There are lot of good neutral legendaries to build decks around a theme/strategy, our new class legendary will at least provide new options to a class that has been stuck way too long with 22 or more core cards you used to find in any list.
The only joke is how lame his summoning and attack quotes are. But hearing he has an intro animation makes me actually want to craft him.
Also, playing around with Murlocs in various decks, they are actually pretty good (if you could get Warleader and Coldlight Seer). You don't actually need a Murloc deck to make him work probably. The four Murlocs he give will probably have enough synergy with themselves to work.
The deal is simple. Classes that had a good Legendary got a crappy one and vice-versa: Tirion/Bolvar, Alakir/Neptulon etc.
Cenarius/Malorne, Jaraxxus/Mal'ganis ??
WHile i love Antonidas and have a lot of fun playing with him he's not In Tirion's, gromash's or Alak'irs league, hell he may be even out of Cenarius league, so your explanation doesn't justify Flame Leviathan.
Think about it this way: Sprint draws you four cards from your deck for 7 mana. This card is a War Golem for the same price that gives you four free cards, not from your deck. Compared to Sprint and considering the overload, Neptulon is technically a War Golem for 3 mana, which is insane.
I get it now. Blizzard is trying to kill off the Shaman class.
If you look, a lot of the Shaman cards no longer even exist in WoW, so what better way to get rid of Shaman and replace it with Monk or Death Knight? Make Shaman so underwhelming that no one wants to play it and we, the community, will welcome the change.
Yes, you may be thinking, Blizzard can just add a new class! That would mean an entire UI overhaul to include a 10th or 11th class into the "Create Deck" screen. You have to remember, Blizzard loves cutting corners.
Nope, it's much easier and cost efficient to just scrap Shaman and replace it with Monk or DK (Hero classes and cards Blizzard already has waiting). What about our existing cards? You'll be awarded dust based on their playability value, not the current rarity value that we have now. Cards like Lightning Bolt and Lightning Storm will award the most dust, while cards like Far Sight and Earth Elemental will award no dust, or perhaps even a negative amount, meaning you could actually OWE Blizzard dust before you can create any new cards, and cards like Hex and Flametongue Totem (Soulbound cards) will be reminders of the once eh...so-so class we once had, unable to be played in any decks since the Shaman class will no longer be.
I've seen through your charade Blizzard. I know your tricks! I'm ready! It's your move...
Please tell you doctor that it's not nice to let lobotomy patients on the internet...
Antonidas probably has the highest ceiling in the game. No idea why you think he's any worse than the cards you listed, especially Grom or Alakir Yes, of course he needs other cards in your hand to shine, but really only 1, which is the same as the other two I previously mentioned. The fact that, in my opinion, he ends up being the most powerful card in the game puts him at the very least the same as Grom or Alakir.
Guys i speak from experience - 2 arena runs both with Neptulon (i swear they are totally weighting the RNG right now like crazy). Neptulon is a tier 1 legendary. Like possibly one of the best. Imagine if you could cast Onyxia 3 turns earlier....and the minions she summoned were always better stats than 1/1. That's Neptulon. And his intro animation is the best in the game (King Krush finally has been dethroned ;) ). I know people wanna hate on him cause it was SO unexpected. But play him once and be converted.
That is from an arena perspective though. In arena it is about overall card value. I will admit that Neptulon is great in arena because of its body and the card advantage it gives you. In constructed it is most likely going to be a different story. In arena cards that are sub-par are great, because of initial value, like Onyxia for example, she gives you a lot of stats and a big body but she is too slow in constructed and not that effective. I just think that people that are for Neptulon are overvaluing the murlocks in constructed. I do not think that Neptulon is a tier 1 card like Tirion or Rag, he is more of a tier 2 card along side Antonidas and Cenarius. He is not bad in a lot of cases, but I do not think he can be great in most situations. My opinion of this card has changed a lot from what I have initially thought, that it had really no place in any deck if it wanted to be viable to maybe it can work under the right situations and give you that extra push. I think we can all agree that this card was underwhelming when we first saw it and that if it was a better Ancient of Lore, where it could draw 4 cards from your deck with 3 overload, I would consider it a tier 1 legendary.
I made this thread as a reaction to me first seeing Neptulon but after looking at other players opinions and doing some thinking of my own I think that he is actually pretty good. I think he will make Control Shaman much better then it is now and with some other GvG cards might make that a great deck that I definitely want to try. On top of that I think Neptulon will make a great finisher for a bloodlust Shaman deck which with GvG cards will be much more viable imo. While it seems Murlocs were pushed on us im not to sure that a murlock aggro shaman deck will be that great but maybe after some testing it will be ok but im not convinced yet with our current card pool.
Yup. Initial hate is warranted from it being deceivingly specific. Though once you understand its sprinting you in the late game with synergystic minions and a huge bod, you just cannot go wrong with this merman.
Yeah I am actually really excited to play this guy tomorrow in my deck if i dont get him from one of the many packs im buying then ill just craft him. I really want to try a control Shaman with him and some other cards and see if its good.
Im not excited for Neptulon himself a 7/7 is boring as hell but I think some of the crazy combos that will come out of the Murlocks will make it worth it. I saw a screenshot of someone who played Neptulon and got 3 Old murkeyes and one bluegill warrior, stuff like that adds for some sweet plays that im looking forward to getting out of this card.
Use Neptulon in my Shaman Control deck today. He is so much better than expected. The Murlocs are great together and his body must be dealt with. First game I used him, drew the 4 Murlocs, traded 2 of his minions in Neptulon and then 2 more in Murlocs. Value.
Well maybe if Blizz had their stuff together I could have bought some packs last night but seeing as the store was closed all night I have to wait until I get home today to buy packs to try out Neptulon.
