This is an easy deck to beat Drakkisath with, relying on the poor AI of the boss. When you have Kel'Thuzad and a Taunt minion out, Drakkisath will NOT attack the taunt minion for any reason. Drakkisath will still use Kidnappers and Flamestrikes on Taunt minions, so be sure to get more than 1 Taunt minion out quickly! Keeping Kel alive is the priority, as well as defeating Drakkisath before he uses Twisting Nether.
However, Drakkisath has a few ways to kill Kel'Thuzad, so the goal of this deck is to get Kel'Thuzad out and keep Kel stealthed to protect him. Use your other minions to hit face and win while Drakkisath does nothing.
Beware, this deck is very dependent on Drakkisath's first turn. Ideally you will play Kel on the first turn, but if Drakkisath immediately destroys him, it's game over. Simply restart and try again. Once you get Kel stealthed with Master of Disguise, Drakkisath cannot use his "destroy a minion - gain 10 armor" spell on Kel. You have to still be wary of double Flamestrike and Twisting Nether.
To limit the risk of Flamestrike, swapping in a couple Earthen Ring Farseers might be a good idea to heal Kel after a single Flamestrike. There is no way to avoid Twisting Nether with this deck. You just have to get lucky and hope Drakkisath doesn't draw it. One thing I've noticed and a couple other people have mentioned - if Drakkisath has a board full of his own minions, he won't use Twisting Nether (or use it much less often).
Be careful when using Conceal. Use if BEFORE attacking with your Taunt minions so they lose Stealth on Drakkisath's turn.
Also, you can replace many of the cards in this deck. Sylvanas gives an insane amount of value, but once you get a stealthed Kel + Taunt, you don't *need* anything else to win. So use your good legends if you have them, but Kel and the stealth cards are the only essentials in this deck. Alexstrasza is very useful if you have her.
Here is a video of the deck in action, courtesy of Matt_Sparks.
Changelog:
Swapped Loatheb for a Core Hound after being notified that Loatheb's Battlecry has no effect. Drakkisath's hero power overrides it. All cards cost 1, and not a thing can change that.
Good point Lanyru, took your annoy-o-tron advice into account and though it took around 10 tries, eventually the Kel Exploit finally worked.
One other bit of advice to others : don't feel safe dropping just one sticky taunt, between spells and especially Kidnapper, he can get through one and then you're often done for. Don't push for damage, push for security!
To detractors of the deck : yes Gen Drak has twisting nethers, spells, and lucky ogre RNG so no this deck is not guaranteed, but man it is fun to play and ride the highs and lows. Don't expect 100% wins, or even auto win if you draw Kel and Stealth though. Thanks to Red_G for a fun exploit.
Took many tries, but finally worked. Thanks.
+he has flamestrikes and will play them and slowly kill KT
Took me ~15 tries to beat him. It worked when I had Dr. Boom out and played KT (and sapped my Dr. Boom) so I had also 4 Boom Bots for like 2 or 3 turns I think until he killed my KT with double Flamestrike. But I somehow managed to get enough damage out with my Alex setting him to 15 hp and a game winning Betrayal.. :P
So anyway, in these 15 (maybe more idk) games I played KT a few times, but I've never ever seen him playing Twisting Nether o.o
Gotta love RNG... I finally got Kel'Thuzad and Master of Disguise in my opening hand.. Got Kel stealthed but then Drakk played an Ogre Ninja.. It diverted itself and slapped Kel ... Which revealed him...
I'm so glad this only took me a few tries - I tried the gimmicky OTK Druid Millhouse vs The Arena, and it took me two hours XD
turn 1 -> kt turn 2 sludge belcher turn 3 -> master of disguise. Drakkisath then casts flamestrike x2 :(
Got it on the 5th try. Had Kel in opening..no taunt. opened with Sylvanas and she died and stole a taunt..and rode that to victory. Was scary that he flamestriked on turn 4...but then I stealthed and he was too scared to flamestrike?
On the 4th try I had taunt then Kel. But he double flamestriked because I guess I had no stealth?
way to exploit the horrible AI, however, it's super effective.
Took me about a 100 tries to finally get the stealth, kel and taunt combo but just beat him. It works!
These fights are so unbelievably down syndrome its ridiculous. BRM is seriously a joke.
Lets Recap:
Turn 1: KT -> Turn 2: Lord of the Arena -> He grabs rag out of my deck and snipes KT
Its the hardest boos in this wing. Need some luck, but did after a few tries. Ty man =D
worked well for me in second try.....=D
First attempt! WOW! I had kel out round one, and the rest of the game was literally just smoking everything. At the VERY END, the boss killed my kel with a detroy minion, and +10 armor, which was scary because the boss followed up with a destroy ALL minions card. SO basically I had a ton of spell cards left, dropped a 9 attack minion, then destroyed the taunters with spell cards. GG, THANK YOU!!
Won without KT. Pure damm lucky with Alexstrasza turn 1and some giants, but I was running the druid deck...
Same, Alexstraza turn 1, Conceal turn 2, dead turn 3.
he has +30 armor... how are you doing 45 dmg turn 3? im so confused
this deck doesn't win unless you turn 1 KT, turn 2 taunt, and he doesn't remove KT.
yep. bad deck is bad.
Yeah, that's pretty much true. However, if you manage to survive the start (first turn Force Tank Max or Sylvanas), you can play KT on turn 3-4 and still win. This boss is really luck dependent.
