I tried for 3 days and I finally did it. I found a meta-breaking warlock deck that is not OTK or quest! This deck carried me from D5 to legend in 1 evening.
Upsides:
- Trashes paladin
- Shits on pirate warrior
- Can gain up to 56 armor in one turn!
- Can disrupt combo decks by burning their combo pieces
- Fun, swingy games! (for you, not your opponent!)
- This deck makes friends :D
Mulligan for Vanndar Stormpike, Dark Portal, Free Admission. You can keep 1 cheap removal vs aggro
Replacements:
Since paladins are gone from ladder, I replaced 1 Leutenant with 1 Altar of Fire. It helps you to burn those extra cards when you found all you need or if you are not able to play more then 1 Tickatus. If you struggle with your draws, you can add Sphere of Sapience instead. Helps not to draw tickatus early
Matchups:
You destroy pirates and libram paladin by default. Since nerfs, ping mage and deathrattle hunter are on the rise. Mage can ignore your minions and push face and hunter is a very greedy late game, so its hard for you to clear. Those matchups might be problematic. Sphere of sapience might help you there.
Another tricky matchup is quest priest. They usually dont care how many cards you burn. Dont ever use your mutanus until they complete quest. They cant play their quest reward the same turn they complete it. So you have great chance to eat it next turn.

Since HS is scripted, by playing tick u are going to face Quest warlock since it hardcounters this deck. Fml

When this was created Ping Mage wasnt even a thing. So no news there yes.

This deck is a blast! I’m 4-0 with 4 concedes. The turn when you rip 3 Tickatie, and you mill half there is deck is a feeling that can’t be described in words. Very fun and sweet deck thank you RomanKnight
No, just no. This deck is dust-expensive and no viable.
Way too inconsistent, and relies completely on draw. This isn't a minion meta, so majority of the control cards are out of place. When you do face a minion match up (war/pal) - Then if your draws are shit it's over. There is no alternative path to victory. When it does work it's fun, but it doesn't work often enough to be consider viable. Maybe in a prior meta.
Tried reducing some of the control elements (since non-minion meta means sitting with cards in your hand you can't use) - also tried with orb, no difference. Sure when you do hit a decent sequence and combo it ends a game immediately with a massive swing, but that's not gonna get ya up the ladder.
I agree, that the meta has shifted again towards spell oriented decks. It doesnt mean the deck can not be OP again with some adjustments. I will do the experimentation. Perhaps more agressivness is needed. I dont agree that its draws are inconsistent. In my games I very selfomly sit with full mana cost Tickatus. And even when I do, I still win very often. Winrate with the deck is still not bad. I am sure it can be even better.
Well i have pretty bad RNG in general, have for many years, so it's likely just the curse of my luck.

I have no clue how you went 18-3 with this, yea its good when you draw well but other than that you kinda just flop over and die. Also free admission just felt terrible.
Remember, 18-3 was before nerfs. Paladins and pirate warriors were all over. The deck needs to adjust to new meta. I have already made changes to the deck. You might add sphere of sapience or altar of Fire instead of 1 leutenant. Free admission is fantastic. It helps you to tutor spesificly your minions when you need them. Remeber, 3 mana draw 2 is perfectly fine, even without discount.

Yeah, 5-19 so far. You need to have amazing draw chances to be remotely competitive. Could be fun, but not viable.
You rely heavily on playing The Dark Portal or Vanndar Stormpike before turn 5. And in 24 games that I played, I managed to mulligan Vanndar Stormpike 2 times. In rest of the games, I had either Tickatus in my hand for full cost, or both Abominable Lieutenant 's for, again, full cost.
Quest priest is absolutely beatable. You burn their deck, wait to complete the quest, then use Mutanus. Thats why he is in the deck. Quest warlock might be the problem, yes, but I havent met any in 30 games. Neither did I meet elemental shaman, only OTK, which you beat. Either you play a very different meta then I did or you are doing somethig wrong. Its strange I get so polarized opinions, I guess the deck is not for everybody.
Priests can also copy their spells, and every remotely intelligent one will copy the shard, or immediately draw it as soon as it ends up in their deck.
Also, every quest player I came across had more than enough brain cells, and finished their quest (whether it was a Warlock/Pirate/Priest doesn't matter) and played the reward in the same turn, leaving no chance for Mutanus to eat it away.
And no, I'm not doing anything wrong, and you can't convince me that you can still pull 18-3. Deck that relies heavily on not drawing anything besides Vanndar before turn 4 cannot be viable. As I stated, I played over 40 games with the deck, I had discounted Tickatus (3 mana or less) in like 5 games max, in other games, that's 35+ I had it drawn before turn 6. But it was useless at the time, decks that have high draw are usually on >10 cards when I can actually use Tickatus after clearing every danger on the board.
And since we have almost no heal, it's not even fun or useful to remove their 6 - 12 cards.
In only one game I played I managed to pull the Mo'arg + Wicked Shipment + Tamsin's Phylactery combo. And I had like 40 armor. Wow! Amazing, only pronloged my inevitable death by few turns.
You are telling me that you pulled 1 specific card out of 30 before turn 6 in 87% of your games, though you have 4 other cards to discount it? You are telling me that deck with 11/30 potential heal cards has no heal? You are telling me that after you burn half of priest cards, they still always copy quest reward and you cant win? And lastly, you are telling me that you played 40 games with the deck you absolutely hate and lose so much with?

I tried it because I liked the idea of it. :) But as many people here said - it just doesn't work.
Some of your games last 30 seconds-1 minute. That means you just concede to some decks cause you dont like your starting hand or draw tickatus. You cant complain that you dont do well with a deck if you dont even try to win. Just give up man, this deck is not for you.
Drawing 2x Mo'arg and Tickatus in the first two turns - sure, I'm not going to waste 15 minutes of time just to lose after 15 mins. Congrats, you saw three game of insta concede. Automatically that means I'm not willing to give it a go. Brilliant deduction.
Since you're salty af - I conceded because I have no chance against aggro decks if I draw these three cards, since I will not be able to survive to turn 8/9.
