Introduction
This is my take on NicoBdhsn's Secret Tiger Paladin, which you can check out below.
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1279172-secret-tiger-paladin-62-win-rate
Card explanation
Since most cards are self-explanatory, I'll only discuss a few here.
I'm running the secret package because it gives you a good early and mid game, good minions and good cycle.
I'm no longer running Aldor Peacekeeper because mage is the only matchup in which aldor is useful, and even then reducing a giant's attack is not that great if you can't kill it (because they still can Conjurer's Calling it).
Archmage Vargoth didn't make the cut because secrets can't be recasted and other combos require too much mana or vargoth to stick (and Blessing of Kings might get recasted on an enemy minion)
I'm not running Harrison Jones because the rogue nerf has made it worse.
Replacements
Some of the expensive legendaries like Countess Ashmore, Tirion Fordring, Zilliax and Shirvallah, the Tiger are not core and therefore can be replaced (although this would make the deck worse of course). In terms of what to use instead, you can try stuff like second Aldor Peacekeeper or Spellbreaker.
Warning: I haven't been able to play much these days because I'm quite busy atm. Therefore, there are some cards in this list that could be changed in the future. Also, this deck is fun to play but not as competitive as most meta decks.
General strategy
This is a midrange deck, which means that overall you should stay defensive against aggro and agressive against control.
Mulligan guide
Overall, never keep anything above 4 mana.
-Against aggro: keep Consecration, Mysterious Blade, Sunreaver Spy, Bellringer Sentry.
-Against control: keep Spirit of the Tiger, Blessing of Kings, Bellringer Sentry, Sunreaver Spy.
Commander Rhyssa is a risky keep sometimes, but others can work. Same as with secrets, it depends on what you already have in your hand.
Note: cyclone mage might not be exactly aggro but you should ALWAYS keep Consecration vs them
Replacement for Countess Ashmore?
Try second Aldor Peacekeeper. Not the same in terms of effect but I can't think of anything better.
Interesting approach. I toyed around with a similar deck recently that used Call to Adventure to reliably pull the Tigers, alongside Prismatic Lens to allow playing bigger minions for less Mana while still getting value off the then more expensive spells (e. g. playing Tirion for 1 Mana and Redemption for 8 Mana on turn 9, generating an 8/8).
Does the Secret package perform well? I feel as if, in terms of value or impact, Paladin secrets don't really have that much to offer for Midrange and rather fit a Tempo playstyle.
I think so, yeah. The secrets themselves can be a bit lackluster sometimes but I think they're worth it because the cards that synergize with them are really damn good.
Who knows though, perhaps there are better things to run. I did thought at some point about running mechs instead of the secret package, there are probably various apporaches that work.
My version ran 2 copies of Arcane Dynamo. Paired with Prismatic Lens it sometimes gave a 1 Mana 3/4 that let me discover a spell that costs 5 or more.
Maybe worth a consideration, but I took it out after some time. The problem is just that the expensive Paladin spells are currently a bit awkward to use, and just playing a 3/4 didn't seem worth it to me.
Hello there! Just a simple question, how do you deal with big mages? Thanks for reply!
P.S.: I do enjoy this deck a lot :)
I haven't been able to play the deck that much so I can't really tell how well this deck performs against mage (yet). I'm not sure if I'll need the second Aldor Peacekeeper (or even Repentance) or not.
Would u write a mini guide?
Sure, but I'm a bit busy with university atm and I haven't been able to play the deck that much, so the guide might not be perfect.
