StrifeCro took the originial deck to 33 ranked wins in a row on EU in January.
KEY UPDATES:Basic mulligan lists, new meta changes!
I managed to reach legend with this deck! (rank 5 - legend)
My record starting from rank 5
I chose to swap out a number of Strifecro's original deck as the meta is shifting and I am testing out new choices. Feedback appreciated.
CARD CHANGES:
+1 Troggzor the Earthinator
-1 Dr. Boom
+1 Cult Master
-1 Acolyte of Pain
+1 Blood Knight
-1Mind Control Tech
+1Acidic Swamp Ooze
-1Knife Juggler
I was not getting much value out of Acolyte of Pain and am testing out a Cult Master in his place. The synergy with Muster for battle and the general number of times you hero power really help Cult Master see value.
As for Dr. Boom, I found that with the abundance of BGH out there, it was seeing very little value as the only 7+attack minion. Troggzor has great stats without being in BGH range, and combos well with this deck and Tirion.
I believe it is important to note that before you make any changes to this deck, look at the curve and try to stick to it. The curve of this deck is a large part of why it works so well, and fudging the numbers could hurt chances of having good plays turn after turn.
Update 2: Will be looking at the decklist as meta stabilizes post-undertaker nerf. Also, Tales of Lumin put in the time to create a quick overview video of this deck and agree it should be on this page.
Update 2/3/15: New changes to move with the meta post-Undertaker nerf. Mech mages are rampant so I am testing to increase this decks odds of winning that match-up while remaining strong against other classes.
General Mulligans: Shielded Mini-bot, Knife Juggler, Muster for Battle, Aldor Peacekeeper
Against Aggro: Consecration
Mage specific: Blood Knight
Rogue/Warrior: Acidic Swamp Ooze
Paladin: Acidic Swamp Ooze + Blood Knight
Priest: Piloted Shredder(If you have coin)
Warlock/Druid/Hunter/Shaman: Follow general mulligans.
Scarlet Purifier is also a reasonable replacement for Acolyte of Pain. It definitely helps in the Hunter matchup. It clears the annoying Loot Hoarders, Webspinners, pops the Haunted Creepers etc. But the biggest value I feel comes from taking out the Mad Scientists. It helps in that they can't trade a scientist into your early minions. You can then use your 1/1 recruits to test for traps while keeping your board. Its good stuff.
I dont have Dr.boom or Troggzor(neither Sylvannas) ....what can I use ? Avenging Wrath ? Another Sky golem ?
Thanks
I don't have Trog either, I use dr boom and a sky golem.
If you don't have either Troggzor the Earthinator or Dr. Boom, a 2nd Piloted Sky Golem would work pretty well in that slot.
I'm just wondering if the Black Knight a must-have and can it possibly be replaced with Sylvanas? Thanks in advance!
My friend has this change in but it's not near as effective. The Black knight is very useful against the current meta (druids)
I run Black Knight in nearly every deck. Cards like Tyrion Fordring, Al Akir, Or warlock giants dont stand a chance. Couple this with an owl for an anti-taunt deck.
After suffering a lot against Black Knights and watching famous streamers I had to craft myself this minion... It has insane value on the current meta! It helps you against nearly every deck, even Hunters!! heehe
any changes after undertaker nerf? can probably make this deck a bit more controlly now that you don't have to worry about undertaker
This deck already didn't focus on undertaker. Otherwise you would see Zombie Chow in it.
I imagine this deck to be far stronger with less Hunters around.
Why loatheb over harrison?
Unless weapon rogue/warriors get even more popular after the Undertaker nerf, Loatheb helps against the druids that are prevalent on the ladder.
Just beat a mechmage and control warrior by using MC Tech after Boom. Fun deck and very successful so far lol.
[card]Sylvanas Windrunner[/card] actually create more pressure to the opponent. But I see this deck runs a Mind Control Tech, it may give room to try out Piloted Sky Golem to have a sticky minion on the board.
I will vote for Sylvanas Windrunner, and replace the 3cost Mind Control Tech slot for minion like Recombobulator.
I prefer MC Tech because it gets serious value when your opponent plays Dr. Boom.
Everyone runs silence and has figured out how to play around Sylvanas - I think the sticky golem is the better choice. I run both in my Paladin deck
Eh - maybe, maybe not. If your opponent plays boom and you take a boom bot... eh, how good is that really?
If you're behind, the card is bad. It CAN, however, swing games at say.. turn 6 where you drop an aldor (after taking a minion, obviously) + MC tech or turn 5 w/ shielded minibot
I run 2 copies of golem and shredder and they are working great so far. Cut a belcher.
Piloted has been more of a threat to deal with in my experience. Not knowing what comes out makes the enemy think harder as there is always the RNG factor.
MCT is a huge asset against players who don't watch how many minions they place on the board. Do not sub him out IMO.
It only has a 50% chance to take a boom bot. Plus, I usually have an answer for boom in my hand (aldor or BGH). 1 less boombot is always welcome too, I think it rlly fits the deck because it's good against aggro as well as control.
