Currently rank 5 with it, 20-0.
Not refined at all, Al'Akir would probably fit well here but i don't have it..
46 wins 6 losses atm.
Just started on NA at rank 12 with this deck. -1 Doomhammer/+ Al'Akir, i'll report back in a bit.
Currently sitting in rank 9 with it, 13-3, 79.6% WR. There really is no place for Al'Akir in this deck/meta i think, most of the time it's just a dead card in hand from my experience. I crafted Doomhammer and it felt immediately better, like it was a completely different deck.
Trying out - 1 Zombie Chow, -1 Mana Tide Totem / +2 Lava Burst
*update* 25/03 Well, just helped a friend pilot the deck to rank 5 on EU, after having some hard time getting out of rank 7 he eventually found a win streak to what is his highest achieved rank to the date. After trying out some changes we finally settled on -1 Mana Tide Totem / +1 Lava Burst for that extra burst damage.
I'm not exactly sure what to say. I'm happy that your deck is blowing up and that it seems to be popular but after revisiting it again, I have to say I am disappointed with the results. It's like I woke up in Looney Toons and I can't believe what I'm seeing.
I am mainly a Shaman exclusive player when it comes to Ranked play and my favorite archetypes so far have been Totem and Aggro Shaman. Most of my time playing Shaman, I grew to understand the little nuances. On top of which I realised too late that it has no true deck archetype. Trying to play Totem Shaman by the end of November and December was blasphemy. We were lucky that aggro Shaman came along and found use for cards that would never have been used before. Some people call it cancer Shaman for their own reasons, but it is not a completely solid deck. Like with any other aggro focused deck--getting the right cards can make all the difference. The same is for this deck but it is just slower.
It might be my playstyle. I enjoy being ahead in the early game and gaining tempo in the midgame, while being able to make actual choices of what I'd like to play in the late game. So many times playing this totem Shaman I came to decisions out of desperation. I like the concept of totem Shaman, always have and always will, but even a madman can see that this type of deck is not well rounded and it's purpose is muddled.
Shaman has always had this problem and I'm hoping from what I am seeing that WotOG has more solutions as I like what I'm seeing. But playing totem Shaman without the new cards without standard being released is like sticking my dick in a blender. I really really don't want to do it.
While playing this deck you get extremely shit on by aggressive decks that have good card draw. It's midrange without answers to better archetypes that are true and tested. This deck would probably be under TIer 4 decks on TempoStorm.com™ if lower tiers existed. I've only gotten to rank 5 before during the height of Aggro Shaman. Now it seems Aggro Shaman is being kicked to the wayside (albeit with a little longer lifespan than Totem Shaman when tgt came out).
Now I made a comment a week or two ago that was taken a bit by storm and I am going against the grain here. While I do enjoy playing this deck and it has its merits it falls apart quickly. There are either situations where you curve really well and have an answer or two to respond to things. Other Midrange decks or specialized decks seem to shit on it though. While not every matchup I found myself utterly helpless, I definitely was not getting a positive winrate. I got bodied by a Tempo Mage, Midrange Druid, Secret Paladin, Zoolock, and even Oil Rogue. Along with many, many aggressive decks that kicked me in the teeth and left me nothing to pursue but a flimsy defense. Your opponent (with a higher tier deck) ends up hindering any proactive decision you want to make and always seems to be one step ahead of you.
These are my thoughts on the matter and I hope you will be respectful about it. Being that this is the internet though, I do not have faith that my sentiments will be treated with any reverence.
If you could make changes to this deck, what would you change?
If I'm being honest I don't know how to change any cards without playing with set changes and testing it out for myself. I don't like zombie chow and adding a lava burst doesn't seem to help with burst damage if you end up using it for removal.
I think it needs another hex but against aggro decks that doesn't help. And against control decks the lightning storms don't seem to help.
So I decided to put in Jeweled Scarab to replace zombie chow. It is really nice if you have no three drop or to get that extra 3 mana class card.
If I am really being honest Totem Shaman just doesn't have any kick to it. Azure Drakes don't make sense with just 4 different damage spells but this type of deck is mid range that requires the card draw. Doomhammer + rockbiters are more potent in aggro shaman. Bloodlust also sometimes works, but doesn't always present itself with good options. And trying to use Thunder Bluff Valiant, Fire Elemental, and Dr. Boom can be difficult if you keep using cards that overload 2 mana.
I replaced Dr Boom with Windlord and it works out great, I don't lose games because of BGH anymore and I replaced 1 lighting storm with 1 Elemental destruction for the control decks. I reached rank 4 pretty easy last season and I think It could climb to legend also but very slow.(had like 55-60 % win rate so I didn't bother )
Extremely well said. I also like Shaman as a class, but it just don't have enough 'oomph' to it to push it to higher competitive tiers.
As for the deck, it works well a good portion of the time, but big board clears can lose the game. You definitely have to know not to over-commit on the board.
Amazing deck! Went from rank 17 to 10 extremely fast, big thumbs up!
This deck is working awesomely for me at around rank 13...lots of fun and everyone expects it to be burst and plays accordingly...
87% winrate my ass. Stop plucking numbers out the sky to try and get people to like your shitty decks.
Why do you dislike him? He is right and you know it!
Made some mods. There's almost no overload cards, this already has a lot of early game stuff, and quite frankly tunnel troggs are targeted enough as it is. The only situation this deck has where they're useful is trogg coin feral spirit which is way too gimmicky in my opinion. Where this deck shines is in the heavy mid game pressure, so I don't think it's worth taking them for even MORE early game when you could take mid game power.
Also found I was winning games with my board presence and didn't draw bloodlust once over 12 games. Won 10 of them. Bloodlust really feels like a "win more" card which doesn't really fit this deck. If this deck gets that much on the bard to make good use of it, the deck's likely already going to win anyway.
Also dropped a lightning storm. Only useful around rank 20 with all the aggro decks. For the most part though we're in a control meta where 2 of these don't really fit. If you want 2 aoe's, taking an elemental overload is better right now.
In the end swaps were -1 lightning storm, -2 tunnel trogg, -1 bloodlust
+1 Crackle (Might swap to lava burst, probably not) for more removal and burst options, +1 fireguard destroyer for midgame, +1 lava burst for removal/burst, +1zombie chow for early game

This deck is mediocre and will drown against better deck... *cough* secret *Cough* paladin
Played against a double mysterious challenger secret paladin. Had an okay mulligan. Ruined his life. Azure drake just prior to his mysterious challenger into lava burst for instant win. gg crushed.
Imagine this deck with the new Thing From Below card
Thanks so much this deck helped me reach ranked 8 yesterday in 2 hours from ranked 12 but I make a change a bit I -1 Zombie Chow then add Feral Spirit instead it's work very well
What about The Mistcaller, do you belive he and Al´Akir the Windlord would fit good in this deck?
maaaybe in the dream land of control meta..those cards are just too slow for the current state of the game.
Fuck, I'd love to play with The Mistcaller but I would only do it in a heavy control deck with lots of healing and card draw. Along with his friend: Brann Bronzebeard
thank you for the deck, I reached rank 4 yesterday with about 70% win rate at ranks 5-10 and 80% at 10 +.
Most of the games were won by Bloodlust or Thunder Bluff Valiant and only a few games with Doomhammer + rock , because I needed to use it as an early removal .
I am used playing CW where I have a ton of removal and here I just have an Earth Shock and a Hex.. really tempted to used them all the time but if you play vs a Paladin you need to save them, for Druid also.
I played all games with tracker so I have the stats for anyone interested
Win rates are meaningless people. This is a pretty standard midrange shaman list, slanting more to the totem theme. It gets wrecked by zoo, paladin, and priest. It does well against druid, control warrior, and tempo mage. Freeze mage is favored unless shaman can draw into doomhammer on curve or the freeze mage doesn't play around bloodlust. Aggro shaman is slightly favored. You won't get a winning record with this deck below rank 5 if the meta isn't filled with druids, warriors or mages. If you are facing a lot zoo or secret paladin this deck will tank.
I used this to go rank 5 + and I can tell you the chances to win the game :
Vs Freeze 0% I lost 2/2. He won't let you build a board for bloodlust, you can`t use the hex or earthshock for a doomsayer..
Vs Warrior : 100% Just act as a face smorc, he will use a shield slam on your 0/2 taunt totem and all of his weapon charges to kill your crap. When he's out of removals (especially his 2 brawls go with thunder bluff and win the game )
Vs Paladin : 60-70 % . Zombie Chow , Tunnel Trogg and Totem golem trades with shielded minibot and might also survive. Enough said.
