Introduction
Hey everyone, I'm TheToxicNuke. You may remember me from my front-page Ramp Druid guide way back when Naxx came out. Now it's no secret that our favourite class bit the bullet kinda hard when in comes to the recent nerfs to classic cards. However, I happen to believe that a little corruption will keep Druid as (old) godly as ever.
Keep in mind that the main deck listed here is the framework for the deck (which does work quite well), but there are a few changes you can make to potentially have more success.
General
My experience with this deck has been absolutely absurdly positive, and for good reason. A C'Thun-centric deck does all of the things Druid loves: stays present on the board with decent minions until it drops its big friends, and delays for a ridiculous and game winning turn. Our ramp (Innervate, Wild Growth, and now the new Mire Keeper) helps extraordinarily with that first bit, allowing us to drop those big guys way earlier than we should be allowed, and we're able to delay our death while maintaining a serious board thanks to Druid's insane taunts long enough to crush them with a bunch of eyeballs.
Even if your C'Thun gets removed after its insane board clear and face damage, you have more than enough big guys in your deck to finish your opponent off. That's not to mention the insane possibilities with Doomcaller, as if just one of our favourite Old God wasn't already enough.
In theory this deck has excellent match-ups against all archetypes. Against control you can just overwhelm them with your generally decent minions. Against midrange you're not going to fall behind as it's so easy to play on curve with this deck (this is where Klaxxi Amber-Weaver really shines), and odds are your endgame minions are bigger than theirs. Against aggro it'll be tough for them to even touch your face since you have so many big taunts in Crazed Worshipper, Dark Arakkoa, Twin Emperor Vek'lor, and even a taunted C'Thun via Twilight Geomancer. Enough said.
Card Alternatives
Let's just get a few things out of the way. A lot of people are singing their praises about Brann Bronzebeard in C'Thun decks, and while obviously some spectacular stuff can occur with this, more often than not it's just going to be a lame body giving your C'Thun unnecessary extra buffs. The only cards Brann actually combos with are C'Thun, Twin Emperor Vek'lor (both of which are very rarely going to occur), and Disciple of C'Thun, which will happen pretty often but two extra damage on a three mana card is a pretty marginal increase in power to warrant an inclusion in your deck.
After some thought I've come to the conclusion that in such a C'Thun-heavy meta Sylvanas Windrunner is the perfect denial card. After a lot of experience in a mirror match up, I can confidently say that you're going to win 99.9% of the games in which you drop C'Thun before your opponent. If you have an empty board on turn 9 just slap down this lovely lady and you can practically hear your opponent weeping. But don't be afraid of playing her out if it means keeping up tempo as she'll almost always get at least a two for one.
The 6 drop slot as a whole is one with a lot of options, but of course you always want both Dark Arakkoa in there because that card is stupid good. The other two can be any combination of Ancient Harbinger, The Black Knight, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Skeram Cultist based on personal preference.
If you're facing mostly extreme aggro decks (Face Paladin/Hunter), consider replacing Nourish with a Twilight Geomancer.
Mulligans
Mulligans are pretty straightforward with this deck but sometimes do require a bit of discretion.
Against aggro: Innervate, Wild Growth (if you don't have a 2-drop, Wrath, Beckoner of Evil, Disciple of C'Thun, Twilight Elder, and Swipe. If you already have an Innervate, C'Thun's Chosen, Klaxxi Amber-Weaver, Mire Keeper, and Crazed Worshipper can be kept. Don't hold back a Klaxxi Amber-Weaver for the buff, a 4/5 is good enough against aggro.
Against midrange/control: It's just important that you curve out well. Keep Innervate, Wild Growth, and base your hand around playing something every turn on curve. You can be a little more greedy with your Klaxxi Amber-Weavers if it's not urgent that you play them and you already have a board presence.
Innervate + Twilight Elder wins games!

Im gonna have to retract this statement... this deck is currently 1-6 for me.
EVERY SINGLE OPPONENT currently is drawing perfect mulligans and plays everything on curve every single game...
Ancient harbinger and no brann? Who did you pay to get legend?
Trumps deck with -1 emperor and +1 nourish is 10 times better than this trash. As expected, I dropped from rank 8 to rank 10 with this. With trumps deck, I went from rank 13 to rank 4 in a total of 6 hours last season.
Well, that isn't the decks fault. I went from rank 5 to 4 pretty easily with the same deck that "caused" you to drop from 8 to 10. I wonder where the issue is? Maybe... you played it wrong.
Toxic, i am enjoying this thank you sir.
Awesone deck, didnt face chaman yet but zoolock struggle against it,control c'thun decks too.
Some remplacement i did :
- Ancient Harbinger
- x2 Mire Keeper
- Twilight Elder
+ ×2 Azure Drake spell buff, card draw, force trade, found it realy usefull
+ Brann Bronzebeard combo buff it force trade
+ Spellbreaker realy needed in this deck
For Nourish sometimes its usefull, sometimes not didnt find a real attractive ramplacement.
So promising deck but i want know are brann bronzebeard and doomcaller can fit into these deck? Just feel missing something.
But overall it's boom! So great deck. Thanks for the awesome deck
Awesome decklist! I was able to successfully climb from 11 to rank 5 with over 90% winrate. The one loss I had was a mirror matchup where the other druid went first and curved out better. The star of the show was definitely Twin Emperor Vek'lor. It is amazing how hard it is for most classes to deal with that guy once you drop him. In total, I only got to play C'thun about 3 times. You mostly just out-tempo your opponent with your big dudes and they tend to not have answers after removing one or two of them. I also didn't have too much problem with holding off on Klaxxi Amber-Weaver when it wasn't activated, often waiting an extra turn or two to drop it, just as the guide states. My most dead cards were Sylvanas Windrunner and Nourish. I never had issues with ramp/card draw and always had better stuff to play than Sylvanas Windrunner.
Made one edit to the decklist before playing:
-1 Ancient Harbinger
+1 Brann Bronzebeard
Edit:
Made some further card revisions
-1 Sylvanas Windrunner
+1 Ancient of War
Also testing out
-1 Mire Keeper
+1 Defender of Argus
lol
If you wind up lying on the floor after roughly six shots, you should probably avoid drinking to begin with... or just get better at it. Having said that... I just crafted the deck, and I am going to take a shot per Sylvanas Windrunner in your honor. I will get back to you with the results shortly if I am not sleeping on my kitchen floor. Wish me luck!
Edit: Due to not wanting to wind up sober, I am going to start drinking in between games as well. Zero Sylvanas Windrunner through two games, but I am 2-0... though I did just miss my mulligan, so back to it I go!
Edit #2: Finished 5-1 (and yep, the one loss was when I missed the mulligan stage to complain about not drinking enough). Unfortunately, I ran into zero Sylvanas Windrunner, so I am far more sober than I was hoping to be. If you prefer your drinking games to mirror very light social drinking, then this is the drinking game for you.
As for the deck, it seemed solid. I was playing on the 18ish range of ranked (didn't play a lot of ladder last month) so it isn't the best barometer. I did take out a Twilight Elder for Brann Bronzebeard before playing... not entirely sure if it truly makes it better, but I'll be damned if it isn't more fun. I also think I am going to sub in Doomcaller for Ancient Harbinger moving forward.
I think your best bet would be to maybe include Azure Drake and hope for a hail Mary Swipe with them.
I love this deck, playing it with 1 Brann. Only losses to aggro Shaman with stupid starts (t1 coin Totem Golem, T2 Tunnel Trogg, T3 Tunnel Trogg + Totem Golem, ggwp lol.), or when you get stuck with 5+ drops for the first few turns :/
I am wondering if Brann Bronzebeard could be fitted into the deck. A 4/15 Klaxxi Amber-Weaver is pretty good and it combines well with most C'thun cards anyway.
Why isn't Doomcaller [/card]in here in the first place?
I switched out the [card]Ancient of War as I do have the feeling that C'thun is a very good win condition.
I agree, definitely Doomcaller is better. Ancient of War has no place in this deck since we already got a shit ton of big taunts, getting a silenceable 5/10 taunt for 7 mana is just too risky. Twin Emperor is a much better deal. Having a doomcaller means you can potentially play C'thun twice in those control games, helps a lot against control warrior, since one C'thun can barely scratch his armor.
not amazing I would say, there's a reason why zoo and shamans are dominating the ladder now... omg bliz...
The problem is zoo now hits face, becoming a true aggro deck if they have the 1-5 smethg shireman (council shiremen i think) card on the board. And face shaman, well not much to say about that. The worst aggro deck, nzoth hunter. That thing is fking cancer. He hits face every turn without trading cause of his now high value death rattle minions and then they play nzoth. IT'S FKING RIDICULOUS. The synergy of the beats+ slyvanas, princess huhuran, savannah highmane, the infested wolves and the 8 mana summon all companions. You just cant remove them especially when they even run early minions with high attack value. IT'S FKING CANCER I TELL YA, FCK U BLIZZARD.
Replacement for Sylvanas Windrunner and Ancient of War?
Sylvanas Windrunner for Doomcaller
both of that cards is situational, but having doomcaller for 100% chance to get c'thun back is good, especially you will using this card on late game which mean your deck only have 10> cards left
for Ancient of War i'll add some fatass removal such as big fat hunter or neutralize in for just in case situation (since this deck is lack of big minion removal)
or maybe you can add nourish too for extra drawing
Thank you for this deck - it is so much fun winning with two Twin Emperor Vek'lors and a 27-damage C'Thun bomb :-)
I could not agree more, glad you're enjoying yourself!
Awesome deck dude! what do you think about including Doomcaller in this deck?
