I was thinking that this expansion that I'd be crafting/unpacking all the commons, rares and epics before I looked into any of the legendaries... But I must know, are any of the legendaries from this expansion 'must haves'? So far, I haven't seen a single Dr.Boom of this expansion.
Probably Justicar Trueheart for most control decks (especially Priest and Warrior). Or Chillmaw, as people have already said - it will probably be an auto-include in every single dragon deck just because its effect is so good.
Many of the class legendaries (such as Varian Wrynn) have potential, though it's impossible to say for sure until release. Other than that, no. A few might be staples in certain decks, but how viable even those decks are has yet to be seen.
(And I can't help but compare Chillmaw to Abomination, even if the stats and the 3 damage are better.)
No there aren't but I agree with the consensus. Chillmaw is a must for dragon decks. Justicar Trueheart for future inspire decks and some control heavy decks.
I know for a fact I will craft Justicar but I'm not sure about any class legendary. Just wait a few weeks.
If it means "will definitely see play in a least one or some decks", then Justicar, Varian, Aviana, Dreadscale, Rhonin, Eydis, Fjola are guaranteed must have.
If it means "legend viable in tier 1 deck", my bet is on Justicar and Varian.
If it means "it might see gimmick play and maybe more" then this is Chillmaw, Icehowl, Bolf, Gormok, Saraad, Kragg
Other legs i have no idea, Mistcaller, Paletress, etc, nobody really knows imo, they might end up really OP or really terrible.
At the moment the only one I think might be usuable in a variety of decks is Nexus Champion Saraad. He has the most potential I think. At least in terms of a legendary that can find a home in many different decks. That being said I honestly dont think there is a Dr. Boom in this set which you can just throw into any deck and have him to a ton of work. But who knows? Maybe we are unfairly evaluating cards in theory and in practice something no one expected might come out and just be outright amazing. That is what Dr. Boom did, for now we are all in a wait and see mode.
I think must have is a Neutral card that gets crazy value and can be slotted in any deck. I haven't noticed that card yet. Perhaps it isn't a legend this time. Nexus-Champion Saraad intrigues me. I find myself comparing it to Azure Drake. Ultimately it loses to the Drake in my Druid deck because the Drake guarantees the card draw, thins my deck and combos with Swipe. If I get Nexus opening up my pre-50 packs, I'll try it out.
I feel the decent cards are Varian Wrynn, Rhonin, The Mistcaller and possibly Aviana for the classes. Saraad, Chillmaw for Dragons, and Valkyr sisters for the neutrals. All the other legendaries seem a little too gimmicky or just not good enough to see any play.
My bet would be on Nexus-Champion Saraad or maybe Chillmaw if dragons are really good with the expansion. Other than those probably not.
?! They both suck imho: Nexus champion is basically just a worse azure drake and chillmaw about as "good" as abomination...
I think chillmaw is a bit better than that but not good enough for constructed. Saraad is just bad really, i don't get the hype, good luck with inspire : draw Demonfuse/Astral Communion

You cant compare Nexus to Azure drake... Drake draws you a card from your deck and Nexxus adds a random card to your 30 card deck.
yap, and this is one of the reasons why the champion is "basically just a worse azure drake" - or do you honestly want to tell me that "adding a card to the deck" is an advantage because of fatigue ...?! Then I have to contradict you again - how many of your games with decks where you would use the cards actually go to fatigue - it will probably be around 2,566% ;)

ok, I give you that - "a bit better", which is still "sucks" though ...

Not because of fatigue but because of the chance of getting a card that can help you turn over a game.
Edit: Also 2 mana draw a random spell is good I think the other question is that it's not an immediate effect but honestly I think it will be played alot, time will show :).
I am sorry, but this is just completely wrong (yes, wrong): nobody even remotely good at this game would consider drawing a random spell better than drawing a card out of your deck! Your deck has cards in it you put there for a reason - they synergize with each other and the overall goal of the deck - the random spell has an infinitely smaller chance of actually synergizing with you deck or to be what you want to do at the moment. The only situation where a random spell is actually better than a card out of your deck are situation of extreme desperation - for example you need the twisting neither ... becaue it is the only card to survive, in this case the chance still remains at around 1% thoug... but you just don't build decks for situations of extreme desperation but for "normal" situations, and in those, in 90 % of the cases the card out of your deck will be better than a random spell!
So, when I scroll through all the cards, it is the 6 slot in this set that draws my attention. Obviously they end up getting compared the Emperor Thaurissan and Sylvanas Windrunner. The ones that intrigue me aren't all Legendary.
Kodorider. Initial stats aren't that great, but this card could get WAY out of hand if it survives a couple turns. Can't kill either of the mentioned staples by itself and offers Sylvanas something to steal.
Master Jouster. Kills both Emperor and Sylvanas and survives only to be stolen by Sylvanas, potentially undamaged if it had the Divine Shield.
Sideshow Spelleater. Trades with Emperor and Sylvanas. The ability on this card is crazy! If you play a class who's class ability doesn't scale in to late game well. Copy that Warlock's ability to draw! Then play Justicar Trueheart to not take damage!
The Skeleton Knight. Trades with Emperor and Sylvanas. Lures out Big Game Hunter to make Dr. Boom even more balanced ;). Dies to most 4 drops and some 3s. Has the potential to appear back in your hand! In a top deck war that can win you the game.
Justicar Trueheart. Trades with Emperor and Sylvanas. Dies to 2 drops. Has a lasting impact even after removed.

for me, its chillmaw

Depends what "must have" means to you.

No, there are no must have legendaries from the set. You will be able to play a lot of decks just fine without any of them.
At the moment the only one I think might be usuable in a variety of decks is Nexus Champion Saraad. He has the most potential I think. Only cards for specific decks. I think there are no Dr Boom in this expansion. Maybe Darkbane and Lightbane grills.
I think must have is a Neutral card that gets crazy value and can be slotted in any deck. I haven't noticed that card yet. Perhaps it isn't a legend this time. Nexus-Champion Saraad intrigues me. Well, back to looking at the set.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
Bolf Ramshield + Faceless Manipulator = Rest in Peperonis
I feel the decent cards are Varian Wrynn, Rhonin, The Mistcaller and possibly Aviana for the classes. Saraad, Chillmaw for Dragons, and Valkyr sisters for the neutrals. All the other legendaries seem a little too gimmicky or just not good enough to see any play.

oh man people so easily call what sucks and what not before even playing it.. and then you wonder why they stuck at rank 10 every season
Time is money, friend.

Grand Crusader. He trades even with both and has the potential to give you Tirion Fordring! Sick!
