Mulligans:
Backstab, 1Deadly Poison, Goblin Auto-Barber, SI:7 Agent (2 if u have coin), Earthen Ring Farseer, 1Fan of Knives, Preparation if u have any spell to follow up and need the tempo
Gameplan:
1. Try to reduce the enemy early board state as much as u can
2. Try to get turn 4 Preparation, Sprint
3. Combo Lethal
Tipps&Tricks:
Southsea Deckhand only has charge WHILE u have a weapon equipped and should only be used as a finisher or a worst case clear.
Try to keep 1 Deadly Poison for Assassin's Blade it gives u an insane midgame powerspike.
Violet Teacher is the key midgame-board-pressure card. When your aiming for lethal it can be reasonable to sacrifice it so the apprentice wont fuck up your Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
Try to use max. 1 Blade Flurry for early removal because this is your winning conditions (This doesnt count for aggro decks such as pally where its enough if u just outvalue him and win on the long run)
Against Patrons combo druid freeze mages etc make sure u save Loatheb to stop their combos.
Examples:
1.Patron warrior sets up turn 4 Death's Bite so he will follow up turn 5 with Grim Patron and Inner Rage ending with 4 patrons countering it with Loatheb he ends with 2 and potentially even trades the 5/1 so u only need to deal with 1
2.Freeze mage has Ice Block in play and sets Alexstrasza on u Loatheb will make him a max dmg of 14 with Fire Ball and Alexstrasza so u get 1 more turn to pop Ice Block maybe even clear Alexstrasza and follow up with lethal the following turn.
3. Drood gets into Lethal range u can deny his combo with Loatheb in the same second he also wins u board control and practicly gives u 2 more turns to get your combo stuff together
Matchups:
Patron - avg/easy
Control Warrior - Hard
Aggro Pally - avg/easy
Midrange Pally - avg/easy
Combo Drood - avg
Taunt Drood - avg/Hard
Priests - usually easy unless they get insane combos on deathloards and u cant answer
Face Hunter - avg
Midrange Hunter - avg/Hard
Handlock - easy
Zoo - avg
variations of DemonLocks - avg/easy
Substitutes
even tho Bloodmage Thalnos is a key card in any rogue deck many low budget players cant afford it. u can substitute it with Shiv keep in mind that Fan of Knives looses a lot of value and u might want to substitute it aswell
Violet Teacher pretty much equals Piloted Shredder so swap them the way u like
Goblin Auto-Barber took the spot of a 4-Drop in my deck creation so either throw in a Violet Teacher, Piloted Shredder or even Edwin VanCleef if u feel confident enough. Its just that u often waste too many cards trying to get value out of it or he just grows too big and is immediately silenced or BGH'd.
I concider Southsea Deckhand a key card in this deck as finisher but if u think u rather need more consistent early board pressure swap it with any 2-.3- or 4-Drop
Many people argue the use of Assassin's Blade its just personal prefference in this case it gives a nice power spike and increases the value of your buffs a lot can be removed by adding 4-Drops most likely
[TGT]
i replaced Assassin's Blade and Earthen Ring Farseer
Playtesting by Khristophesaurus with Sabotage and Shady Dealer because u often just dropped Farseer without actually healing anything and this might catch a buff with Southsea Deckhand
STAY TUNED FOR MORE
Never once argued mate. As I stated before, to each their own. I personally have rarely played teacher and gone "man that was worth it" just is not a card I'm a big fan of. For someone with your play style, it may work splendidly and good for you. I don't knock anyone for the cards they find success with, it's what makes each match a challenge and each player's style unique. My only point was I don't see how you can call it a "bad replacement". I've watched a Paladin literally run through a tournament with Scarlet Purifier, every useless secret pally players wish were discontinued and replaced with anything else, and Bolvar Fordragon. Bolvar is a fun card, but rarely can he be utilized before the match ends and if he is, he's dealt with instantly and Purifier was much regarded as a card on the level of Magma Rider and Angry Chicken in the class specific card list. Nobody used him and to this day he's rarely used. I feel the secrets need no further explanation.
So I learned that no card is a bad card if properly used by the mind behind the deck. If I was arguing though, I would curiously ask what sense Kobald is "lower in power levels" compared to the rest of the deck makes or even means for that matter? First off I didn't know Hearthstone began a power level system rating for cards, so you are sharing something new with myself and many others, I'm sure. Next question is that you would play Thalnos in this deck if you had him, yes? Is he not a turn 2 1/1 drop? I get it he has a card draw deathrattle but you're going to tell me that's the one ability that raises his "power level" so significantly that he is allowed to be overlooked and make it in the deck?? Come on now, that's silly and makes absolutely no sense. However, I'm not. Just food for thought.
Why everyone keep saying Handlock is so easy for Rogue..."put them down to 15 hp blabla" gotta stop with that lmao
But this deck is a good one, eccept for Assassin's blade ,which doens't fit the actual meta, too slow :/
I think Assassin's Blade is too slow for this deck and if your opponent plays Harrison or Ooze you will lose tempo and give them a huge advantage! I personally would remove AB and Goblin auto barber and add another teacher and Antique to deck.
You think Assassin's Blade is too slow and you'd like to sub it for an Antique Healbot which is even slower? Assassin's Blade is a slow card for sure but it's perfectly viable in oil rogue. I do however agree that there's probably too much weapon destruction in the meta to play right now.
Thanks for the share :D ! Love oil rogue haven't seen many of them this month D: ! Was afraid rogue became out-dated as a class and it looks like TGT isn't going to help much :l ! Anyways hope y'all enjoy the gameplay!!!
Well I'm glad you like it :D ! I haven't played much this season so just sitting at around rank 10 but I try :O ! I am more than happy to have the video in the description thank you very much :3 !
For sure :D !
I'm not an avid rogue player, but I have played some and only 1 4-drop seems incredibly bad to be honest. Also the mulligan guide is kind of iffy. FoN you would keep against basically nothing except Paladin and maybe face hunter. And Preparation, which isn't even mentioned, the absolute majority of players would keep against all matchups (maybe not in combination with only Backstab but in general terms).
I don't like this list at all, but if it's working for you then good for you :)
If you're not keeping Preparation, then you should really reconsider. Preparation is the best tempo card you have and tempo is what makes oil rogue tick. It allows for huge tempo swings on turn 3, 4 or 5 against aggressive decks. Violet Teacher + Preparation + Sap/Fan of Knives/Blade Flurry on turn 4 for instance just straight up wins you the game in a lot of cases.
I also would really like you to try out the more standard list with at least three 4-drops if you haven't already because I don't know a single rogue player that would prefer this over that. I noticed that you mentioned you'd like to Preparation + Sprint on turn 4 and that's not surprising since you have no turn 4 plays basically. But you genereally don't want to prep sprint on turn 4, especially not against aggro. It's nice to have the option, especially against warrior and priest for instance, but most of the time you'd really like to drop a minion on turn 4.
But you should of course play whatever, and however, you like, it's just some food for thought.
I would wager that a lot of it has to do with you playing the deck better and better. I know that I would get completely wrecked in a couple of matchups with this list (warrior for instance) and with all the weapon hate out there, I can't justify Assassin's Blade. Anyway, I wish you luck with the deck :)
I agree with keeping at least one Preparation in every situation except for a hand that is exactly Preparation Backstab SI:7 Agent or something like that.
Do you have tracker stat? kindly share.
At least in EU pretty much any deck I see plays Harrison right now. Is assassin's blade still good?
assasin blade its to slow. iprefer dark skulker. but works fine whit both
Which TGT Cards would you put in as replacements ?
Hey, just a curiosity, why not the second Violet Teacher or Piloted Shredder instead of Goblin Auto-Barber? He is really good on the deck? Looking at the curve I feel you need at least another good drop 4...
Surely you have a reason for this card choice other than "i like this card"? Oil may have flex slots but you can't just throw stuff in because you felt like it.
I'm having horrible luck this season with rogue on ladder, any tips against some of the meta decks like patron and aggro paladin?
Edit: FYI thanks a lot for the deck, mine wasn't tecked too well and ran out of steam quickly :)
Yea thanks for the tips :)
No shredder?
