I have a problem with the mmr points you get when finishing in top 4 , for a win I get a maximum of 113 points. My friend gets 300 points for a win.
I am currently at 4,6k and he is around 6k. We just played a game and i won and got 112 points , he came second and got 196 points :/ is this some kind of bug?
I think perhaps you have played more games than him in total and have a slightly higher lose percentage. That’s the only logical conclusion I could come to.
what was your friends mmr before the reset. I know since it matches with your hidden mmr not your current rating, when I played with my friends that were at 5.5 or 6k I was barely getting points.
What was the point of rating reset? I got back to my exact same rating after a week.
Reclimbing process was not even thrilling, even the worst #8 defeat was -98 points while any top 4 spot was yielding constant 300 points.
Blizzard released a full post explaining how and why they changed it...
"We want our rating system to both provide a sense of progression through gameplay and create fair matchmaking. It’s very hard to achieve these two things simultaneously by using only one rating. Therefore, we designed a “dual-rating” system to address our intention. In the updated rating system, there are two ratings—external rating and internal rating:
External rating: this rating is shown in your Battlegrounds lobby interface. The main purpose of this rating is to provide seasonal “progression”, as well as partially or fully reflect your actual skill.
Internal rating: this rating is invisible to you. The main purpose of this rating is to help us estimate your actual skill atall times and thus create fair matchmaking."
I find it annoying, that the system starts limiting your MMR-gain when you approach the MMR you had before the reset. That's not even really MMR RESET. I mean, if you had grinded to over 10k before the reset, it's easier for you to get back there.
I have to agree with uiasdnmb, the climbing process back to your orginal ranking was ridiccilously easy and then you just hit stone-wall at certain point. It kinda eats you up, when for the first 2 or 3 days you are climbing at the same pace than your favourite streamers , and then you hit your gap at 6k and start gaining +100 for win, but you can see that the streamers are still gaining +300 for win at 9k rating, just because they were orginally over 10k rating. Here's an example, RDU got +300 for 2nd place while at 9062:
When I hit 6k mark, I started gaining only +100 for each win, and a little bit after I had a good streak where I went 1st, 1st, 5th, 1st, 1st, 1st and that got me freaking +500, doesn't really feel fair when you see others still gaining +300 for 2nd at 9000. Don't get me wrong, it's not the streamers fault, I'm not accusing RDU or anything, it's just that the system doesn't really give a fair chance to climb, unless you were allready High Level, making the MMR-reset in itself completely unrelevant. Right now I'm sitting at 7.5k, and I've kinda lost my motivation to even try to climb, because it just takes too much time.
TLDR; the system doesn't really give a fair chance to climb, unless you were allready High Level, making the MMR-reset in itself completely unrelevant.
i was at 7.5k before the reset and now i'm stuck at 5.5k with only getting ~110 for a win and -100 for a loss. Don't really understand why
This is not based on your actual rating pre-reset, but on your hidden mmr. You receive +300 for every top 4 until you reach your "proper" rating - which is not the rating you had before the reset, but an indication of your mmr based on your games played and w/l ratio. You reached a stage you belong to and now you earn proper amounts of points.
according to this system having high points will not necessarily match you with better players. infact loosing a couple of games will gain you much more points in long term

Is that a murloc? Yawn....conceede!
Oh okey, so that is a factor. I have no clue how this mmr system works :)
You start getting less points as you get closer to your rank before the reset I believe, so I'm guessing you were around 5k before elementals.
I was 7.7k before elementals
What was the point of rating reset? I got back to my exact same rating after a week.
Reclimbing process was not even thrilling, even the worst #8 defeat was -98 points while any top 4 spot was yielding constant 300 points.
Piloted Shredder, Knife Juggler, Mad Scientist, Dr. Boom
Need to be removed from this game
