FAQ
Why aren't you running combo??
This is not a combo druid. It clearly says in the title ramp druid. The difference is one runs combos and one usually doesn't. On the other hand, combo is stupid. I hate Savage Roar and Force of Nature. There's no fun in just slamming 14 or 22 damage to face and winning the game without even having minions on your board. It got old, it's been around forever and I think Druid has way cooler, and more imaginative ways of winning (like slamming down 5 big threats in the same turn). If you want to run combo be my guest, it does work well everyone knows that, it's just not for me.
Why don't you take out this or that for Sylvanas??
I did. For a ridiculous amount of people this was their only complaint about the deck. Personally I still don't think it's really necessary, but meh neither was a Youthful Brewmaster.
Deck info/choice overview
Yeah so Aviana has some insane potential in my opinion; so much so that I felt that I had to make a ramp deck focused around her. If you can get Aviana on the board with either Cenarius or Kel'Thuzad there is a huge chance that she survives, and if she does you basically win outright. I even threw in the Darnassus Aspirant just for some extra ramp. If you manage to hit it with a silence you get a huge ramp boost, and if you play it into a mirror entity the mage is pretty much screwed. If you can hold on to an innervate or draw into one late game with Aviana in your hand you once again basically win. Even if you only get one late game legendary out with her you still get crazy value. When you play a late game legendary (Ysera, Kel, Cenarius, Rag, etc.) you basically use your whole turn doing so, so if you get a 5/5 with it for free that's just extra value. Gadgetzan Jouster is basically just a replacement for Zombie Chow because you have so much high mana stuff it will almost always proc and it doesn't have a drawback like Zombie Chow does.
Update- Removed Gadgetzan Jouster and added a Ironbeak Owl for another way to silence Darnassus Aspirant for extra ramp. Jouster doesn't really seem all that necessary, and if you don't get it in your opening hand it's just a waste of a card slot.
Update again- Removed one Sen'jin Shieldmasta and the one Ironbeak Owl for two Youthful Brewmaster. Seems like a weird choice, but I'm super interested to see if you can reliably return Darnassus Aspirant to your hand and get a free empty mana crystal. Not sure if it'll work out well, but it'll be fun.
Thanks for taking a look, I'm responding to all comments down below, so go ahead and ask away.
Agreed, the cards have much much much different effects. For Thaurrisan to equal Aviana on say, Ysera, Thaurrisan would have to stay alive for 8 turns.. that's ever going to happen.
Theeeeen Doomsayer frost nova, lol.
I'll definitely play around with it when it comes out, but I'm afraid that losing your entire hand will be too hard to come back from. To make that work I'd have to recreate the entire deck aswell, Astral Communion comes across as the type of card that you'd have to build an entire, insanely high curve, deck around.
Are Dr. Boom and Ragnaros the Firelord really that interesting? I mean, you could have no Big Game Hunter Targets on your deck. Also, nowadays I play 2 Ancient of War and 2 Sludge Belcher for taunts and it seems to be enough (I don't own Cenarius), maybe removing the 2 Sen'jin Shieldmasta would be better. That already make slots for the Youthful Brewmaster that seem really interesting on this new ramp druid, and maybe 1 Savage Roar and 1 Force of Nature to have a strong finisher.
This is a ramp druid not a combo druid. I hate FON + Savage combo, it's no fun. I think Druid has alot more potential then just bursting their opponent down from 14 hp on turn 9. The whole point of having Aviana in this deck is to slam down a ton of insane threats turn 10. Rag is a great threat and Dr. Balanced is just insane value so I wouldn't take either of them out. I may drop a Sen'jin for a brewmaster though, that is an interesting thought that has already been brought up before and I like the idea.
Cool deck but I think -1 senjin for Harrison jones would be pretty good
- Wrath + Living Root?
Also some fun twist: - Wild Growth +Brewmaster for Aspirant, BGH and Aviana even
Hmm, that's a very interesting thought. I like that alot actually I may add a brewmaster. I may cut an owl instead of a wild growht though. thanks for the great idea though.
excellent deck.. looks like the new ramp druid is going to look very similar to this ... but how about we through a Nourish for the extra ramp and potential card draw ?
That's actually an interesting point. I might actually run that as a 1 of and maybe take out an ironbeak.
I just now say that new card actually ,and I'm slightly disappointed. It looks awesome for token druid, but for ramp druid if I wanted a 1 drop I'd put in a zombie chow. I also don't think The Skeleton Knight looks very good at all.
Looks good but it is just theorical. Need to see some plays.
That's the whole point of theory crafting is it not? I'm not sure I understand your comment man.
Let me be more clear then. I can't really be sure that you can survive until you drop Aviana. You also want to keep innervate and coin to drop other minions with Aviana. Lots of high cost minions will be kept in hand. Ramp is all about curve and it looks hard with this deck. Well, I may totally be wrong, we'll see.
That's actually a really good point didn't think about using Aviana to throw down Loatheb so they couldn't use any spell removal. Interesting though.
Like your idea - pretty interesting :)
The reason i put Darnassus Aspirant instead of Zombie Chow was really just to test out the new joust mechanic. I realize Zombie Chow is most likely better in pretty much every case because the drawback doesn't really matter at all. And i think Ysera and Ragnaros the Firelord are much better finishers than Alexstrasza. I would like to include Sylvanas Windrunner but I don't really see anything I could cut for it. And Sunwalker is good for ramp but once again I think there are already enough taunts in this deck and noting obvious to cut for it. When TGT comes out I will test a bunch with this deck, and hopefully take it to legend so I'll keep updated with the best cards I change out and what works best for me.
Thanks guys, haha I don't really ever build decks on hearthpwn, especially theory crafting, but this card was too good and I had to. I play tons of ramp druid and this just seems like it's gonna push it to the next level. Honestly looks pretty top tier to me.
nice. and thx for sharing. thumbs up!
Can't wait to try this out, good build man.
