FAQ
Why aren't you running combo??
This is not a combo druid. It clearly says in the title ramp druid. The difference is one runs combos and one usually doesn't. On the other hand, combo is stupid. I hate Savage Roar and Force of Nature. There's no fun in just slamming 14 or 22 damage to face and winning the game without even having minions on your board. It got old, it's been around forever and I think Druid has way cooler, and more imaginative ways of winning (like slamming down 5 big threats in the same turn). If you want to run combo be my guest, it does work well everyone knows that, it's just not for me.
Why don't you take out this or that for Sylvanas??
I did. For a ridiculous amount of people this was their only complaint about the deck. Personally I still don't think it's really necessary, but meh neither was a Youthful Brewmaster.
Deck info/choice overview
Yeah so Aviana has some insane potential in my opinion; so much so that I felt that I had to make a ramp deck focused around her. If you can get Aviana on the board with either Cenarius or Kel'Thuzad there is a huge chance that she survives, and if she does you basically win outright. I even threw in the Darnassus Aspirant just for some extra ramp. If you manage to hit it with a silence you get a huge ramp boost, and if you play it into a mirror entity the mage is pretty much screwed. If you can hold on to an innervate or draw into one late game with Aviana in your hand you once again basically win. Even if you only get one late game legendary out with her you still get crazy value. When you play a late game legendary (Ysera, Kel, Cenarius, Rag, etc.) you basically use your whole turn doing so, so if you get a 5/5 with it for free that's just extra value. Gadgetzan Jouster is basically just a replacement for Zombie Chow because you have so much high mana stuff it will almost always proc and it doesn't have a drawback like Zombie Chow does.
Update- Removed Gadgetzan Jouster and added a Ironbeak Owl for another way to silence Darnassus Aspirant for extra ramp. Jouster doesn't really seem all that necessary, and if you don't get it in your opening hand it's just a waste of a card slot.
Update again- Removed one Sen'jin Shieldmasta and the one Ironbeak Owl for two Youthful Brewmaster. Seems like a weird choice, but I'm super interested to see if you can reliably return Darnassus Aspirant to your hand and get a free empty mana crystal. Not sure if it'll work out well, but it'll be fun.
Thanks for taking a look, I'm responding to all comments down below, so go ahead and ask away.
is that a shitty joke?
Hope so, haha.
Distinct lack of Deathwing
Ha, Deathwing is the opposite of what you'd want in this deck. Yeah you could play him for one with Aviana but then he'd just kill her and you'd dump your hand. That doesn't make sense.
I think Ysera is a lot more consistent and impactful than Chromaggus. You may draw a brewmaster and basically just waste the draw. Plus druids have no hard removal and ysera can give you a free sap which picks you up a ton of tempo. I just like ysera better.
Hmm that's actually a really good point. I think the reason i still prefer ysera is that it's alot more reliable. Chromaggus is, as you said, amazing with aviana. Chromaggus is trash if you don't have aviana. Ysera is amazing if you have aviana, but ysera is also amazing by itself as well. There will be games where you don't draw aviana sadly, and if you play chromaggus instead of ysera and duplicate an innervate you bascially lose. I ill definitly test Chromaggus in the dec kwhen TGT comes out. Thanks man, good idea.
I'll give it a shot when TGT hits for sure, thanks for the suggestion. And yeah... Astral Communion is absolutely crazy to think about.
I really can't see the Youthful Brewmasters working out. They're just too slow and you'd find better utility with silence like an owl.
If it works out you could do insane things with the brewmaster, for example, aviana survives one turn, next turn Dr.Boom flooding the board with bombs.
It has multiple things it can hit, not just the darnassus. It could hit AOL, BGH, and if aviana is out, it could be efficient to hit Dr.boom or cenarius.
I agree that when you can Brew back a card and then replay it - that's massive value. The problem is that you don't need more value in this deck - it already has loads of very powerful late game that will best all but decks like handlock.
You need speed and to be able to counter what your opponents are playing without taking too much damage. Replaying a high mana card like Dr.boom or Cenarius is great in theory but its very much a win-more move and will never realistically happen against aggro.
However you've decreased it down to just one Youthful Brewmaster so I think that's ok. On the other hand putting in a healbot could work for it.
T1 Living roots for controll or just pass
T2 (2 mana) darnassus
T3 (4 mana) youthfull+darassus+2free damage and you get her (darnassus) batlecry secures is the sense that her deathrattle only procks once. Or just Keepr the Darassus, but you lose 1 mana compared to the 1st scenario.
T4 (6 mana) You're ahed with 2 mana and you used only 1 darnassus.
Does no one else see the Aviana into Ancient of Lore into Innervate into Youthful Brewmaster into Ancient into draw two more cards? PogChamp
Meh, it'd be much better to play aviana with something that can get her alive until the next turn like kel thuzad, or cenarius
or loathep
Yo but now wouldn't you replace wild growth with that new card 4 mana and gives u 10 mana immediatly
Discarding your entire hand wouldn't work in this kind of deck. You'd have to rely on topdecks to get cards you need.
What do you think about -1 Youthful for +1 Nourish?
If Youthful + Darnassus combo doesnt happen as intended, wouldnt it end up as a dead card? Adding a Nourish gives you 2 crystal right away, and if drawn in late game, its 3 card draws at least.
Youthful Brewmaster also might be useful to "heal" a big minion which you may have played before drawing Aviana: you return a damaged minion to your hand and immediately play it again for 1 mana. This might also give you extra battlecries from Cenarius or Dr. Boom. Don't you think this might work in addition to why Slick_Willie added Youthful Brewmaster in the first place?
That's interesting. Ideally I don't need any threedrops because The opener will contain wild growth or darnassus aspirant with a youthful brewmaster. You should skip over three mana completely. Plus three drops aren't the best for druid, the only option would really be shade, which is better for combo druid in my opinion. I don't like living roots as much as wraths but that may change I'll think about that one. It's an interesting card but im not sure I like it more than Wrath becasue of the card draw. i've already adressed why i don't think Syl is necessary in this deck. And dropping a keeper for an earthen ring sounds ridiculous to me, keeper is one of the best druid cards, it's like an auto include in almost every druid deck. MC tech doesn't seem necessary because the meta should slow down, especially as soon as the cards launch because theres so many decent control cards.
