Hi, This is an easy way to beat the Lich King warrior matchup that I completed on my first try. There's yet another exploit with Kel'Thuzad in solo adventure that allows you to force him to not play any cards or attack you while in his frostmourne phase.
You spend the first part of the game trading and trying to draw cards. When he drops the frostmourne, brawl when your board is empty so that only 1 trapped soul remains. From here, just try to armor up and keep yourself alive until you can play Kel'Thuzad + Public defender. He will only attack the defender with the minion, not the Frostmourne. Once your public defender is within death range from the minion, he will stop attacking it. From here, he just mills cards and does nothing every turn. Use this opportunity to draw into your win condition: Scaled Nightmare(s). When you are within lethal range with the Scaled Nightmare, hit your Kel'Thuzad into the last soul and hit the Nightmare into the face for lethal.
The best part about this deck is the versatility. There is no card you need other than public defender + scaled nightmare. You are able to replace the Scaled nightmare with a bunch of different late game High value minions if you don't have it.
I hope you all enjoy the deck and make sure to upvote it if you found it as easy as I did.
Edit: Thanks for the resounding support guys and as i said above, feel free to experiment with different early game cards or win conditions if you don't have Scaled Nightmares if you don't have the ones I have or if you have better ones.
Below you'll find a video of KiwiinBacon playing this deck perfectly. Make sure to check out his other content to see more great videos of cool and interesting decks being showcased.
So this took me 2 tries (Damn you RNGesus). BUT I replaced Fierce Monkey with Platebreaker. LK kept attacking my Defender, so I brought out 2 with KT and I was untouchable. Left Nightmares on board long enough to draw into Platebreaker and when they were strong enough for lethal I killed his last Spirit, summoned Platebreaker and smacked him hard. Thanks for the awesome deck.
Still works great! Win on first try. Thx.
Great deck, although the title isn't exactly right--this match wasn't easy, and it definitely wasn't first try. Like the other Lich King battles, it takes some RNG to get the proper setup in place. The good news is that it's not as ridiculously difficult for Warrior. As others pointed out, Platebreaker is a game changer. I don't have Scaled Nightmare, so I used Shade of Naxxramas instead. It's pretty sweet just hanging out while it grows (instead of getting annihilated like in the other Lich King fights). I know the rinse and repeat can get frustrating, but hang in there. You'll get it eventually!!
Easy, first try.
Platebreaker makes pretty much any minion a win condition. No need for Scaled Nightmare.
Also, Kelthuzud/Public defender exploit still works in 2020 in case anyone is wondering.
I don't know that it's so much an exploit that works. In April 2021, the Lich King whacks whoever has a taunt on it. I got around it by making sure there was a higher threat taunt card for him to whack in addition to the Public Defender until I had my board set up for Stage 3. Kel'Thuzad made sure they both came back to keep it going.
Took me 3 tries due to 1) Didn't read the comments on the bottom (my bad), 2) RNG. Let's face it, if the deck is only going to give you all high cost cards for the first 5 rounds, you're not going to succeed. That being said (not knowing about Platebreaker), I had to craft Bring It On! and a Fierce Monkey. I replaced Justicar Trueheart with Elise the Trailblazer (you can stop laughing now), because I thought they would shuffle cards from the pack into my deck having never used it before. It doesn't. It stuffs a single "pack" card into your deck and when the pack comes up, it dumps several cards into your hand. SMH. In the video, they said put Ysera in for the Nightmares. I used her and Deathwing the Destroyer because those two cards seem to drop pretty easily when you buy a deck (as opposed to being cards you'll NEVER see drop in a deck pack).
When I started and the RNG gave me smaller cards to work with, I was able to get some shielding up and knock down minions through the first half using all the Stage 1 taunt cards and Shield Slam. I saved the two Public Defender cards for Stage 2, and Ysera and Deathwing the Destroyer for Stage 3. I saved my two Brawl cards, one for Stage 2 and the other just in case the Lich King ate my Deathwing the Destroyer or his Val'kyr Shadowguard ran off with something important. Deathwing the Destroyer was always a safety backup in case things got out of hand on the Lich King's side of the board. Just remember, Deathwing the Destroyer will delete EVERYTHING on the board and currently in your hand when you first bring him out. Use with caution.
The thing about Stage 2 is the Lich King has a set of rules he has to stick to. I saw him whack both my Public Defenders down in previous tries. I started Stage 2 using my Brawl card to clear the deck of the line of Trapped Souls except 1. I made sure I put up a Public Defender card and a taunt card with more attack than the Public Defender so the Lich King would attack it and leave the Public Defender for the Trapped Soul to attack. This allowed me to get Ysera and Kel'Thuzad on the board - always making sure I had a higher taunt card on hand. Once you get Kel'Thuzad up, he'll replace the higher taunt card the Lich King kills off so it's there for him on the next turn. I made sure I put the Emerald Drake cards that popped out of Ysera to the left of my board.
The Lich King can't put any more minions on the board during Stage 2, so his hand will fill up with them. The object is to keep the Trapped Soul alive until you have filled the Lich King's hand full of minions. Yes he will take some of your high level cards you put up on the board with Obliterate if it shows up in his hand, but once his hand is full of minions he burns off all his other cards because his hand is full.
Once you have gone through all the cards that raise your shield number up (it's as high as it's going to get without Hero Power) and you have your board stacked with Emerald Drakes or whatever high level cards you have, you can use one of the Dream cards to send that last Trapped Soul back to the Lich King's hand (it will die of course since there is no room left in his hand now) and Stage 3 begins.
If I had known better, I would have played Platebreaker and it would have been over a LOT quicker, but I didn't know about it so it took a little while. Kel'Thuzad replaced the things that were destroyed so it allowed me to FINALLY kill the Lich King and get my free Knights of The Frozen Throne card pack.
Now that I know better, I'm going to see what I can do with the other classes. I never made it past Stage 2 with the others due to trying to get rid of all but one Trapped Soul. With Brawl being so perfect for this maneuver, it will be interesting. I'm also out of dust so I can't make any other cards I'm missing. If only I had a fairy Godmother to put Blizzard gift cards under my pillow at night. *sigh*
Made a mistake with my Kel and used him to clear one of the frozen souls. When the public defender got down to 1 he used the soul on it and then frostmourned Kel to death and then I lost :( here we go one more time!
Yes, this is still working, Thanks!
I swap most of the epic cards in this deck except Scaled Nightmare and [Brawl with other armor cards to save dust, then craft Kel'Thuzad. I also add Platebreaker to destroy his armor
8/21/2019 Had a few different cards like you said but your right,Kel'Thuzad+ 2 Scaled Nightmare's + Public Defender worked great only took like 7 rolls. Thank you.
This deck is still the boss!
Did not work, the minion killed my Public Defender and then LK frostmourne'd my KT. Three or four more turns later the same thing happened. KT died, bug fixed, game resumed as normal. I heroically survived into deep fatigue, taking double damage each turn (from his hero power and from having no cards) + Scaled nightmare was my last two cards, both got killed - super unlucky.
Edit: Worked on the second try! Exact same strategy except this time LK frostmourne'd my Public Defender each turn, killing it with the 1 minion on board. Thanks to KT resummon, I took no damage. Was able to scale my nightmare up to 256 and smack! Thank you.
Note to self.
Read guide before trying 10 times and failing every. single. time...
Probably one of the more realistic "first try" decks on here.
This still works! thanks!
really easy first try thx you
Totally awesome Deck Ty beat him first try
Superb deck.
I only had one Scaled Nightmare, so I used a Shade of Naxxramas instead.
i used the even version instead

its easier to survive early game thanks to 1 mana hero power
it's worked. Thanks. I've spent almost a year to complete this adventure. After I used all the murloc to clear other class, Warrior just seems impossible to do after countless tried.
Lol 37 attack on micro machine means at least 37 turns have elapsed, which means you are super close to turn 45 where you auto-lose the game due to turn limit.
