I've always loved the idea of crusher shaman, but I've never had the Shaman cards to play it with....until now! After playing quite a bit of wild control Shaman, I finally caved and crafted some earth elementals which is a huge key to making Crusher Shaman work. The current list you see should work incredibly well against jade druid and has the powerful taunts, healing, and AOE to deal with swarm decks. The deck is also pretty flexible so this list will change with time.
So, I've been playing this deck quite a bit and I love it! Black Knight usage, while still fairly high for a tech card, seems to have gone down in my more recent games and it makes for much more powerful swing turns. I've also seen very few Miracle Rogues which helps get rid of one of the worst matchups for the deck. All of these factors have real helped this deck shine. I can't speak for the whole ladder though, so if you happen to see these techs, decks or any polymorph effect regularly for whatever reason, this deck may not be as effective for you.
I also have one version that leans a bit more anti aggro for the end of the season Pirate Warrior/aggro druid push that always seems to happen that just loses a few of the bigger pieces (-1 fire elemental, -1 snowfury giant) in order to add in 2 doomsayers. These doomsayers help you get to your big taunts in these matchups and help you snowball certain turns a bit easier. I got rid of a snowfury giant because of the slow nature of the card, but I think it is still one of the better cards in the deck against jade. If you face these decks and jade, +1 doomsayer and -1 fire elemental can also work really well.
I will likely be attempting my first in depth guide for the deck the following season. Since a lot of this season was spent experimenting, I don't feel like I have a good enough grasp of every matchup to make the full mulligan guide or to post matchup stats, but hopefully after another season, this will be easy enough. If anyone in the community gives this deck a try, please feel free to share your experiences. Wish me luck.
Update 1.1: Removed curator package. It was too clunky and burrloc wasn't as impactful as I would have liked. Primordial drake is still quite solid though so I kept the one copy. -1 Curator, -2 burrloc
Update 1.2: Draw was an issue. Relying on spirit echo for draw wasn't working too well, so I cut 1 spirit echo and added in some more reliable draw. -1 spirit echo, +2 mana tide totem +1 Bloodmage Thalnos
Update 1.3: Drakari Defender wasn't as good as I had hoped. -1 Drakari defender +2 mana tide totem.
Update 2.1: Fire Elemental helps us put pressure on decks like Jade Druid a bit more easily and we don't particularly like to drake away our totems in a lot of matchups. -1 primordial drake +1 Fire Elemental
Anyway, feel free to try to fix any changes, I will be updating as needed.
I'm not entirely sure if I get the deck heading. What do you mean by crusher? Also why would you not play Faceless Manipulators when you are using Earth Elemental + Ancestral Spirit?
Crusher Shaman relates to the snowballing nature of the deck. When you win, you win with boards of giant creatures and seemingly dominate. I didn't come up with the name though.
As for why I'm not using Faceless Manipulators, it's because the card is a little too slow and combo oriented. While this is ok when taking on Jade Druid, it isn't anyway near strong enough against aggro and mid range. If all you are facing is Jade Druid, feel free to add it in, but I had been facing a lot of aggro and wasn't keen on making things tough against aggro druid and pirate warrior.
The destruction of the Pirate Warrior archetype is at hand. The nerfs to the Fiery Win-Axe will be quite a devastating blow especially in Standard ladder.
For sure. And I will change the deck accordingly when the time comes. It's hard to say how the meta will shape up though. If priest becomes more popular because of the changes, Faceless will likely find it's way into my list. If Hunter becomes more popular, I'll likely keep the double doomsayer package. If Warlock becomes popular, I will likely add in a devolve or something.
