Took me a long time to get legend this season finaly made it with this pally deck with a pretty good win streak. Was trying to make a good pala and ended with this list. Figured double 4-drop was extremely consistent. Figured i needed some card draw as the way i would lose was with 2 cards in my hand due to poor overall card quality in the mid-late game. Azure drake helpes solve the card card and since i was running double four drop i could afford to play a 4/4 on 5.
Emperor is completely trash in paladin and is either a win more card or gives you a turn 7 tirion which there is not much use in. People that play him are effectively playing a card that loses them tempo and ends up being a win more card meaning they play with 1 dead card in there deck. Playing with one dead card will not always effect your win rate if your lucky but it will for sure not make it any better.
Loatheb is no good vs zoo and is a 5 drop, seeing as there are way to many 5 drops you dont want to play more. Loatheb dosent help against the decks that paladin struggles with but helps vs decks paladin already has a good win rate against.
Cards like coghammer can be used if you feel the need for it but loatheb and emperor dosent fit. You can also play tech cards like harrison if your getting a lot of weapon classes. If u run coghammer u 100% will not want to cut blessing. blessing has a lot of synergy with cog hammer so i see why people want to play it and it might be very good.
Edit: Played for the entire day staying top 30- top 5. Highest i got was #3. Played the exact same list as on screen. I dropped to 400+ now and will be testing the new paladin card instead.
How does this deck fare against druid and demonlock? A lot at rank 3 and 2. Thanks!
Demonlock is the only bad matchup. The main factors vs demonlock is: if u have owl, popping there eggs before they can get value from them and playin around aoi. paladin is favored vs druid but also here it can lose but its all draw. If druid has wild growth and dr boom turn 7 u will lose. The whole matchup is centerd around dr boom and shades. If the druid never plays boom i ALWAYS win but this is the same for most decks. Druid is EXTREMELY overpowerd atm making any deck able to lose vs a good draw(even zoo). Yesterday i had a 80%+ win rate in a meta with all druids, mages, demonlocks, hunters and warrior which i assume is the meta at 5+ aswell.
I find demonlock not as bad as lightbomb priest/control priest and rogues... Have only been hovering at around rank 4 - rank 2, occasionally hitting rank 1 but never passing the mark to legend nor have the time atm...
For some reason theres a huge influx of priest and rogues at rank 1 which i find odd. Is that true in yor case? or is my sample too small. And if im facing rogues and priests like literallly all day how should i play the matchup, should i tech some other cards to fight back at them?
With priests, i literally lost 90 percent of the time, at least i have a fighting chacne against rogue, but jesus control and lightbomb priests literally counters mid pallys imo.
Rouge is actually not a bad matchup at all in my experience. I think its a lot on how you play these matchups because i know a lot of people struggle vs rouge even tho i have never had huge trouble with rouge. You always mulligan for dr boom and truesilver vs rouge and always go face when you think you can squeeze in more dmg. If lightbomb priest is a problem swap some cards for double kodo and you should win every game. If demonlock is a problem swap some cards for double owl and you should win everytime. The new list kolento plays loses pretty badely to paladin the same way zoo does so i would assume paladin will be pretty strong atm. I never faced any priests at all in the past 2 days and very few rouges.
oh yeah and how does it do against aggro decks?
Zoo is 80/20. Hunter is 60/40 or 70/30. Mech mage is 60/40 or 70/40. Paladin is favored vs aggro because of muster and minibot-
Also if you see a lot of juntards/mech mages add a Kezan Mystic. It can change games.
amazing deck man
I'm going to be a opening a shit ton of packs in a few days, hopefully I pull enough to craft the rest of this because Paladin is my favorite class, I love midrange and you're an awesome deck builder, looking forward to it!
nice deck what card should i switch if i wanna include emperor? oh and how do you mulligan would be really helpfull to know :)
Emperor is pretty shitty in paladin as the most use you will get out of him is playing tirion on turn 7. He dosent provide what paladin needs. Paladin needs tempo cards, card draw and none situational all around good cards. Paying 2 mana in body for a 3-6 mana discount on your next plays isn't enough in a deck with no other way to use the card discount.
And making mulligan guides is in general pretty hard as the mulligan is relative to meta, matchup and the synergy between the cards.
ah ok thanks for the reply :)
Hey, Thanks for this deck!
I was lucky enough to get Tirion in a pack (right after Rag too!) and was looking for a deck to incorporate him in.
I stumbled across yours yesterday and tried it out.
Unfortunately i dont have a Sylvanas, so I was forced to use a Cairne Bloodhoof in her place.
The deck works really well so far. I'm just getting adjusted to the play style.
Any added info/mulligan/synergy combos would be nice, but not essential since its a really well put together deck.
I entertained the thought of adding a KT to this deck, although im a bit unsure where to put it, or if it is necessary. Thoughts?
Thanks again
Cairne is not the best choice in this meta..maybe u can try out Emperor.. But Sylvanas is probabily the most versatile legendary(after dr. Balanced) so i think u have to get some dust and craft her asap=)
About the KT i think can be good in the long game but there are 2 good 8 drop in the deck and maybe KT ends to be stuck in your hand. Is not good as Tyrion if u are behind and if u play it on an empty board u are probabily winning anyway. It's a Winning-more card but there are no good spot to fit it in. I think the deck is very solid and do not need any big changes. But free to adapting to the meta=)
Cairne should be played in decks in need of a sticky minion turn 6 to make trades making him pretty perfect for paladin. The only problem with cairne is he dosent trade well anymore. If you were to play cairne u would also need 1-2 defender of argus to make him useful since most decks only hits face at turn 6. Sylvanas kills all the 5 health minions and cairne dosent which is the only reason sylv is run over cairne, 5+ attack and 5+ health is the best stats for a card atm.
KT is not that good either. I tried him for a bit but turn 8 you have usually won the game if your board is big enough to get KT value making KT worse then other high cost legends like tirion. I would much rather play ysera or a 6 drop instead of him. He is often just a situational win more card.
Hey guys, thanks for the advice.
I know Sylvanas is irreplacable, just working with what I have temporarily.
Emperor doesnt help much in paladin, except making a Knife Juggler -> Muster -> Quartermaster combo possible for 7mana , Which is extremely situational and definitely not the point of the deck.
That being said, I should have realized KT falls under the same category as Emperor.
Any recommendations for replacing Cairne in the 6mana slot?
I was considering an Avenging Wrath for the synergy w/ Equality and aldor - but it seems too rng dependent.
Maybe a Sunwalker?
Thanks! It didnt cross my mind because I was searching for 6drops, but lothaeb is valuable all the time.
I'll give it a shot.
Had a solid winrate with lothaeb.
However, a cardpack gave me Millhouse, so I ended up disenchanting him and Cairne to create my Sylvanas.
Woooo! Value! =)
Someone already had the audacity to -1 it though which is the main reason I stopped writing decks for the community. I was sick and tired my proven decks that I grinded all the way to legend with or let someone else use them to make legend receive negative feedback when every slot was optimal no matter how much commentary I put in describing why to use what and when and even all the subsitutions, mulligan strategies and win ratio vs each class etc.
Then the thing happend that pissed me off the most at the community as they sheepishly down rate your deck yet give you no reason as to why so I could improve a couple of the slots in the deck incase they wasn't optimal. Downrating a deck people is not a good thing to do and helps NO ONE unless you provide proper feedback as to" Why " you did it? All it does is prove you are a coward or a really passive/agressive person and it really hurts the community and discourages a lot of deck designers to happily do their thing for you all.
In my opinion you shouldn't be allowed to down vote a deck or up rate one until you have commented. This would really help the community and all of the discouraged deck designers like myself.
