This is an easy deck to beat Drakkisath with, relying on the poor AI of the boss. When you have Kel'Thuzad and a Taunt minion out, Drakkisath will NOT attack the taunt minion for any reason. Drakkisath will still use Kidnappers and Flamestrikes on Taunt minions, so be sure to get more than 1 Taunt minion out quickly! Keeping Kel alive is the priority, as well as defeating Drakkisath before he uses Twisting Nether.
However, Drakkisath has a few ways to kill Kel'Thuzad, so the goal of this deck is to get Kel'Thuzad out and keep Kel stealthed to protect him. Use your other minions to hit face and win while Drakkisath does nothing.
Beware, this deck is very dependent on Drakkisath's first turn. Ideally you will play Kel on the first turn, but if Drakkisath immediately destroys him, it's game over. Simply restart and try again. Once you get Kel stealthed with Master of Disguise, Drakkisath cannot use his "destroy a minion - gain 10 armor" spell on Kel. You have to still be wary of double Flamestrike and Twisting Nether.
To limit the risk of Flamestrike, swapping in a couple Earthen Ring Farseers might be a good idea to heal Kel after a single Flamestrike. There is no way to avoid Twisting Nether with this deck. You just have to get lucky and hope Drakkisath doesn't draw it. One thing I've noticed and a couple other people have mentioned - if Drakkisath has a board full of his own minions, he won't use Twisting Nether (or use it much less often).
Be careful when using Conceal. Use if BEFORE attacking with your Taunt minions so they lose Stealth on Drakkisath's turn.
Also, you can replace many of the cards in this deck. Sylvanas gives an insane amount of value, but once you get a stealthed Kel + Taunt, you don't *need* anything else to win. So use your good legends if you have them, but Kel and the stealth cards are the only essentials in this deck. Alexstrasza is very useful if you have her.
Here is a video of the deck in action, courtesy of Matt_Sparks.
Changelog:
Swapped Loatheb for a Core Hound after being notified that Loatheb's Battlecry has no effect. Drakkisath's hero power overrides it. All cards cost 1, and not a thing can change that.
Finally! Awesome deck! Second game win!
Brilliant deck my god! second try destroyed with 20 health
As others have said, too much of a gimmick. You need all three things: KT, Stealth, and Taunt. If by some miracle you happen to get all three and can play KT on turn one, it will most likely instantly die to Drakkisath's Command. Even if you can manage to get it all set up, it still doesn't look like a sure win, so only try this one if you have a lot of time to waste and enjoy constantly conceding to re-mulligan.
So...this deck is busted once Kel'Thuzard is dead...or am I missing something?
Horrible luck on this one.
Finally go the win. Adding Alexstrasza was huge for me...it shortened the time to win. Luck plays a major role, but making sure you have Kel'Thuzad and Taunts (as has been noted previously) is vital for the beginning. So if you do not have Kel'Thuzad on your fist turn, just concede.
Worked like a charm, after 4-5 turns ofc. You need Kel'thuzad and taunts.
I tried for an hour about, finally got the cards turn 1 KT, turn two Master of Disguise, turn three, taunt. In my experience, waiting to play KT any longer than turn 1 or 2 is just game over, and if he is out without stealth, it takes around 2-3 turns before he gets removed with that spell.
Then i just put out minions, didn't bother with the spells and went to the face while he hung around, because I was worried about Twisting Nether. When I tried before with a Druid, i couldn't hide KT, so he didn't last long.
just a warning, don't run your sludge belchers into minions because you will flood your board with useless 1/2's
i don't like this one. Unless you get the cards in a perfect order, and the Boss gets his in the worst possible ordre, it's impossible to win.
I don't feel like playing, but more like waiting for sheer luck to happen
It's a nice idea, but the chances of getting it right are way too high.
Took quite a few tries (upward of 20) to get the right draws, but it works like a charm once you do.
Didn't really use/need the Stealth or Conceals. Just needed early Kel and two taunts.
Nice! Got it, 2nd try.. May the RNGesus be with you!!!
I was a bit scared how big luck is necessary to win with this deck. But anyways, i crafted single master of disguise and run similiar deck to this. In mulligan I got the Kel + Master of disguise (but the luck just begins now), played kel, he plays kidnapper + sprint, i played kel again on turn 2, he plays minion + destroy minion ON HIS OWN ONLY MINION! So next turn i played sludge, then gave kel the stealth and won on first try.
Thanks for the deck! :)
I had to log in just to let you know how bad this deck is. Do not waste your time playing this gimmicky garbage. If it "works on the first try" it's because you're insanely lucky or you're just trolling.
Don't play this deck.
I managed to win with quite the same deck, instead I used a druid, and with Ironbark Protector and his new brother I had no problem protecting Kel, and luckily he didn't draw Twisting Nether.
A shaman deck using Ancestral Spirit on Kel an be viable too.
I agree this deck is based on luck, but when I see the others decks proposed, It's still the most affordable solution. The others are full of legendaries and most players, i think, cannot build them!
Tried your suggestion, and this was the result. Let's see him try and get rid of these... (luckily I haven't encountered his infamous Twisting Nether in any of my 30 games trying to beat him).
Way too gimmicky for my book.
that was fun, i get it at my like 8th try, but was worth for this board
Play Kel = He immediatly destroys it. 5 games lol.
50 games later. No wins. Only drew KT within the first 4 turns twice. General drew Mind Games into my KT 8 times. I want to like this deck, but be warned, 1/100 times this deck might instant win but every other time you will lose without a doubt.
