of argii, then make the rest a mech deck. Or a murlock deck with the epic, or just a mid range with multiple late game options. Or an agro deck that can recover if the game goes too long. Again, the above late game options is TWO CARDS out of 30, three if you want two sea giants. You don't have to build a deck around purely those options.
Really, this is a fascinating card, and shows me they are thinking about making shaman interesting with varied approaches.
I wouldn't disregard this card at all. Murlocs have strong synergy, and four is enough to put together a tasty little burst. Add in buffs, taunts, parts, etc and potentially huge amount of value.
I actually like how shaman turned out for gvg so far. Mid-Range got Crackle and finally some healing, the powermace is great in any deck with a decent amount of mechs, and Siltfin opens up a new path for shaman decks, even if a lot of people don't like this path. Not to mention that Neptulon might be viable in any deck, not just murloc, since shaman loves buffing small minions.
I get it now. Blizzard is trying to kill off the Shaman class.
If you look, a lot of the Shaman cards no longer even exist in WoW, so what better way to get rid of Shaman and replace it with Monk or Death Knight? Make Shaman so underwhelming that no one wants to play it and we, the community, will welcome the change.
Yes, you may be thinking, Blizzard can just add a new class! That would mean an entire UI overhaul to include a 10th or 11th class into the "Create Deck" screen. You have to remember, Blizzard loves cutting corners.
Nope, it's much easier and cost efficient to just scrap Shaman and replace it with Monk or DK (Hero classes and cards Blizzard already has waiting). What about our existing cards? You'll be awarded dust based on their playability value, not the current rarity value that we have now. Cards like Lightning Bolt and Lightning Storm will award the most dust, while cards like Far Sight and Earth Elemental will award no dust, or perhaps even a negative amount, meaning you could actually OWE Blizzard dust before you can create any new cards, and cards like Hex and Flametongue Totem (Soulbound cards) will be reminders of the once eh...so-so class we once had, unable to be played in any decks since the Shaman class will no longer be.
I've seen through your charade Blizzard. I know your tricks! I'm ready! It's your move...
I think if this card was 7 mana overload 3 7/7 and it said draw 3-4 cards idk if 4 cards would be too op but anyways if it was that and not restrite to only murlock cards it would offer Shaman much needed carddraw as well and still giving them a nice big minion on the board. This is the type of card that would be played in mid range and control decks and would make a great addition.
Honestly I could see if blizzard sorta left hunters out of the great cards this expac because they have had so much power for a long while but no hunters get some nice additions as well as a solid option for control. We get some possibly good cards and then murlocks it is kind of a let down either I wont main Shaman unless I get lucky and draw the right cards to make this murlock thing work or im just gonna switch to hunter or priest who got some interesting cards.
When I first saw this card, I was thinking that this card was meh and probably won't see much play.
However, after thinking for a while I came to realise that this card is actually quite decent. Sure, some may argue that "10 mana" for a 7/7 war golem that get BGH too often and 4 useless murloc cards may be quite bad but it can be quite good in certain situations.
For example: When you playing a control game and you are reaching the late games. More often than not, I find myself struggling to topdeck a heavy minion (aka Loatheb) to defend myself against my opponent's minion. What does happen most of the time is that I topdeck a haunted creeper or any early game cards that does not help me in the battle in any way.
Now, consider this. You are in a topdecking game against your opponent.Playing Neptulon not only baits out removal/possibly trade against a high cost minions. You also get 4 murlocs (that are typically worth 2-3 mana each) that you can play (at least 2) next turn to help establish board control. From then on, your opponent has to RNG topdeck AOE against your board to ensure his/her survival.
For course, Neptulon may be a bit too slow to play in this current meta and I would never consider crafting it. But if I do get this card (due to some RNG pack opening), I will definitely try this card out for a few cards and see how it goes.
I have said it before and I will say it again here. Shaman is the most overlooked and shat on class that Blizzard has. with that being said, I main Shaman; they are the best class even with all the terrible cards and class issues like card draw and healing. The new meta will bring exciting new opportunities for hunters, druids, paladins, and warriors. and Shaman will still be there controlling the board or out tempoing everyone else. there are a lot of great neutral cards for shaman to play with. I would say that is our best bet for new innovative deck structure
Guys i speak from experience - 2 arena runs both with Neptulon (i swear they are totally weighting the RNG right now like crazy). Neptulon is a tier 1 legendary. Like possibly one of the best. Imagine if you could cast Onyxia 3 turns earlier....and the minions she summoned were always better stats than 1/1. That's Neptulon. And his intro animation is the best in the game (King Krush finally has been dethroned ;) ). I know people wanna hate on him cause it was SO unexpected. But play him once and be converted.

A big body and 4 cards in hand is bad? k
I bet people like Ben loves it, you can just imagine him saying, "You're getting 4 AWESOME MURLOCS, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!"
hey we all wanted new deck archetypes. here ya go. careful what you wish for next time.
really? i don't think Malorne is that great. personally i don't mind Neptulon, shaman really only have one way to play right now (and likely in gvg as well), so if this card along with the other neutral murlocs will finally let us run a faster build, i'm all for it.

someone plz draw a "defender of arGILL" and have it be a murloc in armor would be halirous :D

Neptulon needs to overload for 1 less IMO. It makes it so you can actually play an 8 drop after you play neptulon at turn 10.
Thanks FOO(The Banner God)!
