Try out one of both maybe? Depends on taste and luck of the draw really, a well timed sunfury or DoA can easily block out all of a rush deck's power, whereas a claw may not at the same time, and vice versa.
Thanks for the response!
I played a bunch of games and found that 2X sunfury instead of 2X claw has saved me a lot of times to rush decks and heavy hitters in the late game. I leveled all the way to to rank 8, but now i'm finding myself facing lots of decks with 3-4 legendaries. As a result, I've gotten rid of 1 sunfury, and I've replaced it with a naturalize. Anyone have a similar experience, and swaped in a naturalize?
Played this around Rank 9/10 but I just couldn't get lower than that. So I started doing minor changes and well, ended up with a quite different type of deck, still had this as the foundation though! Now sitting at rank 4 mainly. I don't have Tinkmaster or Ysera, so could have been a reason I couldn't use Aishis deck further than Rank 9. I felt the Sunfuries didn't realy fulfill that much seeing how there's a lot of taunts in there already, and for early game "counter" Wraths, claws and a lucky turn 4 Thalnos+Innervate+Swipe is well enough to hinder the rush type of decks.

Current problem areas are rush decks (only hit 1 OTK Warrior but Murlocs are more of a problem) and the incredibly annoying mage decks that just manage to top deck Pyroblast every single time they need it.
Have considered swapping out Sylvanas Windrunner for a Faceless Manipulator based on every time I put her out my opponent actively looks to clear his board and leave me nothing to steal anyway. From that perspective it almost acts like a Doomsayer.
Aishi thanks for sharing this deck, it's a lot of fun.
I'm missing Thalnos, Tink, and Ysera but I just subbed an ironbark, a sunfury, and a Naturalize, it's been a ton of fun.
I recorded a video of 6 or 7 games, working on getting the audio levels and video quality right and then I'll upload it. The last game was awesome, managed to use innervate + coin on 10 mana to get out two ragnaros's.....ragnarosi? It was pretty epic haha.
I have been running this deck at rank 5 and recently made it to rank 4 again with only switching out Ysera for Baron Geddon. I am considering possibly switching Ysera back in for Ragnaros the Firelord because he always dies next turn or can't be played due to too many targets being up.
Ragnaros is more or less a finisher, something that Druid decks love. I'd definitely play Ragnaros over Ysera every time, bank on that. Especially with the two silences that Druids naturally run via Keeper of the Grove.
You'll only climb easier as you better acquaint yourself with the deck, as it takes effort on the player's part as well. Dismissing something so easily right as you pick it up is a self-destructive way of thinking. It may take hours upon hours of play to adapt to a new deck or class's playstyle and possibly tailoring it to your liking. Keep at it.

The thing is that everyone runs Big Game Hunter or saves hard removal, the only time to play Ragnaros the Firelord is on a clean board to basically finish your opponent off or at least bring them low, but it is quite hard to keep a clear board when you don't have many minions of your own.
I also took a look at StrifeCro's deck which is very similar. I will use the deck below after the ranks reset and possibly make changes as I go along. I have opted to add in The Black Knight for mirror matches and control Warlocks.
Hm, I use Nourish for turn 6 Ragnaros just as often as card draw, there's plenty of card draw between Thalnos/Azure Drakes/Wrath otherwise, but Nourish is easily insurance. Sometimes you have a dead hand because you want to hold back cards OR you only want to play something small that turn. I always prefer the safer play and Nourish helps - if I have a creature or two out on the board by turn 5 for one reason or another, it'll be small removal + ramp. The natural switch is to Healing Touch or a Sunwalker, this much I'll recommend to those who don't like Nourish too much.
Remember Nourish gives you 2 crystals, turn 6 you can Claw + Hero Power, turn 5 you can Wrath or Hero Power. The quicker you get to 10 mana, the more options you have each turn. There's multiple 5 drops in the deck for this reason to keep up with using Nourish and overwhelming your opponent before the big drops come out.
Also, that's fine to force Big Game out of your opponent. Clear the board, put Ragnaros down: this prevents Rag becoming a dead card by creating an immediate threat. Even 8 damage done is great alongside forcing your opponent's hand by telling him he has to deal with Ragnaros now. What, afraid of a Big Game Hunter/Tinkmaster and some other 3/4 mana drop? I'm not, I got big creatures for days! I'm a Druid!
Maybe he was holding back Equality, or Tinkmaster, or Sylvanas, that's your time to react to the opponent's play while you're prepared rather than when the game is down to the wire. The bonus is that if he doesn't have removal ready, game's pretty much over as you blast his board every turn behind a mid-to-late game deck. Consider that Rag is one card of 30 to end the game, Big Game and maybe two more cards are 3 cards of 30 to stop it - those are good chances for a win.
Not everyone runs Big Game nowadays, you much more readily see Tinkmaster in my experience.
I prefer to be able to have insurance for my Ragnaros the Firelord by being able to clear the board with my other minions first and making sure I can clear more if needed, this deck has a lot of single drops that don't really provide that option when confronted with multiple smaller minions, of course there is also AoE but sometimes you have already used it and haven't drawn more yet or they have too much health.
I will see how it works out and who knows, he might end up back in the deck again but he has never helped me with druid so far.
You're far too hung up on the concept of not having cards on hand and this may skew your theorycrafting a bit. A single Ancient of War on a field of weenies has won me far too many games to count and if direct removal were that rampant, Druids wouldn't swear by it so much. Druid decks have often run much less spell damage and starfalls compared to my deck and done better than I. Either way, your own experience will probably lead you to picking the correct card for your playstyle. After all, maybe you haven't found the optimal way to play Ragnaros. Keep at it, good luck.
I've thrown in Mark of the Wild to try and help me against early rushers and ditched Faceless Manipulator + 1Starfall, I always feel like there are too many high cost cards and often sit with multiple good ones in my hand that get killed in a single turn.
Great deck. Gone from rank 17 to 10 so far (reset soon) and it's been really fun and versatile. Quite a number of fun combos, my favourite being against strong resilient decks, dropping Ragnaros the Firelord + Innervate x2 + [card]Faceless Manipulator[/card]... Really clears the gridlock :p
So far I run the full original deck, but the main card I'm not sure if worthwhile in this deck is [card]Sylvanas Windrunner[/card], simply because I usually end up in 2 situations: either I can keep his board clean (most often) or I need to play a couple of my big taunters to save the day. Fairly certain I'm playing her wrong in this deck, as I literally never got to use her power efficiently.
Considering if I should swap for another [card]Faceless Manipulator[/card] as the one I got really helped me a number of times. Or maybe I should consider something else like a Big Game Hunter or a Sunwalker...

I find windrunner to be useful in preventing them from dropping a big minion the next turn, and forcing awkward removal.
Faceless Manipulator is the bomb. I love closing out games with him and Leeroy, using him alongside Tinkmaster or just reinforcing the board with a second Ancient of War. There's a good amount of uses for him, especially in a deck with so many other 5/7 drops.
Sometimes, the 5 health on Sylvanas is a very awkward position for the opponent to face on a clear board, which is why I keep her, the board is often clear, so sending Sylvanas to the front lines means that the opponent needs some early removal or is forced to make an awkward play (I love the one minion Equality from Paladins). Depends on the class, sometimes you get a simple Starfall to clear her, sometimes you get a Leeroy, Equality, Hex, Polymorph or Tinkmaster, early enough in the game where the opponent has no decent follow-up to pressure you any further.
I've also ditched Ysera in favor of The Black Knight now, just as a small update. I preferably call this deck Midrange because it's not a permanent increase in mana, it's just Innervate with a focus on 5 mana cards. We're not "ramping up" and staying at higher mana, just giving ourselves a little spark of mana where we need it - yes, a few higher end drops, but four~five cards isn't going to shift the perspective of the deck.
NOOOOO i just crafted Ysera!! Now i am missing black night , thalnos. But you are right, i feel Ysera do not have the impact of ragnaros or i need more games to get used to her. I prefer the ironbark over her. I love those trees!

The biggest issue I have with that deck is that the minions are easy to control for your opponent, I prefer to sit behind Mirror Image and bombard him with spells instead, much safer and consistent. It also allows you to bypass the big taunts, the only counter to it is healing or a very fast rush and some bad draw for the mage.
But anyway that's not really on topic, so to bring it on topic: I've added a Healing Touch specifically for mages and other extremely aggressive decks because I felt that Earthen Ring Farseer was not enough and Ancient of Lore often comes too late.
I've replaced Ysera with Geddon and Sylvanas with a 2nd Faceless Manipulator just to try.
Won my first game with this, at rank 10, while Geddon didn't come out, casting 3x Ancient of War (5/10 + Taunt) in two turns is fun... well for me it was :D

A Doomsayer that always works is a pretty sick card if you think about it. Not that Sylvanas Windrunner always works, but when she does is quite OP.

Not sure how a deck that includes cards like Rag, Ysera, 3x Ancients Lore/Watcher can be considered "mid-range" :o
Looks like a solid ramp druid though, may try it after the reset.

As for a counter deck am trying this http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/23632-1-mage-deck-inspired-by-leonardk-eu-swiss-12-20. If you get them low enough before the big taunts you can nuke them.
