DECK LIST UPDATED 10/3/2016
Hello! My name is Lyme, I'm a streamer, deck builder & dolphin trainer. I'm back with my "Standard Mode" rendition of my popular OTK priest! With a couple key cards from the new expansion, this deck was given a boost in power in exchange for some defensive capability. So let's begin....
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
With the addition of Embrace the Shadow, this deck is now capable of 60+ damage 1 turn combos. Primarily, your focus each turn should be on cycling as much as possible, and secondly on keeping the board clean. Tracking your current damage throughout the game is a must (keep in mind that Prophet Velen also essentially doubles with any spell damage added). This is ideal for players that love a difficult to master yet powerful and viable combo deck.
STRATEGY
- Early game: Draw cards, and set up for big board clears if necessary. Using your cards to cycle 2 / 3 cards per turn means you are playing the deck correctly EG: Wild Pyromancer into (spell) into Circle of Healing with a cleric on the board, or Wild Pyromancer w/any spell and Acolyte of Pain up.
- Mid / End Game: If you can get at least three of the key cards in your hand (Prophet Velen,Mind Blast, Flash Heal, Smite, Auchenai Soulpriest, Embrace the Shadow) it's time to Emperor Thaurissan.
- The exception to this rule is Control Warriors, the game will be slower, so saving Emperor Thaurissan until you have Double Flash, Double Mind Blast, Thalnos, Embrace & possibly a smite in hand is ideal. The most damage I've done with this combo in one turn for lethal was ~66, and my opponent almost surely uninstalled after.
If you are facing an aggro deck, saving cards for an OTK is not usually the way to win, but rather using everything you have to clear the board and stay alive. Part of the reason this deck is great is the versatility, as you can use your healing spells as damage or to bring you back to full OR clear the board. Be aware of what you are against and if you'll need to save spells to survive. An example would be using mind blast to proc a pyromancer aoe, or a flash heal to heal yourself with Velen up.
MATCHUPS & MULLIGANS
-
WARRIOR - Acolyte of Pain, Loot Hoarder, Gnomish Inventor, Harrison Jones, Northshire Cleric; This has always been the most difficult matchup. With the addition of Embrace the Shadow, you should actually be able to combo the warrior down from 60+HP. Draw as much as possible, and SAVE Emperor Thaurissan until you have almost all possible damage spells. It helps greatly to get Bloodmage Thalnos in your emperor turn, as he can add ~10 damage to your combo.
-
MAGE - Keep any draw, Wild Pyromancer, Smite, Power Word: Shield; If it's freeze mage, it's a pretty easy matchup, just save your heals for yourself with a velen combo. Against tempo, just make sure to clear efficiently, as they typically will try to bait you into using aoe on one minion. Against tempo you're perfectly fine to use yourFlash Heal to heal yourself or combo pyromancer.
-
Paladin - Keep any draw, Wild Pyromancer, Smite, Power Word: Shield ; Paladins seem to be pretty easy to handle. Against nzoth, go ahead and draw for about 25 damage before you Emperor Thaurissan. Against aggro, pulling pyromancer and using your spells aggressively is the way to win.
-
Shaman - Keep any draw, Wild Pyromancer, Smite, Power Word: Shield Keep Circle of Healing if you have Embrace the Shadow or Auchenai Soulpriest in your hand; Not too difficult, Harrison is a key card here if you can read they are running a Doomhammer list. Using circle of healing in conjunction with wild pyromancer and northshire cleric to draw 3-5 cards instead of clear the board is completely ok in this matchup. The more you draw, the better chance you have of beating their tempo.
-
Rogue: Keep Harrison Jones, Loot Hoarder, Gnomish Inventor, Bloodmage Thalnos, Shadow Word: Death; You are simply trying to draw your combo pieces before he can unload. Saving pyro AOE or circle of healing AOE for their Goblin can be wise if it's turn 5 or 6, unless you can use them to draw 2-3 cards which is always preferred.
-
Priest: Keep all cards with draw mechanics; This is a very easy matchup typically. Priests are slow enough to allow you to amass a huge combo into your thaurissan. Just stay alive and give them a nice surprise. You can and SHOULD be greedy with your spells and clears in this matchup, unless they are pressuring you extremely hard.
-
Hunter - Keep any draw, Wild Pyromancer, Smite, Power Word: Shield Harrison Jones ; Can be difficult if it's midrange. Try and draw as quickly as possible and saving aoe at the expense of taking damage is important, as they have many high value cards later on that need to be dealt with. You're likely to need to heal yourself with spells here, which is fine because you've got more than enough damage to take them down without your flash heals.
-
Druid - Keep any draw, Wild Pyromancer, Smite, Power Word: Shield Shadow Word: Death; With the Druid nerfs, this matchup became significantly easier. The game should go long enough to draw a pretty large combo, thaurissan is OK even with one mind blast here, as most druid decks will lack any healing and you'll want to keep tempo up.

You are joking right? "but if you have only made rank 6 non legend and I'm consistently top 100, I'd say my understanding of the game exceeds yours. " dude... learn to read, secondly: "2- Your decklist is almost an exact mirror of the one I posted previously, you likely copied it considering your skill level. That got over 200k+ views and was featured, also has multiple videos of me playing it past rank 6 to legend (where you apparently got stuck), which also tells me you had no idea how to pilot that deck either. " How dare you say that i copied your deck?! it's my version created long ago after 2 months from LoE release. You are full of crap man - prove me your grind from rank 1(1star) to legend with this deck of yours. The fun part is this when you dont know what are you talking about: "You listed some matchups that are so incredibly easy for this deck to beat" , go play this deck against aggro shaman with so little board clears and no taunt to stall the game - GL and BTW my lowest rank was rank 4(3 stars)
Can you stop trolling please? it's clear you have no idea what you are talking about and it's borderline harassment now. Go look at my other decklist (the one you ironically copied and posted as your own). It shows me piloting the deck from rank 2 to legend with a 80% win rate on my youtube channel. You said you got stuck at rank 6, right? So why are you still pretending you're superior to me? And why do you even care?
Aggro shaman should be so incredibly easy... With the wild pyromancer, double circle, double aoe clear, and sooo many spells + harrison to counter, how is it even possible you're losing against that? I'm not going to respond to another one of your troll posts. Especially if you haven't even hit legend... Like why are you even pretending you know what you are talking about? Go away, or wait for me to upload the videos. You're posts are utterly pointless, only meant to troll, and have all been reported.
I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but you are especially annoying.
The drama here, i was wondering, if you face aggroshaman and you never draw any aoe, then what? :P cuz my RNG is like the worst of anyone playing any game in history, i rarely draw any kind of aoe when i need it :P i hate my life
Hey lyme! Welcome to the front page of hearthstone where people will give you shit, ruin your deck and shit on everyone who supports you just because they are jealous and have nothing to do with their lives. Your deck looks great and I appreciate your guide since I know myself how hard it is to make one. Hope your deck reaches the right people and they will give you credit you deserve
Haha yeah its a little how strange that those three accounts came and upvoted eachother and downvoted all of my posts. It's fine though, my last list had over 200k views. I'll throw some videos up of playing the deck @ legend rank. Thanks for the comment my man.
inconsistent deck
all classes rekt this
*edit*
Why downvote? this deck is inconsistent af - you only rely on 1 card! Hunters mostly screw you on turn 8-9, Warriors are outmatched for this deck because of armor up, rogues burst you to 0 in no time, tempo mages rekt this deck by turn 6 when you have no removal in hand and 10 hp left, cthun decks are flooding you with high value minions, nzoth paladins by turn 7 are flooding your board with deathrattle minions easy to revive later on.... and on top of that there is a very very small chance to draw all pieces of combo with emperor to discount this - its usually all pieces without emperor or velen, or the other way round - velen and emperor in hand but without the rest....
....and the fucking clickbait title "top 5 legend" bullshit dude... you got legend using other decks that are consistent and meta-dependant like zoo, tempo or aggro, and won like 2 or 3 matches when you already reched legend with aforementioned decks so pls dont bullshit me and other people because it is not a competitive deck and FFS dont downvote this comment because i am telling the truth.
I'll give you mine version of this deck which was kind of okay-ish before WoTOG release - ive played it so many times on ladder and made from rank 15 to 6 - and it was maximum because the deck couldnt handle more consistent decks on ladder and on top of that it had 2 deathlords and 2 lightbombs to deal with board control of your opponents, so you could stall a little bit and survive couple of turns more
I couldn't have put it better myself, thanks man for your support. Thank god there are still some "thinking" people out there.
The fact that you weren't able to catch the glaring sarcasm in my "dolphin trainer" business, is too funny. Upvoted.
The decks not for everyone, you don't have to pray for good draw when almost every single card in your deck draws. Don't worry, I've played it to legend 5 seasons in a row, including the decklist above that your friend copied from my page that had 200k+ views. Plenty of videos to come.
"I've played it to legend 5 seasons in a row, including the decklist above that your friend copied from my page that had 200k+ views. Plenty of videos to come." this is the dumbest accusation ever! and dont make me a fool and fool other people you reached legend with this deck 5 seasons in a row because that is some serious bullshit! Jesus Christ..... no comment
Just because you are incapable of even hitting legend, doesn't mean players that arent terrible can't either. I've posted multiple videos in past seasons playing it far past legend with insane win rates. You couldn't pass rank 6... Please stop embarrassing yourself.
Haha I think we've got a couple trolls down voting all the useful posts. Thanks for the comment! It seems like you understand how it plays.
Does this deck actually have enough board clears to stay alive? I feel like 1 of each AOE is light, especially when you can't really use Embrace to clear because you need it to combo. I may be wrong. Just curious.
Yeah, the whole deck basically relies on winning with velen, but it's got more draw than any deck I've played to make up for that. Thanks for the comment and glad you're enjoying it!
I haven't honestly noticed that, I've had no problems drawing velen. There are multiple ways to win depending on the matchup. Aggro decks usually don't require velen as a win condition, control usually isn't an issue because it's so slow you can draw every piece you need.
Lyme, I loved the original version of your deck when I was a bit more inexperienced, took it even with me to tournaments giving me close to winning it all.
I've tried myself to update it to standard, but failed unfortunately. I'll definitely try out this version and let you know how it goes as before!
Oh yeah, you forgot the warlock mulligan, it seems.
Edit: will try ranking up, currently from rank 13, will track my W/L-ratio.
Thanks! I'll put that up, let me know how it goes. I'm going to finish the guide this week. :)
I have only one very important question: are you really a dolphin trainer?
Absolutely
So I was trying the deck today and it`s not very consistent. I was able to pull of the combo 2 times, while on the other hand losing 4 games due to weak minions and too few AoE possibilites.
Managed to record the second game where I used to OTK a tempo mage (funny enough both wins were against Tempo Mage): Gameplay video
