After the release of TGT, Suddenly a lot of Paladin players started playing the new deck type that have emerged from the mysterious challenger card.(Also new players started playing paladin to rank easily ) At the moment at Rank 5 EU server, I haven't seen a single paladin, not be "secret". What happened to the control or midrange or even Dragon type decks that have existed before the newest expansion? I am worried that this card somehow, ruined the class at its roots making its core cards unusable.
It might be me but do you think Paladins will ever seen change in their decks untill next expansion?
I think mid-range paladin got hurt a fair bit by TGT (even the awesome murloc knight couldn't stop some matchups from getting worse). It is also completely crushed by GP warrior, and any deck that is completely crushed by the best deck on the ladder will always be in dire straights.
I think it is sad personally. I don't like neither rush paladin nor secret paladin thematically, but that is of course only preference talking.
I wanted the control pally to be athing, I tried it, I hoped for it... but it just didn't happen. The TGT hasn't slowed down the meta at all. Ladder is still a face race. And in that game a control pally cannot win but join.
Pally has no efficent removal at all, single/hard removal I mean, Consecration+Equality combi is still awesome.
Aldor Peacekeeper: doesn't remove anything, your opponent still have a 1 attack minion on board (at an aggro machup it can be crucial)
Eadric the Pure: hard to find a time to play it. Againts aggro it preatty much doest do anything. Even if a full board got Eadriced your opponent still has 7 damage to your face, not to mantion that aggro decks can buff the shit out of them.
Enter the Coliseum: It may be useful againts hard control decks, but doesn't worth a peny againts aggro. They flood the board like nothing happpened plus u just wasted the whole turn 6, means you are dead next turn anyway.
Aggro decks simply just out-face our control pally, the other control decks are just working better. All we can do is hoping we can dorp our DR. 6 at turn 6....

Paladins in my opinion was the only class that actually had a "thematic" deck building since the game released. To be honest the mysterious challenger adds a lot of theme to the class but removes, mechanisms making the decks autoplay and nearly, brainless.
You're right that the secrets Paladin has pretty much taken things over for the moment... but not completely. There are still a few of us playing midrange. I got legend with it last season, Strifecro played it at ATLC, and I usually still see at least one or two others a day on the NA ladder. So we are basically endangered, but not quite extinct.
Control Paladin, even though I absolutely love it, is not coming back until there is a substantial meta shift (meaning not until at least another expansion/adventure). It's just too slow at the moment.
Mysterious Challenger isn't really the cause of the decline of those decks... well, not exactly. It's primarily the speed of the game. Even with midrange Paladin's strong early game, you have to play near perfectly to avoid being SMorced down by most aggro decks.
The main reason that you are seeing so many people playing secrets Paladin is simple: cheap wins. I'm not saying it's a bad deck. What I mean is that you can farm wins (especially below rank 5) because many people still haven't learned how to play around the secrets. It's not that hard in most cases, but it requires patience, thinking through turns carefully, and saving the tools to deal with it. Most players unfortunately just don't do this. On the other side of it, most of the people playing Mysterious Challenger tend to do things like play secrets at inopportune times, or play their Mysterious Challenger onto an empty board, making it very easy to deal with. It's actually very similar to most Grim Patron players... they just don't play the deck well (although Patron can admittedly be much, much trickier).

Despite what I said about people misplaying it (which they very often do), I kind of agree with this last part as well. I was one of the people playing around with the deck early on, and came to hate it very quickly... Even though it was winning at an absurd rate at that time. Your turns feel very automated, with there being one correct play most of the time, instead of having multiple lines of play to choose from. I really enjoy flexible decks, so it just became unbearable very quickly. I was even playing a more midrange-y version than what you see most often. I absolutely could not imagine how tedious the more aggro oriented versions must be to play.

The most aggro variations only have 15 cards x2. So you can imagine how boring and tedious must be
I'm surprised midrange token paladin isn't a thing. It got me to from rank 14 to rank 4 and my golden portrait in the last few days of last month with a good winrate.

Yeah, I agree with this. I think the worst of secret paladin by far is how easy it is to play. I think actually think this is very bad for HS as a game.

I think its not a big deal because if you get a board wipe its 90% defeat, or iam wrong? i havent played the token paly much and i havent seen it in ladder or casual for long time.

depends on the secret in all honesty..... now that cards like murloc knight and mysterious challenger and argent lance exist, i think the future can take an interesting turn.
the reason i say depends on the secret and listed the above card is simply this: if we get more cards like retribution or noble sacrifice, we could push for a midrange to controlish secret paladin deck with low drops like secret keeper and shieldbots with argent lance mix in to joust the mid to high end minions like tirion, dragon consort (if you do play with high end dragon) to establish early game board presence and control, which means your 4 drop of choice is more likely murloc knight.... because of what it can target, its going to be less random and less likely to screw you like piloted shredder....
if we get more secrets like competitive spirits and avenge however, you are more likely to see faster weenie rush with anthem (one side global pump effects) with mysterious challenger, tirion, and even doctor boom as finishers.
we are more likely to see silver hand recruit decks as they are more likely to get boost cards every expansion......
i wouldnt be surprise at some point, we will see wallet paladin control deck if we get better heal spells to mimic the constant armor effects in control warrior...

No, board wipes don't matter that much since you can fill the board again thanks to Justicar Trueheart and your token engines, as long as you don't overcommit with the engines. Only one Murloc Knight / Silver Hand Regent on board at a time for example. As soon as a couple recruits could stick a turn, it's Quartermaster time.

I dont think we will see any more paladin secrets in the near future and the reason is simple. People crying over that matter. Personaly i dont want to see more because it does not fits the class theme to play with so many secrets

but it was pretty hard. I wouldnt say it is a top tier archetype but still pretty viable though.
It crushes Priest and Control Warrior and has decent Matchups vs almost anything.
I am playing nearly that list with a second belcher for HJ. I still enjoy playing it but it is certainly not the most effective deck. I am a bit sad as I am aiming for my golden protrait with Pala and since I not enjoy Eboladin, I am struggling. May I will try Secretadin after all *sigh*

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.

Well done. Although you cannot see it, I am tipping my cap to you at this very moment.
